View 1 RepliesI have an 08 f150. Doing an Alpine iva w203 head unit. The back of the factory radio has two harness plugs, one is bigger than the other. A third plug is the ant. which needs an adapter too....but the root question is...... The bigger of the two is the harness that adapts to plug into the new unit, what is the second OEM smaller plug for that has no spot to plug into the alpine unit? does it just sit there not plugged in now?
Is the second smaller plug for the steering wheel controls? is this where I connect the SWI-JACK adapter that allows the steering wheel controls from the truck to go to the radio? if so, where do i find a harness adapter to plug into this second OEM harness?
I have a 2006 F250 XLT Super Crew. I want to add an in dash double din DVD and run a flip down monitor from it for the back seat passengers. Now I can see an outline in the ceiling where the previous owner had one at one point and removed it prior to selling the truck.
I cant do headrest monitors due to the fixed headrest. When I look at the headliner there isn't much of a flat surface to mount to the head liner has two drop down pieces, one at the dome light and one 8" or so to the rear of the vehicle.
Installing a flip down monitor in this vehicle or one similar? if so how did you get the head liner to secure to the monitor and not leave a gap? I'm looking at a 14" Tview TFT monitor from Car ID.
My XLT did not come with tweeters in the upper location near the door handle. Adding factory tweeters there..... I know how to wire them up but would like to know part numbers, pictures or any tips about install........
View 1 RepliesI am trying to install a 3 foot fiberglass cb antenna on a 2005 Ford F150 pickup truck. I originally was installing on the hood, using the hood channel mount, but in order for me to be able to get in and out of the garage without hitting/damaging the antenna on the garage door, I was going to have to go down to a 2 foot antenna. I don't want to have to go down to a 2 foot unless I just have to, so I am willing to relocate the antenna to another location.
The problem is this. I am limited to the places I can relocate. I could simply relocate it and mount to the bed rail, but I have an Undercover tonneau cover that overlaps all the way over the sides. One place that I was thinking about trying was between the cab and the bed, mounting it vertically in the center on the bed side. I could temporarily remove the tonneau cover to make installing the vertical mount easier. Is there somewhere else I should consider mounting?
I have a 2016 F-350 Lariat. I want to install a second backup camera (high mount) to see my fifth wheel hitch when hooking up. It will be located either near or in the third brake light. I really do not want to add another display or change the OEM display. My question; is there any way to add a second camera input the the OEM head unit? Or can I use the A/V inputs and disable the OEM Backup Camera when I want to use the high mount.

I've read that some people are replacing their door speakers like I want to do and reporting much better sound. My question is now that I realize I have the audiophile system, it is still worth swapping these speakers and will it be better sound? I bought 2 pairs of Pioneer TS-A6886R 6x8's.
I had a 98 Lexus GS 400 and I upgraded the stereo with an head unit, amp and all the door speakers and disconnected the subwoofer and actually liked how it sounded. I guess the upgraded speakers were so much better that the subwoofer wasn't needed.
So Should I try to bypass the factory tweeters and subwoofer and run everything into these newer supposedly better 4 way speakers in the door? Or just plug in the new speakers and let tem act as mid ranges?
BTW Do I need to remove entire door panel or just grills? It seems pretty straight forward for wiring. Anything I should know?
Have my new-to-me 2006 F250 and managed to wire up my back up camera, USB connectors, and run the wire for my microphone. My only hang-up is trying to get the wire to stay up under the headliner. I ran it across under the steering wheel, up the A-pillar, and out behind the headliner and I want to attach it on the side of the overhead console. I tried simply stuffing the cable between the roof and headliner but that didn't seem to work. Trying a non-permanent solution so not wanting to use glue or other adhesive in case I need to replace the mic someday. Can successfully make mic cord stay underneath the headliner?

Need to know if my wiring would be compatable with this type of radio? If so are there any recommendations out there for a system? I saw one Astrium GEE-2865. I don't know anything about them though.
View 14 RepliesI'm going to replace the bone stock/non-"Pioneer Audio System" radio with a new Pioneer head unit in my 2007 Ranger Super Cab. After looking at the wiring between the third-party Metra Ford adapter and the supplied Pioneer harness, I'm left with a couple of connections that must be made to other wiring harnesses in the dash.
First up is a wire from the supply side of the parking brake switch; the second is to the supply side of the Reverse lights. These are in the Pioneer harness and both are about 12" long, so I'm guessing the connections can be accessed fairly close to the radio well in the dash.
Installing a new Pioneer radio in their 2007, and where did you pick off those two connections?
Installing a Pop N Lock on a 2016? What were the wire colors you tapped into?

I have looked at Pioneer AVH units...
I plan on moving the engine/drivetrain from my 1986 F350 460 to my 1996 F250. I also want to move over the 1986's ignition system with a Duraspark 2 setup.
Although I could just cut in the easiest places to remove the wiring for later reuse I am looking for where to make the cuts, what to take and what to scrap. Alternatively I am also asking if there are aftermarket or OEM replacement sets out there are aren't a ton of money. The current harness in the 1986 has been sprayed with engine oil and cooked for 27 years so I am looking at alternative options if there are any.
I've got a 99 f-150 lariat 4x4, I recently got a hold of an overhead console from an '01 f-150. Is there any tricks or tips, to installing one of these?
View 1 RepliesI have a 1999 F-350 crew cab. I have a fusion active bass tube in the back, and my family went to Tahoe, so I took out all the bass tube but the wires had to be left in the truck. I thought I capped the wires but I guess I didn't or the cap came off. Anyways, I was plugging the wires back into the bass tube when I got home and there was a big spark, I think the ground wire and the wire connected to the battery touched. Now the radio does not work at all. I'm guessing I blew a fuse, I don't know how to fix it, or what fuse that would need to be replaced.
View 2 Replies2013 F-250. Sync. No navigation. I am able to pair my Android cell phone to the truck and all works fine. Can send and receive calls using the voice commands etc. I am also able to play music from my bluetooth enabled LG V10 android cell phone. When I start the truck, it automatically detects my cell phone, connects to it and begins playing music from my cell phone through the truck stereo. And therein lies the problem.
My question is, is there a way to tell the truck to go ahead and connect to the cell phone, but don't start playing music. In other words, I don't want the truck to launch the music player on my cell phone. I always have to either turn off the player on my cell phone or give the "pause" command through bluetooth audio.
On my '06 XL F350 I want to know if and how I can hook up an auxiliary input. It has the AUX button ,but it doesn't have any aux audio port in the dash anywhere like some of the nicer F-series have. When I push the AUX button, the screen reads "NO AUX AUDIO". Is there an adapter I can buy to plug in the back so I can actually have and auxiliary input?
