New 2015 KR. Has 2191 miles on it so far, 69 engine hours and 21 idle hours.
Truck is telling me exhaust fluid is under half full. I thought a full tank of it was supposed to last around 7k miles???
fuel gauge does what it wants? It goes down to half way then goes back to full or sometimes even empty. Not a big deal for me because I have gotten used to it. But I would hate to have my wife in here and she thinks it's good and run out.
View 14 RepliesMy fuel gauge acted pretty weird today. When I left my house today it was just above half a tank. I was sitting in traffic quite a bit and then looked down and it was below the e. I knew it wasn't empty so I kept going. Got to work. Went for lunch and it said full drove about 5 mins to eat and it went down to half a tank. What's going on? I am thinking of the fuel sender or wiring?
View 3 RepliesI've topped up the DEF and the warning is still showing that I'll have reduced engine power within 45kms.
Its weird, just yesterday it showed 550kms to empty so I added one full container, all day it kept showing less and less kms' til empty. Warning lights and bells etc.
This evening topped it completely and still shows. Is there a way to reset it without having to stop at the service dept.
I got the low DEF fluid message today. 800km to empty (500 miles). I checked early in the day and message said DEF fluid level was O.K. I never got the message exhaust fluid 1/2 full. I had a jug at home so when I arrived home I filled the tank. I had a 2.5 gallon jug. I assumed it would take the entire jug. It would only take 2/3. It would appear I have a false low DEF message. This happened shortly after purchasing the truck but then it seemed to correct itself until now. I now have 40,000 km's (25,000 miles) on the truck.
View 14 RepliesI'm new to the 6.7 so I'm still learning as much as I can. I recently added the exhaust filter screen to the display using forscan. I had a regen yesterday. I drove the truck until the exhaust filter displayed 0% full. I've driven about 130 miles today and noticed the exhaust filter is now 50% full. That seems really quick to fill halfway up in so few miles. Is this normal? If not what would cause it? I'm really entertaining the idea of deleting the rocket ship under the truck.
View 13 RepliesMy check engine light just came on and a few miles later the "exhaust fluid system fault" also came on. I plugged in my scanner and these codes came up:
P2479 b1s2
P2033 b1s2
P050E
P0231 b1s2
I'm assuming these mean bank one sensor 2 is bad. Need to verify? I don't remember all these codes when the #4 sensor went bad.
Just wondering what this could be.its giving me the 50 miles to 50mph max speed. Def tank is half full.truck runs fine.
View 2 RepliesNew to Diesel trucks, have a 2012 F250 with 4000 miles on it. for the first 3000 miles I would see regular messages about "Cleaning Exhaust Filter" about every 100 miles or so, but this last 1000 miles I have not seen any?? I drive about 100 + miles a day, 55 to 65 mph so I'm sure I'm running it long enough.
The other thing I've noticed is that my MPG has gone from 17 down to 14 which is what I would normally see during a cleaning cycle. It almost seems like I'm in a constant state of cleaning as my MPG has taken a dive... Any things I should check?
Side note, I towed a 30ft RV around the 3000 mile mark, since the tow I haven't seen the message.
Set out for a 450 mile trip this morning. Checked all fluids, then checked the Edge CTS for any DTC's since it had been several weeks since I had driven the truck more than 100 miles per day. No codes except for a couple of P0000's.
Good to go.
45 miles into the trip while traveling at 75 MPH the chime sounds and the message center says "Diesel exhaust fluid fault. Speed will be reduced to 50 MPH in 50 miles." CEL on too. Using the CTS, I checked the codes:
P20EE - SCR NOx Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
P2080 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1 Sensor 1
They were in the order shown. So the EGT fault came first, followed by the NOx fault.
I really need this truck today. Cleared the codes, but of course that didn't work with the 50 MPH limiting. Went back home and got the Jeep. The truck is about 1 mile away from the 50 MPH speed limiting.
It would seem that the EGT problem could lead to a NOx issue, but I could be wrong. I monitor EGT1 with the CTS, but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Also I thought an EGT fault usually gives the "Stop safely now" fault.
I did take a picture of the CTS DTC display before clearing the codes. Hope that will work for the dealer.
I have a 2011 f-450 6.7 - truck has 70K miles. The other day I was driving and the message said "Cleaning exhaust filter ". I usually keep it running a little to finish. Then shorty after a warning message came on which said "800 Miles to Exhaust fluid empty". So I went to fill tank and it was FULL. Now the warning keeps showing up each time I start the engine. It now says 300 miles to empty. I'm afraid it's going to go into limp mode even though the exhaust fluid tank is full.
View 14 Replies2014 F250 Diesel... I got the msg saying 50 miles until speed limited to 50 mph. None of the earlier warnings re adding def. check def on computer and it said it was ok. I even added def and it only took a small amount until it overflowed. It was more than 1/2 full. The error message did not reset. I drove it around for several miles and it still would not reset. Having it services as we speak, and the tech is still having difficulty running down the cause. He has done a regen,and reset the computer and etc and still has not resolved the issue..
View 14 RepliesI bought my 2015 F250 last November, and this spring my check engine light comes on with the message exhaust system fluid fault with the anoyying speed limitation. Bring the truck back to the dealer and they just say add def fluid, so I just have them do it. 2 weeks later the message comes back, bring it back to the dealer and they tell me it "needs reprograming" they do the work, light goes off. two weeks later light comes on again. Dealer puts in new exhaust sensors and reprograms the truck.
This fix lasts a few months in the mean time the truck shutters really bad under regeneration mode. Talk to dealer they claim its normal. Finally this week the light comes back on again. Bring the truck to the dealer and Ford keeps telling them that it only needs reprograming but that doesn't fix the problem. The dealer wants to replace the computer but ford isn't letting them do it (the truck is still under warranty) . I am starting to get pretty mad when I went out and bout a 65k truck not to have these problems.
My 2012 F350 Lariat has 6100 miles on it now and on the way home tonight I got a "speed limited to 50 mph in 50 miles" message on the display. It states that there is a "diesel exhaust fluid system fault". The def was topped off about 2000 miles ago and the message center says that the fluid level is "ok". I am going to be on the phone with the dealer first thing in the morning. This is my personal/work truck and if I can't tow a trailer then I can't work. My guess would be a faulty sensor. I have no doubts that the dealer will get this resolved quickly as they have been great about everything else. I also want to say that other than this, I am sure minor issue, this truck is awesome!
View 14 RepliesI've been having a very erratic fuel gauge issue as of about 2 months ago. My fuel level would register full, when in fact I knew it only had 1/2 a tank or so. Then 5 minutes later it would be pegged on full. Under a 1/2 tank the gauge would read any where from 1/2 to empty from 1 minute to the next. So last week I decided to drop my tank and take a look. I was thinking maybe my fuel sender was broken, maybe a loose wire in the tank, or even that my float had dropped off in to the tank.
After dropping the tank, I removed the PK-Up and sending unit and everything was intact. I placed my ohm meter on the sending unit and it checked out fine. So I took the Pk-up and rolled back up underneath the truck and plugged it back in. I had my son turn the key on and off while I moved the float to different levels in order that it would register. It registered empty, 1/4/, 1/2, 3/4 and full just fine as I moved the float to those levels. If you leave the key in the run position and move the float, it won't register or better said, the in cab gauge will not adjust with the movement.
You have to turn the key off move the float and hold it there, then have your assistant turn the key on and the gauge will show the position that you've moved and held it at. I simply removed the plastic cover from the sending unit, and sprayed it down real good with electrical contact cleaner. I didn't scrub the copper contact area at all.
I was concerned that scrubbing might remove more than I wanted to, and really mess things up. I attached an Ohm meter and checked resistance thru out the float travel. All checked out good and I reinstalled it. So now my fuel gauge is working as it should be. I did make a video while I ohmed the Sender Unit thru it's travel, but for some reason it won't load.

