Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2000 - Error Code P0472 - Low Boost / 0 PSI EBP?

Jul 24, 2016

2000 truck, 334k, automatic 2wd, stock. Have low power, 11psi max.

Permanent p0472 code, can't clear it even temporarily. The moment I turn the key to Acc, code is there. It's the only code showing on Forscan.

Tried 470ohm 1/2watt resistor, in two turbo pedestal sensor connector wires, no change. Forscan shows 0.0-0.6 psi EBP value when running.

No change with pedestal sensor plugged or unplugged. Resistor or not. Truck starts and runs good, low power is the only issue.

Sensor and tube are new. Seems like wiring is bad, where to look next to track this down?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2000 - Got Error Code P1464?

Well I thought my truck was 100%, and I was going to installed a Chip. I decided to get my Forscan up and running to check and make sure.

The Buzz test Passed with no problems.

The cylinder contribution did not pass. I got error code P1464, which Forscan said that #8 failed. FYI, I turned the A/C on and the test failed. I ran it again with the A/C off and it failed again. I might have the wrong code

I then went to where you could select the gauges to view(PID's). And I saw where you could select all the cylinders injectors individually. I forgot what it was called, but all injectors were reading close to 0.0% at idle except for #8 it was reading 5.55% to 5.88%.

I am hoping this is good news, since I rather the injector be bad then a piston ring or valve. I just got the Forscan and was wondering what other test or other things I could check to narrow the problem down before removing the Valve covers. The truck runs great and there is no miss and it turns over smooth. No blowbye, just runs great. It is a 2000 F-350 dually with just over 202,000 miles

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Power Loss Throwing P0472?

I just recently bought a 199 E350 4x4. I changed the injectors and it drove a little bit better but was still lacking power and was throwing a p0472(exhaust back pressure code) and a p0113(IAT sensor circuit hight output) code. Last night i put a new ebp sensor and the truck came back to life for about a half mile or so then went right back to the way it was. I took the sensor back off and cleaned it in case it some how got clogged from my short ride. It surprisingly did have some soot in it which i cleaned out. Also blew air into the ebps line while still mounted. Put everything back and still nothing. What could it be? Could i possibly got a bad ebps?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2002 7.3 - 43 PSI EBP All The Time - Codes P0472 And P0475?

As title says, the EBP stays at 43psi key on running or not. MAP is at 13.7psi like it should be. tried a new sensor and also unplugged and no diff. Wiggled engine wiring harness and it never dropped. No tuner. Codes are P0472 and P0475. Truck runs very sluggish. 4.7v on EBP plug

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Code P1249 - Boost At About 20 PSI

I disconnected the red wastegate hose in order to address a low boost high EGT issue. This seemed to fix the boost / EGT issue for the most part, but now I get this P1249 code. The first time I got it I saw boost at about 20 PSI. I figured I would try to keep the boost below 20 in an attempt to prevent the code.

I managed to capture some log info when throwing the code. The highest boost reading I saw was 19.58. Pretty close to twenty but I question if I even should be getting this code at this level of boost?

Here's a chart with the boost info. Yes I still have a very bouncy EBP and hope to track that down at some point as well....

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Code P0472 For EBP Sensor

So my truck decided to throw out the EBP sensor code. I am noticing a bit of power loss and funny noise when I let off the gas. I am 200 miles from home and not near a town or parts store at the house I am working on. Is it safe to drive the tuck the 200 miles back home tomorrow. I have a very important appointment I can't miss. I will be putting the new sensor and harness on tomorrow Evening

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Got Error Code PO475 - Location Of DFPE?

I'm trying to get my truck smogged and having problems w/po475. A friend of a friend said it was the DFPE sensor. So I bought one but can't find where it goes. On YouTube it is only listed for F150's and gas motors it seems. I have a 00 f350SD 7.3, do I even have a DFPE and if so where is it located.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2000 F350 Sluggish - CEL On - Code P1316

Just a heads up when it comes to this code. Today at work I was working on a 2000 f350 that the driver neglected on telling me he had a CEL on and truck was kind of sluggish (drivers are idiots they cant tell the difference) but no miss or any sign of problem except the CEL (he had electrical tape on the cluster. Well I put my AE to see the vitals and immediately code p1316, so I went to do a buzz test revealing that cylinder 1,3,5,7,6 were short to open circuit (forgot the codes) but they all sounded healthy. My next step since it was a quick and easy to do was to check the passenger side uvch to see for burnt pins and what not but everything checked out.

Checked the driver side #6 cyl for the same problem bit a no go. I ohm tested the injectors all of them checked out, wires all the way to the idm checked out so at this point I was in my atemp to see what the hell was going on I decided to install my obs idm on, and guess what happened next it worked immediately the sel did not come up and when I test drove it, my god it felt like a new truck.

