I installed an Old Air products aftermarket air only AC unit in my 71 F-100 and this unit has run perfect for 14 years until this afternoon. I ran the AC on the way to work, cold as usual, and when I left work it will only blow hot air. The clutch is working with the fan switch, the fan is working at all speeds, the compressor is turning and the fuses are all good. What happened?
View 2 RepliesI have a Buick park avenue 1998, 3.8L V6 engine. the problem is: The ac vent on the driver's side blows cold air but on the passenger side blows EXTREMELY hot air. no matter how cold or hot you set the ac it blows at the same temperature on both sides. Florida heat is setting in and my passengers are melting. I am really hopping that is not something to bad and that I can fix it myself. Tip: this started happening after i had the alternator and the battery replaced.

View 9 RepliesI'm having with my truck. During a drive cross country my heat started to go from hot to mildly warm to cold in probably 5 hours. After stopping I checked my coolant level and it was empty. I do have a leaky head gasket and have driven about 18 hours so I'm guessing that's where it went. I could not find a leak anywhere. I filled it back up and left the cap off the reservoir to let any air work it's way out. My heat still blows cold as ice but if I shut off the heat completely and wait ten seconds then turn it back on it will blow warm air for maybe two seconds. What this could be?
View 3 RepliesEvery time I turn my Ex off and start is again I have to turn my A/C completely off then hit the A/C and Recycle button to get air to blow out of the panel vents or it will automatically blow out of defrost vents no matter what setting it was on when I turned ignition off. Is there a blend door actuator/some sort of air diverter on these like my old Yukon XL had? On the Yukon the driver and passenger vents would blow hot and cold.
View 4 RepliesWhen I took my 2004 Expedition to the Ford dealership they said everything looked fine and they couldn't recreate the problem because they are not allowed to go over the speed limit. Here is the issue:
If I drive on the highway over 70 mph for a good amount of time, eventually I can hear the air blow heavily behind the dash board (passenger side front corner) but barely any air blows out the vents. In order to correct the problem I have to stop or slow down below 60 mph. I've tried every combination possible of turning off the unit, turning on the heater, switching from auto to floor, back to auto without any success.
However, occasionally if I go over 70 for a long period of time and deal with the issue until I get to my destination, on a few occasions when I've stopped i can something drop like the a/c vent got stuck behind the dash. Very weird issue and a long trip over this past weekend was very unpleasant and I'm thinking about getting a new car because I can't take this issue any longer.
2004 Ford Escape air conditioner works GREAT when sitting idle. Air conditioner blows HOT air while driving. Seems like the faster I go or the more load on the engine the hotter it blows. Weird?

View 4 RepliesIt seems the local dealership has finally figured out why the rear ac blows warm while the front blows cold. It only took 5 trips.
The part # comes out to F75Z19A522AA or F75Z-19A522-AA. Its listed on Tousley and other online parts outlet but so far all that I have called said it is no obsolete and they are no longer available from Ford.
Rear inlet door actuator - obsolete part? Where I can find this part (I'll even consider used)?
2003 f150 lariat FX4 5.4L ... The heater only blows on defrost, Which vacuum line controls this? is it the black one that runs through the fire wall? What else can I check to narrow the problem down? this truck has the push button/digital controls.

The lines coming out of what I thought was the vacuum pump were molded together going into two separate ports. I plugged both ports. What did I do wrong and what should I plug?
View 3 RepliesOk, so I've got a little of an odd issue. It seems that no matter what I do, the AC is always active. Today I reverse flushed the heater core in my 02 Escape, and verified all hoses were clear. I replaced the thermostat housing (other thread) along with a new thermostat.
But, when I run the car, even with the heat full up and the selector set to the defroster and floor, the ac still blows ICE cold. It seems like it is still engaged no matter what. Winter is coming and I dont want my daughter to freeze (her truck).
I have a 00 Ford Excursion and only heat blows out of the front vents, the temp control doesn't work at all! The back has it's own controls and will come out cold (not a/c just the outside air) when the front is on (blasting heat). What this could be?

View 1 RepliesSeems like the temp control on the dash isnt hooked up....with just the heat on...temp doesn't change....stays hot. if i turn the temp to the blue side its still hot. the AC on it blows hot air....Max AC its cool. AC compressor is working fine.
View 9 RepliesTested/checked the blend door, actuator, Low pressure cycling switch, compressor clutch and they all work. The accumulator does not condense, or at least that I've noticed. The gauge on a can of R134a reads 55 at 85 degrees outside. Anything else I can check to diagnose a problem?
View 4 RepliesI've noticed that my X in the winter does not seem to warm up as it should. I watch the temperature gauge and notice that it barely gets to the first mark in the operating zone of the gauge. The heater blows warm air but not hot. I think its the thermostat that needs replaced because in other vehicles I would see the temp gauge rise and then drop when the thermostat opened. I've flushed the radiator and changed the fluid and not difference. I did find the heater valve on the right side was unhooked from the vacuum line and plugged it back in but no change from that being connected. Anything else I should check?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2002 Ford Taurus which I bought in the Winter and didn't check the air conditioner. It only blows hot air on any setting, some settings blow more hot air than others. I will have to pay to remove the dash to find out. Here's the weird part, last summer the coolant was a little low and I was stuck in a drive thru line. I watched the temperature go up until, lo and behold, the air conditioner kicked in and blew frigid air! It came on and worked twice more that day. I filled up the coolant and it hasn't worked since.
