Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Excessive Blue Smoke Under Load?

Ok, I have owned my truck for almost a year and it has 151,000 miles. I have noticed on a few occasions puffs of blue smoke and especially at night in the headlights behind me I notice a lot of smoke when I'm getting into the throttle hard. Under normal driving conditions I don't usually see anything.
Today I noticed it when I was backing my camper(8000lbs) up a small hill onto the side of my garage. It was puffing blue pretty good going up the hill while it was under load.
I have no check engine light on, the truck seems to be running fine. My oil consumption is about 2 quarts every 3-4000 miles. I tried the blow by test with the oil cap but besides some smoke out the filler neck no problems... I don't know very much about diesels so for me to try and trouble shoot this is a problem.

2005 F250, 6.0, 60K miles, recently (within last 1K miles) had ARP studs, EGR delete and new oil cooler installed. Shortly after (5-6 weeks later) I noticed blue smoke under any load (taking off from red light, backing up) but not at idle or startup. Was using the "Performance" SCT canned tune after the stud install, but had the "65HP Tow" canned tune installed when I first noticed the smoke and now back to stock after noticed the smoke as a precaution. Everything else original except FICM, filters and batteries and use 5w40 Mobil 1 since new.

Yesterday went to get on the freeway I looked back and saw a cloud of what looked like blue smoke. I'm in northern Utah and it's cold but the truck runs fine, I haven't noticed any change in performance. Turbo still builds boost. I pulled the fuel filter cap last night to check fuel color and it was clean.
I do have the CCV mod done. I also pulled to IC Pipe off the turbo and there was a little oil in there but not much, should there be any at all with the CCV mod? Where to start.

I have a 2001 F-350 w/7.3. There was excessive smoke coming from the exhaust. So the first thing I did was to pull the glow plugs to see what they looked like. and while having them out I cranked the engine over. Upon doing so I noticed 1 cylinder putting fuel out of the hole. Meaning it was like you could put your hand about 6 inches above the hole and your hand would be wet from fuel. None of the other cylinders was like that. So what I did was pull the injector from the cylinder next to it and put it in to see if it was the injector failing. But it was still doing the same thing. What would cause this??

Recently since the weather has been cold. between 0-30 degrees or so. My 2002 7.3 with 161k on it is smoking a decent amount i think. far more than i ever remember it smoking thats for sure! anyways its a combination of blue and white smoke and it doesnt last long when the truck starts maybe 1 minute and the smoke stops.
But I also notice when i rev the truck maybe around 1200 rpms the engine shakes very bad. so i was thinking maybe a glow plug went bad making the engine seem like its missing. but even when its warm i rev it up to 1200 and i still feel the engine shake slightly. Maybe im just being picky when its warm? I need to test the glow plugs and go from there but i want opinions about that issue. the truck sits for 4 hour periods and every time i start it i have smoke. I will pay attention tomorrow morning if it smokes after being plugged in all night and post my findings.
My other issue and this typically happens when its below 20. sometimes i will go to accelerate after coming to a complete stop and the truck kinda has a very weak rev to it then just takes off like the tps took a break on me. sometimes i have had it jerk the truck when the throttle catches and other times it creeps at first then takes off like a boost of power.
lastly and this little issue happens most noticeable at 35 mph. i feel a surging im thinking this is related to the tps but i put the truck on cruise control and i still feel the surging. maybe this ties into my second issue? bad TC? ive plugged in my scanner and the only thing jumping out at me is the icp hunts about 100 psi or more at idle. i plan on doing a WOT test on the HPOP, ICP and IPR tomorrow and see if maybe this is just a weak hpop causing my issues.
Repairs i have done:
new 8th injector and all new injector seals about 25k miles ago.
new ipr
new icp
have CCV mod done and 4 inch turbo back exhaust
new map sensor
cleaned out the EBP sensor and tube but that was probably 40 or 50k ago now.
gray cps and i cant remember when i put that on.
gutted the EBPV
bellowed up pipes
no tunes the truck is factory as far as that goes.

Got a 2002 7.3 F-350 with 300,000 miles and for the last couple of years I've been getting blue smoke on cold morning start ups and its been gradually getting worse, it clears up after about 30 seconds and all is normal,No loss of performance, Oil consumption is minor, however I hate a vehicle that blue smokes, I'm guessing my issue is valve seals are worn, I was wondering if it is possible to replace the seals while the heads are on the engine? and was also wondering how much time it would take to fix? as i would have to have it professionally done. I know its hard to guess a time frame and everyone is different. Sounds like textbook valve seals to me but is there anything else I should check first?

