Ford Audio/Video System :: Metal Rattle From Inside Rear Doors
Oct 10, 2012
The rear doors of my supervene have an unfortunate rattle. There is a sheet in the inside of the doors (between the skins) which seems to be just loose enough to rattle when I turn my stereo up (dual h/u with Polk 5x7).
Now I tried some silicone sealant in the bases to silence the rattle but with the poor access it just didn't work. I do have dynamat around the speakers and its not your typical speaker rattle as you can here it when you close the doors as well.
I'd almost like to try shooting some great stuff in there but I'm worried that it wouldn't worm so hot kn the best case and would screw up the latching system in the worst case.

I have my box behind the seats (of course) I'm getting this annoying rattle from the box on one side, but when I pick the box up theres nothing. The box is sitting on a rubber stop so I dont think its the truck. Maybe a box issue inside???

how do you balance your rear speakers that are connected to a external amp. i can balance my front speakers, they are connected to the stereo wires, but my rears are connected to a amp that is connected to my stereo with RCA jacks. i called sony and they said most models dont have that feature. i have my stereo connected to a equalizer that has outputs for sub, front and rear amps. what i did was connect the right channel of my amp to the front rca jack on my equalizer the the left to the rear, it has the feature of fading from front to rear so i can balance them that way but seems like there should be a better way.

First time ford owner so am not familiar with any quirks in the vehicle. Anyhow, about a year ago I replaced the head unit for the previous owner without any problems. All my connections are good and I rechecked them this morning. The problem is all the rear speakers cut in and out for no particular reason.
I have tested this even with the engine off just on acc. I have manipulated the wiring harness in the dash and I can't make it cut out or in so I am inclined to think something is that triggers a relay near the center armrest is the source of the issue. That relay is switching every time but I have yet looked into that. Is this a common issue?
The vehicle just had the BCM (I think that's what it's called on a ford) replaced because of a similar random relay issue in the right kick fuse panel causing the headlights to randomly flicker.

2013 F-250. Sync. No navigation. I am able to pair my Android cell phone to the truck and all works fine. Can send and receive calls using the voice commands etc. I am also able to play music from my bluetooth enabled LG V10 android cell phone. When I start the truck, it automatically detects my cell phone, connects to it and begins playing music from my cell phone through the truck stereo. And therein lies the problem.
My question is, is there a way to tell the truck to go ahead and connect to the cell phone, but don't start playing music. In other words, I don't want the truck to launch the music player on my cell phone. I always have to either turn off the player on my cell phone or give the "pause" command through bluetooth audio.

On my '06 XL F350 I want to know if and how I can hook up an auxiliary input. It has the AUX button ,but it doesn't have any aux audio port in the dash anywhere like some of the nicer F-series have. When I push the AUX button, the screen reads "NO AUX AUDIO". Is there an adapter I can buy to plug in the back so I can actually have and auxiliary input?

So i have this whistle/wine through my system when running the Sirius thingy. It seems to correlate with rpm... Higher the rpm... higher pitched the whine/whistle...
The pitch of the whistle almost matches my turbo whistle. The Sirius is powered through the cigar lighter port. Aux audio 3.5mm cord from Sirius to the stereo head.

I recently picked up and installed an OEM head unit for my 04 F350 XL SC/SB. This truck came with a basic AM/FM head unit and 2 front door speakers. Im not looking to do anything crazy, but now that I have a better head unit than just the AM/FM one I would like to wire in 2 more speakers in the rear doors. The rear doors already have the spots to install speakers, but I am assuming I will have to run wiring to the new head unit.
Will I have to find another plug to go from the new rear speakers to the head unit or is the single plug that is now running the radio have extra spots to accept 2 more speakers? This is the stock head unit. This is the better stock head unit

I just purchased a 2003 F150 with the factory CD / Cassette player. 3l3t-18c868-ac ... There is absolutely no power to the stereo, the one fuse I found in the owners manual that says its for the stereo is still good.
Why I have no power, or other places I should be looking. Also, need a pin out for the radio so I can apply power to it on my bench so I can see if it even powers up?
Then the next thing would be which wire in the harness in the dash that I unplugged is for power so I can test with a multi meter if its getting power? My fear is there is a bad power wire, but maybe I can run another power line to it from another source and get it to work.