Just a side note the idm, had no sign of water damage, and like mentioned to the untrained person most would not tell the difference on how it ran. To anybody that has checked and can't find the problem make sure you really and I mean really check your IDM really good.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2000 - Got Code P1316 - Injector Wiring Harness?

I have a 2000 Ford F550 7.3. I bought a Superchips programmer to read the codes on my truck and up pops this P1316, so I did some research and found out that the most common problem is the injector wiring harness. I bought new valve cover gaskets and the injector wiring as well because the truck is old and I figured new wires wouldn't hurt.

So after installing the new wiring harness and gaskets I'm still getting this Code! The truck idles rough and serge's sometimes, also there is a lack of power and some shaking between 40 and 50 miles per hour, however form 50 to 60 MPH seem's to be just fine. I don't trust the "Mechanic Shops" around here and will only take the truck in as a last resort.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2000 Truck Taking Three Cranks To Start - Code Is P1280

2000 7.3 Excursion. Truck ran fine on a 5 hour trip for family vacation. Pulled and to where we were going turn the truck off then what I had to do I came outside try to restart the truck for the next three days it would take 2 to 3 cranks before it was would start. Then on day number three tried six times and didn't start went to bed woke up the next morning and it took three cranks to start. drove it down to mechanic shop near me they have been troubleshooting and think it's an electrical issue the code is P1280; he said there were a couple other codes too and he would tell me what they were later but he never has. I took him a new CPS a new ICM and a new PCM, none of that fixed it. I am at my wits end here and really have to have my truck for work every day.

2006 F-250 6.0... I'm getting a P0470 error code and no boost, The unison ring is free and clear, the Turbo will not create boost till about 2000 RPM on the road. If I unplug the VGT there is no change in the turbo.

When the vehicle is started there is no tone change in the exhaust. This just started after I replaced a dummy plug in the oil rail. I checked all the connectors as well. I cleaned the EBP and tube.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2000 F250 - Auto Transmission Code / OD OFF Light Started Flashing

I bought this truck with a stock automatic transmission and 260k miles back in October expecting the transmission to be the first thing to go. Recently I had a transmission code, OD OFF light flashing, for the bad speed sensor which i got replaced. Then the OD OFF light started flashing after some hard driving when I would put into neutral or park so I took it back to the mechanic, Hanahan Truck and Auto in Sc. They looked into it and there wasn't any different code in the system but they noticed when you lay into it driving it slips some between 2nd and 3rd gears so that could cause the computer to put in a code.

They said usually a rebuild runs from $2k-2.5k and they also recommended a Jasper reman for roughly $2.8k which comes with a 100k mile 3yr warranty. So I figure replacing the transmission is probably the way to go. Any recommendations for a replacement. I've heard ATS and Sun Coast are decent options that I could build one. I'm looking to stay close to $3k. My truck is a 2000 F250 lariat 4x4 with 268k miles. I'm installing an S&B intake, 4" MBRP exhaust, and DP-Tuner's F6 chip when I get the transmission work done.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: 2000 - Truck Missing And White Smoke Coming Out - Code P1316

Recently I have had many problems with my 2000 7.3l .... The one I cant get rid of is the p1316 code. I have changed out the uvc harness and gasket with new ones, then removed valve cover's to double check connections again and they are fine. I am getting white smoke and the truck misses. I do not have a advanced reader for the codes just using my edge programmer. I have also disconnected the battery and cleared the code but it comes right back.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Boost Leak When Hit 24.5 Psi?

This was briefly discussed as part of another thread. It appears that I have a boost leak when I hit roughly 24.5 psi. The leak seems to stay for a few minutes after showing itself, but then I'm able to produce boosts up to 24.5 again. For example, on my 20-mile/30-minute drive to work, I can make this leak "appear" four or five times, maybe more if I try. Does this self-healing leak ring a bell? I haven't done a boost leak test yet, but I'm leaning towards the RTV sealant at the OEM plenums due to the self-healing attribute.

To add a little info to this thread, I recently installed an S&B intake, 4" exhaust, bellowed up-pipes, RR billet wheel, RR CAC intercooler boot kit with new clamps, RDP reinforcing plenum inserts, AIH delete plug, and I removed the wastegate solenoid along with the red and green tubes. I don't have any gauges, but I recently began monitoring the boost using FORScan. Before all of this, I don't think I was producing enough boost to cause this leak, and I had no way to monitor for this leak.

