All of a sudden, my turn signal won't stop automatically after making a turn. I read that the multi function lever needed to be replaced. I did, and nothing changed... what is wrong since its not the lever assembly itself?
View 6 RepliesStarted truck, used windshield washer and noticed High Beam Indicator was lit on dash. Headlight switch not on. Drove to Ford dealer, turned off truck, high beams would not shut off. Dealer replaced the Turn Signal/wiper/High beam switch assembly. Dealer had one in stock. Service manager said they have replaced a few of these Switches. So if your High Beams come on without the headlight switch on you cannot turn them off even if you shut off and exit truck. Also the "You left your lights on warning chime" does not sound when you exit truck.
View 14 RepliesThe other day i noticed my turn signal was blinking rapidly. I found that my drivers side bulb was burned out. I am trying to convert most of my lights to LEDs on my truck and figured that I'd replaced the tail lights with LEDs. After replacing both rear taillights with LEDS I still have the rapid blinking turn signal. Whats the deal? is it just the LEDS or what?
View 13 RepliesLast night I was heading home from a two day race and found that my turn signals wasn't working. the running lights are working and obviously i could feel the brakes working.
well i hooked up some jumpers to a 12v battery and the 7 pin and the lights work. to make 100% sure it works i hooked it up to my neighbors Tacoma. it all worked. well..........
On my last f150 when it was new this happened to me too. it ended up being the turn signal fuse on my truck.
I hooked right back to my truck again and just made sure my plug was all the way in and still nothing so i know its my truck side.
Now my last f150 owners manual had a section to where it told you what fuse is what and where. well i don't even see the f250 fuse box is and don't know which one it is to see if its blown.
Hearing a whistle noise after installing the Recon smoked turn signal lense? The whistle starts between 40 and 50 mph and is the driver side only. I have triple checked the installation and it has the same clearance all the way around as the left side. I sent Recon an email on Jan 5th about this issue and still haven't heard back from them.

An issue I noticed right off the bat was that whenever I had the driver side turn signal on, and the brake was applied, the turn signal freezes.
I took apart the tail light and found a concoction of wires...I posted a diagram illustrating what it looks like.
There is this pesky Red wire that is spliced into the tail light bulb socket wire (specifically the green wire).
There is a trailer brake installed...if this means anything. I've tried disconnecting that with no luck on fixing the issue.
How to further troubleshoot would be great...electrical work is not my forte!
I have a 72 F250. When I put the left turn signal on and apply the brakes, the signal stops blinking. I checked the bulb and it was fine. What is the likely cause?
View 2 RepliesIt's starting to become A/C seasons down here and since my truck was new back in October I've not used it much.
When I hit the button to turn on the air conditioning the hvac system likes to enable recirc automatically. This really irritates me. I don't like when my machines do things on their own, assuming that I wanted the recirc on. Presumption is prob my worst pet peeve.
I don't ever have the system on auto, I don't ever use the system in any "auto" way. I set my preferred temp and select where I want the air to flow. If it's too warm I hit the A/C button. Why does the recirc come on by itself? How do I make it stop doing this? The 2011 truck I had never did this.
After disassembling what felt like the whole front end of the truck, I finally gain access to the danged thing. Mine has been acting up intermittently for about year and half I guess. When flipping to switch to signal turning, it started making a buzzing sound. At first it was doing it most of the time. Then it cleared up and started working right for several months, then act up, the act right. Well, now it makes the buzzing noise more often than not so i decided to address it. I went to Oreilly, they didn't have one, but told me the part number.
I went across the street to Autozone, that had one on the shelf that was same part number as Oreilly. I put it in and when flipping the switch, the relay does it tick tock sounds like its working, except for there is no indication on the dash cluster that its working, nor are the actual lights working. I swap back to original and buzzing, put in new one and tick tock but no lights. Whats the deal? Is this one of those things that you have to go back to Ford? Or maybe i got a bum relay from parts house and should exchange for another to see if it works?
03 f350 srw. Today and a few times in the last couple weeks when sitting at a light with truck in gear it has surged a little bit. Not hard enough to make me push the brake pedal harder but noticeable climb and then fall of a couple hundred rpms. I remember hearing or reading of somebody else with the same issue and it ended up being a bad ICP. Checked it koeo when I got home and it was at .35 volts(scan gauge II). I don't recall the right number but that seems higher then what I remember it should be. What else other then pulling the plug and checking for oil should I be looking at? I replaced #5 and #6 injectors about a month ago, and everything seems to be good with that. I don't think the two are related but I'm no expert.

I noticed today that occasionally while making a right hand turn the signal light will not work when you put the lever in the locked position (no dashboard arrow to the right and no front/rear light). I can pull the stalk upward, but not lock it, and it always works correctly. I am thinking a bit of corrosion on a switch, but I thought I would check and see if others have run into this.
