Ford Aerostar :: Roof Leaking - Factory Weld Joint / Sealant?

Feb 2, 2015

I'm about 90% sure this is the cause of my nuisance leak on my 93 Aero. Upon inspection, I see tiny cracks (some near 1mm wide, most less) longitudinally down the factory seams (gutters) in the roof. I've had a small leak which manifests itself right above the drivers rear cubby hole (jack within).

Unless I hear otherwise, plan to buy a caulking tube of Butyl rubber sealant from NAPA and run beads the full length of the roof in each corner of those seams. Of course, prepped first for adhesion. I need another 100K out of this Van!

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Roof Channel Sealant Cracking?

I was checking out a rust spot in the roof and upon closer inspection also saw that the sealant in the channels is cracked on the edges. Can't tell if there is rust in there too or just dirt.

Camry :: Leaking Coolant, Sealant In Between Transmission Halves

2003 camry le 4cyl 197,000 miles and is butter smooth. Leaking coolant somewhere. Not hoses, not water pump. I dont see anything or smell coolant. I looked under and see three bright red drops of oil on my trans. I jack it up and clean it. Appears the sealant in between the two transmission halves is weeping. Used to be an off yellow color now red and three drops of oil along seam.

Ford Aerostar :: 1997 - Factory AC System Staying On Defrost

97 Aerostar 3.0. Factory A/C system staying on defrost. Going to check and replace as necessary all under hood vacuum lines as soon as it cools down. I can already see some cracks in the plastic lines.

But. Just in case, where is the actuator for the door that directs the air flow either to the dash vents or defroster vents etc? Is it the one I can see from under the hood or in some impossible location?

Ford Fuel System :: 1990 Aerostar - Gas Dripping Onto Exhaust At Y-joint And Evaporating

I have a 1990 Aerostar 4WD, 4L, with about 120k miles. About 6 months ago I started my van and noticed under it that gas was dripping onto the exhaust at the Y-joint and evaporating. I shut off the van and drove another car to work. That evening with fire extinguisher at hand I drove my car up on ramps and quickly got under it looking for the leak. NOTHING. 6 months later...yesterday. I drove for a few blocks from home and notice heavy gas fumes etc. Stopped the van and again gas was dripping onto the Y-pipe joint.

This was an explosive situation... I pulled off the doghouse cover and saw, smelled and touched gas friom on the right top of the engine near the back. My questions are: What could randomly be leaking at this location and is it fixable without pulling the engine. I pushed the van to a secure location and am afraid to turn it on. Maybe I will drain the gas tank before then. I am just now trying to find the schematics for the fuel line delivery stuff. Where to go for a manual.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: U-Joint Cap Came Off - Drain Pan Leaking?

I am currently in a gas station parking lot sitting in my truck on top of a puddle of trans fluid because my u joint caps came off goin 80 down the highway. When i pulled over i noticed the transmission was leaking. I put putted along goin about 5 miles an hour trying to keep the vibrations to a minimum till i came across the next gas station. After further inspection, of course, i saw the caps off of the u joints, but i notice a leak that seens to be coming from my drain pan, like the gasket isnt sealing off. Ive been sitting here for about 2 hours waiting on the tow truck and have made a puddle about 4-5 wide. Why I am losing trans fluid. I don't understand what the u joints busting out has to do with the transmission.

Honda - Odyssey :: 2006 - CV Joint Boots Are Torn / Leaking

The Honda dealer tells me that both of the van's CV joint boots are torn/leaking. Their recommended solution is to replace both front CV axles at a cost of about $500 per axle.

Is replacing the axle the standard repair when the boot is torn, or is the dealer trying to "over-fix" the problem at a greater cost to me? Can't they just replace the boots (at a lower cost, hopefully)?

Astro - Chevrolet :: 1989 - Leaking Red Fluid Drips From U-joint?

My 89 Astro van is leaking red fluid when parked uphill (slightly) that drips from the u-joint closest to the transmission and only from the part that is in the yoke that goes into the transmission. I dropped the drive shaft thinking wrongly that there would be a bad seal where i thought the yoke went into i thought a second piece, but it is all one piece with a collar. When parked in the garage nice and level it did not seem to leak.

Ford Aerostar :: 1988 - Oil Leaking Down The Pan From Above And Dripping Off Of It

Ok all.. been working on the 88 getting it running (3.0L EB 2wd). It does run now pretty well.. definitely need some suspension work.. but that's a different post. I have had the rear main seal replaced and the oil pan gasket replaced to stop the oil leak. There is a lot less oil on the ground now.. but still leaves spots on the street. It appears oil is leaking down the oil pan from above and dripping off of it to the street. I also had the main cap bolts replaced (one was broken and the end was in the oil pan).

Honda :: Creaking Noise From Under The Truck / Right-front Inside CV Joint Leaking Grease

So... someone smashed in the right front of my Honda Ridgeline about a year ago. Lot's of body work and parts of the steering infrastructure replaced. In for service and they say that the right-front inside CV joint leaking grease. Insurance, no problem we'll replace the axle. Had it done at the dealer, about 2 weeks ago. Since the, I have noticed a "creaking" noise from under the truck. Sounds like a metal on metal joint that should be lubricated but isn't. Only noticeable at very low speeds, stopping or accelerating. Maybe there other times, but hard to tell. Sometimes almost seems like a "clunk". FYI, I don't think this is it, but they also did a front brake job at the same time. 75,000 miles.

Ford Aerostar :: 1989 - Brakes Leaking Distribution Block

My wife's 89 Aerostar is leaking brake fluid from the back side of what is either the distribution block or combination valve. I am not sure which it is but it is the first block you run into following the lines from the master cylinder and it is right below it near the fender well.

The part has been discontinued and is too expensive anyway so I am looking for input as to what this peice is and if / how to rebuild it.

Toyota - Rav4 :: 2002 - Sun Roof Leaking Rain

I have a 2002 Toyota Rav4. I love my car. I do not want to get rid of it. I have a sun roof that's been leaking rain for a long time, probably 5+ years. I haven't gotten it fixed because I have gotten so many different opinions and prices on how to fix it. The first (Toyota dealership) told me they could not simply replace the rubber seal they needed to replace the entire window as well costing $1200 at least. The next mechanic told me, "No problem we'll replace it for $200." Who do I believe? I still want to keep my car.

Lexus GX 2010+ :: Moon Roof Leaking At Carwash

So I go to this fancy laser carwash and notice the back of my head getting wet. Seems the back of the moon roof is letting in water when the high pressure jet passes over, it's not a lot but, this never happened to my other vehicles at the same wash.

I have noticed when the roof opens, it compresses further prior to sliding open. I wonder if it's somehow out of adjustment? I am not getting an "Open Moon Roof" notice on the dash.
