Ford Audio/Video System :: 2008 - Regular Radio Swap For Navigation
Mar 30, 2015
I recently bought a 2008 F-250 lariat and it came with the single disk am/fm radio, i am wondering, can put the navigation touch screen radio in its place?

My 06 Superduty had a plain jane AM/FM stereo. I got a 6CD MP3 replacement from a pick-a-part. I don't know the vehicle it came from, all I can say is that it was an SUV. The radio didn't look the greatest, but it worked. I went back to the junkyard to see if I could get the plug for the AUX line-in. I found a 2007 Fusion that had it so I grabbed the radio, cut the plug that goes into the back and grabbed that too. The line-in was in the center console so I cut that out too. There were seven wires coming out of the radio plug and four coming out of the line-in jack. I connected the four wires because they were the same color on both ends. One was a black wire that ran to a foil shield that encased part of the harness. I guess the other two go to the CAN bus? I don't know, there is no provision for them in my truck. The fusion radio takes a different antennae plug and the face doesn't work. When I plug in the line-in plug that I wired up, it only works on one channel. When I plug it into the radio from the SUV and hit the AUX button, it says NO AUX. Do I need one of those PIE connectors, or is there a way to make my pigtail work?

I have a 2011 F-250 Xlt that came with the standard radio/CD player and I wanted to replace it with a OEM Navigation Unit. I was going to have FORD install it once I can get my hands on one.
My question is:
1) Do I (just) need the head unit, or will I need wiring harness and other accessories? (the truck has sync, had xm radio)
2) Will the steering wheel buttons still function.
3) Is there anything I should know before attempting this
4) Will there be any repercussions.

I just purchased a 2008 F-350 and I am trying to get my "line in" plug to connect to my iPhone. When I connect everything my radio says no connection to auxiliary. I am wondering if the plug is bad? And where could I find this plug? Figuring the name out to search is another ???

I have an 08 f150. Doing an Alpine iva w203 head unit. The back of the factory radio has two harness plugs, one is bigger than the other. A third plug is the ant. which needs an adapter too....but the root question is...... The bigger of the two is the harness that adapts to plug into the new unit, what is the second OEM smaller plug for that has no spot to plug into the alpine unit? does it just sit there not plugged in now?
Is the second smaller plug for the steering wheel controls? is this where I connect the SWI-JACK adapter that allows the steering wheel controls from the truck to go to the radio? if so, where do i find a harness adapter to plug into this second OEM harness?

Looking to upgrade it with an AUX input (from an iPhone), and with an integrated Sirius radio.
I prefer the look of OEM. Can I simply replace the radio with a newer OEM unit that has these features, or is it more complicated than that? If I can replace it with an OEM unit, which one?

Our 6CD Radio indicates all the CD Slots are full and there are no CD's in it. It will not "load", just says "CD Error". I purchased another USED radio same exact Model # and it does the same thing. Do I have (2) bad radio's which do the exact same thing? Or is there something else in the vehicle which would make the radio's indicate this? Like rear controls?

I just bought a new JCV radio and i want to replace it with the oem radio in my truck. My truck is a 1996 Ford F250 XLT. I bought the wire harness and one connects to my radio and the other connect to the grey and red wire coming out of my dash, now there is another connector coming out of the dash that is black and i believe it is for the speaker but, i can't find an adapter to fit it . Is there a male or female adapter that i can plug it to it and the splice the other end to the harness that i bought?

What is the output wattage of a 2013 Single CD Radio/. I've scoured the Internet and found nothing. I wanted to make some comparisons between the factory radio and some of the aftermarket boxes.

My friend left the windows open in my 2003 ford escape while it was raining, and now my radio won't work.. Nothing shows up on the led(I think?) part where the time and radio station are supposed to show.. The only thing that works on the radio is that when you turn the headlamps on, the numbers, buttons, and volume dial light up.. Will the radio need to be replaced? Or is there something I can do to fix it

Just installed a new jvc kd-s48 stereo and it cuts out for a half a second every couple seconds. Kind of like a scratched cd but it's with the tuner and mp3. The sound "stumbles" and then it very quickly raises back up. it sort of seems like if I wiggle the wires in the back it'll stop. I will check all connections, I use female and male spade connectors and then shrink wrap over each connection. Could it be a faulty deck?

I have a 1999 F-350 crew cab. I have a fusion active bass tube in the back, and my family went to Tahoe, so I took out all the bass tube but the wires had to be left in the truck. I thought I capped the wires but I guess I didn't or the cap came off. Anyways, I was plugging the wires back into the bass tube when I got home and there was a big spark, I think the ground wire and the wire connected to the battery touched. Now the radio does not work at all. I'm guessing I blew a fuse, I don't know how to fix it, or what fuse that would need to be replaced.

I have a 2012 F250 XLT. I have the stock 1CD changer. I am considering one of the fancy touch screen radios with nav. Need to know if my wiring would be compatable with this type of radio? If so are there any recommendations out there for a system? I saw one Astrium GEE-2865. I don't know anything about them though.

2008 F250 KR Superduty with full Nav, CD, DVD,Sirius..... So one day last week I get in my truck and no sound from the radio (yes I adjusted the volume) when on Sat Radio. Changed it to FM, no problem worked great, AM same thing worked great. Navigation no problem, CD jammed to ZZ Top. Back to Sat radio and nothing. Called Sirius, account up to date (wife and sons car radio still working), sent reset signal 3 times, no go. So I played around and finally just turned to volume all the way to Max and I could hear a faint sound of music. So radiophiles WHATS WRONG WITH MY SAT RADIO!

First time ford owner so am not familiar with any quirks in the vehicle. Anyhow, about a year ago I replaced the head unit for the previous owner without any problems. All my connections are good and I rechecked them this morning. The problem is all the rear speakers cut in and out for no particular reason.
I have tested this even with the engine off just on acc. I have manipulated the wiring harness in the dash and I can't make it cut out or in so I am inclined to think something is that triggers a relay near the center armrest is the source of the issue. That relay is switching every time but I have yet looked into that. Is this a common issue?
The vehicle just had the BCM (I think that's what it's called on a ford) replaced because of a similar random relay issue in the right kick fuse panel causing the headlights to randomly flicker.
