2013 6.7 F350 13,500 miles... Changed the fuel filters and got them bled out and truck runs OK but have a whining noise from the engine compartment fuel filter area.

View 14 RepliesIve had my 2011 for 20 months. I have 7,300 miles. I know the manual states changing around 22k but do you think time is a factor as well? I wont hit 22k for two years. Truck will be 3.5 yrs old. Should I just change them at 10k and see how they look? Don't want to waste the money either if its unnecessary. I use it 50/50 towing/unloaded.

I changed both fuel filters on my 2015 F350 6.7 I turn the key online for 30 seconds then turned it off for total of 6 times when to start the truck this morning after driving it yesterday and it took a little bit longer to turn over before it finally did, did I miss something up that I do something wrong. So I let my truck warm up this morning after going to start it at took a little bit longer for it to turn over I turned it off wait a few seconds then turned it back on and she started up how she used to perfectly fine does it just need to go through a drive cycle. This is the second fuel filter replacement nothing was wrong with the other ones I'm at 40000 miles now ... also it seems like the fuel filter on the frame rail is louder if you put the filter in upside down on that will it fit stupid question I'm sure I did it right but thought I'd ask before I tear it apart....
View 14 Replies2011 F250 6.7 Had the fuel filters changed by the dealer today. No noticeable sounds when I left the dealership, & no fuel stops on the way home (120 miles one way). When I got home, before shutting off the truck, I heard a loud groaning/singing from inside the truck. With the truck still running, I get out, & the groaning/singing is very pronounced....never heard this before & appears to be emanating from the fuel filter underneath the truck.
I turned the truck off, then turned the key back to the position that the fuel pump turns on, and wow, the pump is very loud. Definitely something going on because when I turn the key for the pump to turn on but not start the truck, I can feel the vibrations of the pump working from inside the truck and when listening from underneath the truck, it is very loud. Before today, the truck never made this noise and never heard the pump before.
Changed fuel filters today. Now my water in fuel light is coming on. But the truck is not running any different no sputtering or anything. ????? Could this be human error
View 14 RepliesI was going to change the fuel filter on my truck yesterday, but couldn't figure out how the guard comes off. It has a bolt but it also has a rivet in it and looks like its all one piece so Id have to drill the rivet to remove. I tried to just spin the housing off.
View 8 RepliesNoticed change in power after changing the fuel filters on 6.7 .... Seems like it has a fuel restriction at times maybe even air somewhere in the line. Thought I felt the truck hesitate after hitting the gas and Cavitating when I hit the gas petal. Both new filters are motorcraft parts. I did follow the procedure after installing filters by turning the key on 6 times waiting 30 seconds in between. Could it be a problem with the fuel pump. I should say I didn't have this until I changed the primary filter.

View 7 RepliesI changed the fuel filters today and saw a couple of small pieces of what looked like aluminum or aluminum foil in the bottom. Nothing in the filter itself it still looked good. I will try to post pictures later but I'm not sure it will show up. I don't recall seeing anything the first filter change and this is the second. Is this normal?

View 1 RepliesAfter my recent cooling system upgrade and power steering pump/HP hose replacement I am still hearing and feeling the power steering whine. I flushed the fluid and used Mercon V ATF fluid. I jacked the front end up with tires off the ground and cycled the steering lock to lock 100 times or more now and the whine does not stop. Do I need to put a vacuum on the system and try to purge it that way? There was no whine before but I just replaced the pump while I had room with everything out of the way and replaced the high pressure line because the fitting was leaking at the pump. This is very irritating because I thought replacing the pump would be beneficial.

OK what is the trick to changing the oil filter on the 6.7 without making a mess. My last truck, which was another brand, if I would let the truck sit for a couple of hours, I could get the filter loose, put a zip lock bag around the filter, & remove the filter without any drips. With the 6.7, even if I let the truck sit overnite, it seems like the oil doesn't drain from above the filter, & as soon as it comes loose my hand gets a bath. Any tricks to changing the oil filter.
View 14 RepliesI have 07 F350 6.0 never heard this out of any of my 6.0s. it's almost a whine but can hear it w turbo and out of empty exhaust. Almost like a supercharger noise stumped almost leaning towards actuator for turbo? Noise got real loud swapped turbos used same actuator noise is there but much quieter.
View 1 RepliesI recently bought a 2005 F250 4x4 automatic trans with 177,000 miles. In the last 300 or so miles it has developed a whine from under the truck like gears not meshing. It is constant and only the speed of the truck seems to affect the volume of it. It is loudest, considerable louder, on deceleration. Different gears have no effect, 4x4 high or low has no effect, even slipping it into neutral while its rolling has no effect. I have seen various websites about bad wheel bearings, transfer cases, and rear end gears causing this type of noise. There is no vibrations, slipping, shuttering, at anything else unusual. Except for noise it drives ad rides completely normal.

Same symptoms: whining sound, low fuel pressure warning, reduced power warning.
This time I'm 50 miles from home so I pulled off the road before it shut off. Interesting, I was in a hilly area and my low fuel warning came on too. We are waiting for a tow. I was considering trying to push on but don't want to get stuck in a dangerous spot on the highway. We're in a church parking lot.
So, last time this happened I was on flat road with about a half tank of fuel on a lunch break. I ran a mile after the warnings came on to feel out the issue and to see what would happen. I happened to be only about a mile away from my dealer so I drove that way. I got reduced power warning and then it cut power on me (limp mode). I made it to about 100 yards away before it cut off.
This time, I was in a hilly area at night on a windy two lane road with no shoulders in the woods. I was miles from civilization and was showing below a quarter tank of fuel. ~100 miles to EMPTY. I got the low fuel pressure warning first and then the reduced power mode before the whining noise started. I was climbing a hill on a curve at the time. I drove a quarter mile and then pulled off the road into a parking lot so I wouldn't be stuck on the shoulder. It didn't actually go into limp mode.
I let it sit a few minutes, talked it over with the wife and decided to call for a tow. After talking to the tow truck driver who said he would be an hour because he had to go find a bigger truck, I decided to see what I could do while I wait. I fired it back up and the fuel level dropped to below 1/8 and I was now showing 33 miles to EMPTY. I was parked on a hill with the back end up. I had backed the truck into a space to make it easier for the tow truck driver. I let it run a minute, checked for leaks and it seemed to run fine with no studdering or additional warning lights.
CEL was on but no new warnings. I put in my code reader and pulled the P0087. Just one code. I revved it a bit to see if there were any issues. It seemed fine so I decided to try my luck. I started driving towards home with the intention to stop at the first diesel station to fill up. Truck ran fine. After two minutes of driving gently, heart racing, my fuel level came back up and it now read 88 miles to EMPTY. I drove 11 miles to the nearest station and filled up. No issues. I shut it down. I fired it back up. Still no issues so with a full tank, I drove home the remaining 30 miles without issue.
Planning to take it in to the dealer Monday to get it checked. Could this be from an air pocked due to low fuel level and hilly terrain? Is my new pump dying already? Is there something else going on inside the tank or elsewhere?