Well I am at a loss now. Rebuilt the turbo with a new wheel and kit from Riffraff. I still have no power, no boost and no codes. The new wheel whistles. I can hear it. It sounds way better than the old one. But still no power. I really don't know what to do now.

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Black Smoke - Little Power - No Boost Until 2500 Rpm?

Short version is that I just did the EBPV delete with new pedestal and turbo exhaust outlet and put a new turbo middle cartridge in as mine had blown a seal and possibly broken the shaft. Once I got it all put together, I took it for a test drive and it was building 20PSI like it used to but I didn't have the accumulator and turbo mated up fully so I had a leak there.

I corrected that and now don't get any boost until I get to about 2500RPM and then it only builds to about 10PSI. I've double and triple checked all my connections, boots, etc. and everything is tight on the intake, intercooler, up-pipes and collector, exhaust and the spider, I can't see or feel any problems there. I tried disconnecting the MAP sensor and it might be a little better but not even close to normal.

Tried disconnecting the red line from the wastegate and plugging it with no difference. I'm stuck, and frustrated. I do have AE, watching the MGP looks like the MAP sensor is working. I feel like I'm overlooking something simple but I just can't figure out what it is...

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Low Boost / Black Smoke

Bought the x in feb, put in the billeted wheel, modified the turbo pedestal, put in dorman uppies, put my boost leak detector on it and had no leaks then. Also put on the walker btm and gauges at that point. Took my chip to a local to get tunes. I was pleased enough with the power, and can hit 24 psi. However, it smokes like a freight train if I give it much pedal. I don't drive it a ton, but in the last week I did a 400 mile trip to pick up a trailer, then 800 miles on vacation in Colorado. The fender flare by the exhaust is now black.

It has to be pulling a trailer or going up a decent hill while cruising at 70 to show any boost at all on the gauge. If I give it gas, it belches out the smoke, unless I get on it and get the boost to 10 or more. Most of the time while cruising along I don't need to speed up that much so it just smokes and doesn't build more than 2 psi boost.

My f350 by comparison usually runs 4-6 psi boost running down the road at 65, and slight movements of the accelerator can affect that number immediately.

I don't have my leak detector with me so I can't verify that I have no leaks right now, but I can still hit 24 psi... Last night I used oven cleaner and got the whole area around the turbo pretty clean. Drove it 60 miles today, and don't see any soot around anything, maybe it's to soon to tell? Is there anything else I should check, or is it as simple as getting new tunes?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: No Smoke On 140 Tune But Low Boost?

I bought a ts 6 position from kt performance with PHP canned tunes pretty much and on the 140 tune I get no black smoke under throttle, now I would imagine this is normal with stock injectors because im sure the turbo can keep up somewhat. But the problem is I only make 16 psi max so shouldn't I be dumping black smoke? I know the low boost is because I have a hole in the intercooler pipe next to the power steering pump, but do I have low fuel pressure? I would imagine with only 16psi all the fuel will not be burnt. Hpop can hit 2800 and hold 2500. But ipr hit 80% under full throttle at 3k rpm and had trouble shifting but other than that never sees over 45%. I want to know whats going on with the fuel not boost, just to clear things up. And I don't really feel any power loss im stock. 99 f350 7.3 4x4 long bed cc

And just to be clear I am NOT trying to Roll Coal but a nice smoke trail when flooring it past people who cut you off would be nice

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Boost Tops Out At 29 - 30 Psi And 1 - 3 Down The Interstate

I believe I am having spooling issues with my 2000 f250 7.3 automatic truck. I now am running a 67mm billet compressor wheel with a 1.00ar turbine housing and high flow outlet so basically a thrust bearing 38r . I'm running oem sticks and PHP tunes on my hydra. On the 140 tune egts top out at 1200* uphill. So egts are not a problem. Boost tops out at 29-30 psi and 1-3 down the interstate. I see a lot of trucks that can hit 20+ psi in second by just squashing the skinny petal and I could also do this with my oem turbo. Mine takes awhile to get psi up like I said it will hit 30 if I'm petal to the carpet for a few and get going but I feel like it's not spooling as quickly as it "should ".

I completely built this turbo with new parts nothing was reused down to the heat shield behind the turbine wheel inside the turbine housing. I used all American And Canadian built parts . 360 thrust and a banks 1.00 turbine housing. When I bought the turbine shaft and compressor wheel it stated that they where pre balanced and I could clearly see the balancing marks on both but the shaft and compressor wheel are from two different manufacturers so there was no way to be sure that everything would align and be balanced. Basically my question is do you think it would to be wise to have the assembly balanced? Could this be the reason the turbo doesn't spool as fast as my oem gtp38 did . I've been running the turbo for four months now .