View 1 Replies 2003 6.0 psd owned two years driven 2 months due to money thrown prior to forums and scangauge 2. Bought truck in chicago drove home. Oil in coolant. Did egr delete oil cooler all gaskets orings etc. New oil filters motorcraft fuel filters .new rad fluod wix trtmnt. Truck started right up. Still had same intermitantstudder as always when cold. Always exp those sysyems until hot then here and there until parked then hot no start or hard long start when hot. Knew something was wrong and waited for it to come to a head well it did in may.
I was driving coming up to a stop sign and truck died like i shut key off. Refired once off ether. Lasted 3 seconds died no restart period didnt even want to just crank crank crank.
ok towed truck i thought it was injector orings. Changed them still nothing . New icp. New cpm. Now have icp of 66 to 120psi cranking.ipr 14.40 koeo up to 84 when cranking. Ive unplugged just get eratic reading ipr stays same. Checked ficm 47to47.5 cranking and koeo. No codes beside for my egr delete and when i unplugged icp. I've been tinkering on this truck for a couple years now still lost bit getting better. I now have driver valve cover off . Its a 2003 .
2003 F350 6.0 cc 4x4 with 291k... Not sure if I have a problem or not, it happened at a signal light: The light turned green, I pressed the throttle and started to move. As I pressed more, there was no response. Second later it took off and I have had no more problem. What the cause maybe?
View 1 RepliesI've been having an electrical issue for the past few months that I've decided to address now that the weather is getting a little warmer.
What happened is the left turn signal was blinking fast, so I assumed bad bulb, and later that day it stopped blinking fast and now I press the lever down to indicate a left turn and there is a quite loud buzzing sound. Sounds like it's coming from where the relays are, but I've replaced them and the bulbs and still nothing has changed.
I've also replaced the multifunction switch to see if that was an issue, but a new one did the same thing so I returned it.
Running lights work all around, but now there are no left blinkers, and also my left brake light doesn't come on. Pulling a trailer I have the same problem, I had the plug tested and only 3 of the pins have anything to them.
I know nothing about auto electrical systems.
My wife asked me yesterday what was that "clicking" sound when I turned. I never noticed it before, now I notice it constantly.
With the wheels straight - activate either side turn signal. Now turn the whee IN the direction your signal is activated, notice a clic-clic-clic??
Then when you turn back towards straight the signal will de-activate and the clicking is gone. This an indication the multi-function switch is going?
A month ago I got into my truck in the morning and when I turned the key to Run everything lit up like normal and after the glow plugs warmed up, I turned the key and there was about a two second delay between me turning the key and the engine cranking over.
The next couple times I tried starting the truck that same morning I had to try to start it a couple times because it wouldn't try to crank over the first couple times but it would always eventually start.
It's been continuing to give me problems but never stopped running once it was started and then this morning I tried starting it for 45 minutes with no luck.
What I have tried so far is:
Resetting batteries
Jumping the truck
Checked to see if the starter is getting power. ( I put wire testers on it while someone else started and I didn't get a good reading even when it did start. New starter was put in 9 months ago.)
I also made sure wire going to starter wasn't corroded
Battery terminals are also not corroded
Checked fuses
Tried starting truck with fan clutch disconnected
Cussing at it
Tapping starter with a hammer while trying to start it
Also, everything sounds perfectly normal when I turn the key, it just doesn't even try to turn over.
I have noticed my truck makes a front end noise when I make turns, like from a main road to a side street. What seems to cause it is if there is a little dip or bump during the turn. The noise it makes sounds almost like a tire rubbing a splash guard or something. It comes from the drivers side. It he truck is stock with stock tires and wheels and has 4300 mi on it. I was maybe going to take it to the dealer...
View 14 RepliesI bought my 6.0L Diesel about a month ago. Recently when I turn to the left it makes a weird popping sound and gets the "death wobble" If I turn it sharply to the left it will then stop. Last night it got terribly worse and it wobbled at any speed no matter what. I put it up on jack stands and turned the wheel with both tires off the ground, and the sound still happens. I am only by myself and I tried to figure out what is wrong with recording on my phone to see if a ball joint was freezing up but couldn't see. Is there anywhere I should focus on more or less with the camera to see what the issue could be?
View 6 RepliesI've had my Edge CTS for two years and never noticed it turning itself off last summer.
This year, if the windows on the truck are rolled up and the interior is hot, The Edge displays a Red Error code and shuts down. 5-6 miles down the road as the truck has cooled off, The monitor will turn back on. I just don't remember that ever happening last summer, And I'm sure it got as hot as this year.
CTS turning itself off because of interior temps?
After my recent cooling system upgrade and power steering pump/HP hose replacement I am still hearing and feeling the power steering whine. I flushed the fluid and used Mercon V ATF fluid. I jacked the front end up with tires off the ground and cycled the steering lock to lock 100 times or more now and the whine does not stop. Do I need to put a vacuum on the system and try to purge it that way? There was no whine before but I just replaced the pump while I had room with everything out of the way and replaced the high pressure line because the fitting was leaking at the pump. This is very irritating because I thought replacing the pump would be beneficial.