This morning, when checking the oil in my car, I noticed the brake fluid was about half way full.
Before doing the 5k mile service, I had noticed it wasn't full. I told the dealer to make sure they top it off, and they did. Now at 12k the reservoir is half way again. Rarely brake fluid should go down.
Yesterday it was running fine today only half throttle, going up a hill no power throttle push 12 down let off the throttle engine smooths out and starts picking up speed ....

My truck gave me the message that "DEF under 1/2 full", so since we are on the road, I stopped by a dealer and picked up 5 gallons of motorcraft DEF. I did not want to get the countdown message in an unfamiliar area and have to look for it. While going out site-seeing, I forgot and left it in the back seat of the truck for about 8 hours in the heat of the day. I know you are supposed to store it under 86 degrees or so. Now, did I just ruin 5 unopened gallons or is it still safe to use?

View 5 RepliesI have a lariat (auto climate control) and I just finished reassembling the engine and I noticed that the AC blower goes on full whenever you turn the key on.
According to the AC panel it seems to be off. Where should I start looking? AC is very important here... its already regularly over 100 degrees here.
I have a 04 6.0 and lost with it. I parked it the other night and in the morning I went to start it and it acts like it's only running on half the cylinders. I haven't had any issues till now so I replaced fuel filters and air cleaner is fresh but no change. It is not throwing a check engine light it isn't smoking excessively. I don't know where to check next.
