I really would like to add steering wheel controls on my 2001 expedition. I only have cruise controls on there now, and don't want to add that little stick on remote thing... Anyway to possibly make dual use of the cruise control buttons already in place? All I really care about are volume controls anyway.
View 6 RepliesI bought my truck as a 2012 base XLT model, with no Sync and no audio control buttons on the right-hand side of the steering wheel. Since then, I have retrofitted in the stock navigation / audio system, added the Sync module, and installed a new steering wheel which came with the proper audio / sync controls on the right-hand side.
After installing the steering wheel, all of the buttons on both the left and right sides light up properly at night, and the controls on the left side for cruise and the message center still work fine. I had the dealer reprogram the SCCM to the VIN of a 2011 Lariat truck which had nav. However, they told me they could not get the wheel controls to work and ended up reprogramming the SCCM back to my VIN.
I would really like to get this to work. In consulting with the company that set me up with the navi and Sync, they said there may be some module which acts as a gateway between the SCCM and the audio system, but not really sure which module that is. Could be the BCM or the instrument cluster.
The factory stereo in my Elantra 2015 sedan does not have bluetooth and the steering wheel does not have the audio controls on the left side. I want to replace the factory stereo with a bluetooth stereo and add audio controls to the steering wheel. If I get the same audio controls that are on Elantras with bluetooth will they work? Is the wiring or wiring harness present for the audio controls? Would the car computer have to be reprogrammed?
View 31 RepliesFirst time ford owner so am not familiar with any quirks in the vehicle. Anyhow, about a year ago I replaced the head unit for the previous owner without any problems. All my connections are good and I rechecked them this morning. The problem is all the rear speakers cut in and out for no particular reason.
I have tested this even with the engine off just on acc. I have manipulated the wiring harness in the dash and I can't make it cut out or in so I am inclined to think something is that triggers a relay near the center armrest is the source of the issue. That relay is switching every time but I have yet looked into that. Is this a common issue?
The vehicle just had the BCM (I think that's what it's called on a ford) replaced because of a similar random relay issue in the right kick fuse panel causing the headlights to randomly flicker.
I have an 08 f150. Doing an Alpine iva w203 head unit. The back of the factory radio has two harness plugs, one is bigger than the other. A third plug is the ant. which needs an adapter too....but the root question is...... The bigger of the two is the harness that adapts to plug into the new unit, what is the second OEM smaller plug for that has no spot to plug into the alpine unit? does it just sit there not plugged in now?
Is the second smaller plug for the steering wheel controls? is this where I connect the SWI-JACK adapter that allows the steering wheel controls from the truck to go to the radio? if so, where do i find a harness adapter to plug into this second OEM harness?
I would like to add the stereo controls to my steering wheel. From what I gathered it can be done by just buying the buttons and the taking it to the stealership to flash the computer to get them to work? BTW This is on my 06 XLT Scab.

Question 1 - When I ease into acceleration, my truck starts kicking/ jerking. But if I step on the gas to punch it, it gets up and goes, no kick. While the kick/ jerking happens, the tack doesn't move and the speedometer don't do anything abnormal! What that might be?
Question 2 - this truck came with a VHS player in it, and it doesn't work. The VCR is turning on, but not the screen. Is there a certain way to turn the screen on?
Most will agree it would be nice if the steering wheel controls were brighter. There has to be a tech out there that knows where the light source comes from. ( Its not magic.) If its a bulb,can a brighter one be installed??

I don't seem to see one? I have the upgraded audio with digital. I checked the TOC and can't seem to find anything about this. Am I missing something?
View 24 Replies2013 F-250. Sync. No navigation. I am able to pair my Android cell phone to the truck and all works fine. Can send and receive calls using the voice commands etc. I am also able to play music from my bluetooth enabled LG V10 android cell phone. When I start the truck, it automatically detects my cell phone, connects to it and begins playing music from my cell phone through the truck stereo. And therein lies the problem.
My question is, is there a way to tell the truck to go ahead and connect to the cell phone, but don't start playing music. In other words, I don't want the truck to launch the music player on my cell phone. I always have to either turn off the player on my cell phone or give the "pause" command through bluetooth audio.
On my '06 XL F350 I want to know if and how I can hook up an auxiliary input. It has the AUX button ,but it doesn't have any aux audio port in the dash anywhere like some of the nicer F-series have. When I push the AUX button, the screen reads "NO AUX AUDIO". Is there an adapter I can buy to plug in the back so I can actually have and auxiliary input?
View 3 RepliesI use my touch screen a lot on my prius. When I do use my steering wheel controls for the radio it won't change from station settings 1-2-3. But it will change stations on station settings 1-2-3. Is it possible to use the steering wheel controls to go through all of the radio stations? This might allow me to stop using my touch screen controls so much.

View 1 RepliesOwner of a brand new '13 Prius C Two. No "Entune" system, just the basic radio. I connect my iPhone 5 via Bluetooth; it works wonderfully. I can still use the handset controls to make phone calls; I have speed dials set up, and using my iPhone 5 as a phone in the car works great.
What stopped working this morning: skipping tracks using either the "Seek" button on the Prius radio itself as well as the controls on the steering wheel. Volume controls on the radio itself AND on the steering wheel work just fine for adjusting the volume.
The "Pause/Play" button on the Prius radio does work, but only after about :04 seconds or so. A song or podcast will play; the steering wheel controls for skipping tracks does not work; same with the Seek button on the radio itself; and pressing the pause/play button works, but not immediately after depressing it. Takes a few seconds.The only way to skip ahead/backward is on the iPhone itself.
For the almost 2 months I've owned the Prius C, this is the first time this has happened. Connecting audio via Bluetooth has "just worked" every single day. What's perplexing about this is that I've changed nothing on the iPhone overnight. The Seek button on the Prius radio worked fine yesterday, as did the steering wheel controls not even 24 hours ago.
The Seek button on the radio itself does work with the radio and a CD. Same with the steering wheel controls; as long as I'm not trying to control the iPhone, it works fine.

View 6 RepliesSo i have this whistle/wine through my system when running the Sirius thingy. It seems to correlate with rpm... Higher the rpm... higher pitched the whine/whistle...
The pitch of the whistle almost matches my turbo whistle. The Sirius is powered through the cigar lighter port. Aux audio 3.5mm cord from Sirius to the stereo head.
I replaced my Entune unit on my 2013 Persona with a Pioneer Avic Z150BH, best decision I ever made. I expected to lose steering wheel controls for the radio and hands free, but I did not expect to lose the steering wheel controls for my climate control and multi function display. I can no longer use the Disp, Trip, and climate control buttons now.
View 7 RepliesI recently got a 2015 f450 XL service truck and was wondering if the factory sync system with steering wheel controls could be added or would I be better off swapping in an aftermarket radio? And the remote start, fog light and brake controller kits are the same from the pickups to the chassis cabs correct? Last question is that I found the truck has global window open but doesnt remotely close is that correct?