Early 99 7.3. Runs ok has a slight miss at idle however every injector when unhooked makes a change. Has white and blue smoke From the exhaust. Has enough blow by to blow the oil cap off as your unscrewing it. My question is, I know engine restore is bad for these trucks but I can't afford to rebuild the engine. If I run the restore and then clean the IRP once the truck dies is this going to mess anything else up. Do you think it will by me a few months to save up for a rebuild

I have installed a delete kit and a H&S chip on my 2009 F350 6.4 powerstroke , I installed the mild tune and run in street level. When I accelerate fast from 20 to 70 it puts out a little black smoke but as soon as I let off to maintain speed it starts blue smoke really thick and runs rough , it will eventually stop after 5 or so miles but if I accelerate it will puff blue each time for a bit longer. What could be the issue?

I have a 2001 F450 7.3 chassis cab with just over 100k. I have a new problem... So far on two different occasions the service engine came on followed by a loss of power under a load and white smoke from the exhaust. Took it to the shop the first time, they determined it to be a dirty air filter, which seemed odd since it just happened all of a sudden. They changed air & fuel filter, problem gone- for two weeks..

Was hauling a bobcat this AM and noticed something odd in my rear view. Under steady accelleration (either light or heavy foot pedal pressure - steady either way), the exhaust would puff out sporadic extreme dark clouds of smoke. The puffs weren't fast like every cylinder rotation.. but every second or so.. puff of very thick black smoke mixed in with the expected black smoke we see.
Truck has 350k miles with regular oil changes. Year ago someone hooked the injectors up to the computer software (buzz test) and all of them checked out to be in very good condition.
The same tech pointed out some dark blowby at the uppipe on the back of the engine. Other than that the truck is in pretty good condition for its age. What could the sporadic very thick/dark puffs of black smoke indicate?

I got 2000 tdi with 270000km on it and have a few issues with it and am looking for some information before i start doing some work to it.
First problem excessive blue smoke on start up also runs ruff tell it warms up.
Second the is a screeching noise on start up some times. happens most of the time when the car is cold.
Third sounds like something is dragging or rattling but i have checked and there is i can see.
Fourth when the clutch is in and the brake is on the car runs ruff at idle. i think it has something to do with vacuum used for the brake booster but not sure.

two days ago i noticed First start in the morning the truck billows out blue smoke. In mean is enough that looks like an old 2 stroke dirt bike. Quite alarming. I've had HHS in for 4300 miles or so. I hope I did not mess the engine up by towing With the HHS in there. The injectors have been getting loud an indication that i need to change the oil again. The truck always gets louder when nearing oil change time. It reminds me of an old chevy with bad valve seals. Would turbo seals just go. The smoke goes away after driving maybe 2 min well i can't see it while driving. Truck runs smooth doesn't stutter or miss. It has been acting like the stiction is happening upon first starting after sitting for 6+ hours.

I noticed a few puffs of blue smoke a while back as well as oil at the seam of the exhaust tubing. I attributed it to bad turbo oil seals and proceeded to rebuild the turbo. Changed oil at the same time from T6 to T5, 15-40. The blue smoke is quite a bit less, but still shows at idle and not all the time.
First start up of the day, slight haze. I leave the house when the oil temp gets above 100 and drive easy until it gets to 160. I will get a pretty good train of smoke until the oil temp gets above 180 at every stop while I'm idling. When the oil temp gets above 180, it will only smoke every 3rd or 4th stop at idle. If I hold the brake and get the RPM's over 1,000, the smoke dramatically decreases, if not completely dissipates.
I do have the CCV rerouted and am wondering if it is affecting the operation of the engine.

I have a 2010 lancer evolution, intermittently under light to no acceleration the car emits a large cloud of blue-grey smoke from the exhaust accompanied by noticeable oil consumption. This only happens when in 5th or 6th gear or when it changes from 5th to 6th. It only seems to happen when accelerating onto the highway or when going up an incline in a high gear. It only ever lets out smoke when under 2500rpm, never above 2500 and only for a second or two. if I downshift to 5th while this is happening, it stops. I'm at a loss as to why its burning oil.

I have an option to buy a e450 with a 6.0, 100k mi, with a utility body. I have the same thing but an 03 with a 7.3. this van has some known issues, biggest being it sat for a year and a half. it was parked due to excessive smoke out the exhaust. Ford shop diagnosed it as bad head gaskets, personally I am not believing it. There is no evidence of puking on the degas cap, and someone removed the band clamp from the down pipe and there is nothing but a little soot, so I don't really think a turbo seal either. The batteries were dead tonight so I am going to take a set of batteries down and see what happens. he is only asking 6000 as is. I am thinking probably egr cooler, egr valve or injector problem. If I buy it I am going to install a new oil cooler, blue spring, clean the turbo and delete the egr. Late 2004 engine btw.

Alright so In January had head gaskets done on my truck and when I got it back it Dont have any low end power and I noticed it was using oil. If I let it idle 15 min or so and rev it up it blows out a bunch of blue smoke and smells like oil bad. Been trying to figure out whats going on. Ive only put about 800 miles on it since I got it back for the head gaskets And its burned at least 3 quarts of oil. Its going to the shop on Monday gonna start with compression check and go from there I'm Thinking Its valve seals or a bent valve. But machine shop surface and pressured checked the heads. Truck only has 146000 miles on it shouldn't be having these lined of problem. Its an 03 5.4.....

I have a 04 f350 with 175k on it. At around 160k it had new head gaskets, 2-reman heads, egr delete, new oil cooler and it is studded and tuned with SCT and custom tunes.
Since after the head gasket change it seemed to have started blowing a little smoke on the cold starts mainly. In cold weather the starts seem to be harder or slower also. Now for the last 6k-8k miles there is a little smoke at a cold start. But if the motor is warm and it sits for a bit maybe 10 min or less it blows a nice puff of blue smoke or burnt oil.
The smell of burnt oil is mainly on hot starts not cold starts. It does not burn oil running. It will dump some black smoke under acceleration or load. Could this be an injector problem? Or something else? Can't figure it out.

My 04 6.0h started puffing bluish colored smoke typically only when I was accelerating. After a short amount of time I noticed it was smoking quite a bit when cold and until it had fully warmed up. I took it to the repair shop and they pulled it apart saying the turbo seal had failed and the turbo was full of oil. I purchased a new Garret PowerMax and had it put it in.
I picked up my truck and of course it was still smoking when cold. After it warmed up nothing, just like before. Since I just put a new turbo in I am worried this one will be ruined as well since the same condition exist. My mechanic said I need to run the truck for few days before the oil would get cleared out which had accumulated in the system. Am I mistaken in thinking that if it was residual oil burning that it would be more likely to do smoke when warm as opposed to when cold?
Since the turbo and seal have now been replaced what else should I look for to cure my blue smoke blues?

Replaced stock turbo on my 04 f350 zf6 with a newer stock turbo from an 05 6.0 excursion with a wicked wheel. Truck never smoked before ever for any reason. Now with the new turbo the truck puffs out white and blue smoke when turbo is spooling up in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear but once turbo is spoiled up no smoke at all. 4th and 5th no smoke at all. What could be my issue? Truck runs great no sputtering or missing or anything. I rebuilt injectors about two months ago so those are good.

05, 170k miles. Studded and egr delete but I don't have paperwork on either. Got a pretty good deal on the truck but I have a few questions..
It runs and starts great, warm and cold, with only a little blue smoke on cold startup. but every now and then when idling (say at a stoplight) the engine gets noticeably rougher, not terrible. No smoke. Goes away after 5-10 seconds.
When I remove the oil cap, there is a "puffing" blow by, not constant, and its not enough to blow the cap off if I set it on backwards. Just puffing.
This may be related, but I pulled the starter wire off the drivers side and touched it to the battery to hear how it cranks, and there is a noticeable blip in the cranking, its not 100% smooth.
Don't think I am losing any coolant. Runs great, getting 15MPG. No CEL. I went and had a relative comp. check done, cylinder 7 is the problem. We both are leaning toward there being a valve problem So I pulled the valve cover, now I have a few questions.
1. When I crank the engine over without starting, I can hear a "pfft....pfft....pfft" chug of air every revolution. I pulled the cover to see if I had a obvious rocker problem, but can't see anything because the oil rail is in the way. I'm guessing this air puff is sign of a valve problem?
2. When the truck is running, there is a small, steady stream of oil running down the rail and dripping onto the valve cover mating surface of the head, I think it was at every injector, definitely 2 of them. Was getting dark, so hard to see. Is this normal, or do I have a leak? Truck has updated dummy plugs.
My next step is probably going to be pull the rail, see if there is a obvious problem, then pull the head. And tips for me? Planning on having the HVAC evacuated then pulling the airbox.

2004 f250 6.0, 173k miles. I just had the head studs done and a new head due to a crack in one head, I got it back 3 days ago and she was running great. I towed my landscape trailer yesterday full of mulch and only went about 5 miles with the load, after the job driving to another one I noticed it sounded like it was missing at idle with a small amount of white smoke. Drove it home let it sit overnight, started it up this morning and a cloud of white/ blue smoke and a horrible rough idle. Smoke does not stop.
