I've topped up the DEF and the warning is still showing that I'll have reduced engine power within 45kms.
Its weird, just yesterday it showed 550kms to empty so I added one full container, all day it kept showing less and less kms' til empty. Warning lights and bells etc.
This evening topped it completely and still shows. Is there a way to reset it without having to stop at the service dept.
My check engine light just came on and a few miles later the "exhaust fluid system fault" also came on. I plugged in my scanner and these codes came up:
P2479 b1s2
P2033 b1s2
P050E
P0231 b1s2
I'm assuming these mean bank one sensor 2 is bad. Need to verify? I don't remember all these codes when the #4 sensor went bad.
Just wondering what this could be.its giving me the 50 miles to 50mph max speed. Def tank is half full.truck runs fine.
View 2 RepliesSet out for a 450 mile trip this morning. Checked all fluids, then checked the Edge CTS for any DTC's since it had been several weeks since I had driven the truck more than 100 miles per day. No codes except for a couple of P0000's.
Good to go.
45 miles into the trip while traveling at 75 MPH the chime sounds and the message center says "Diesel exhaust fluid fault. Speed will be reduced to 50 MPH in 50 miles." CEL on too. Using the CTS, I checked the codes:
P20EE - SCR NOx Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
P2080 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1 Sensor 1
They were in the order shown. So the EGT fault came first, followed by the NOx fault.
I really need this truck today. Cleared the codes, but of course that didn't work with the 50 MPH limiting. Went back home and got the Jeep. The truck is about 1 mile away from the 50 MPH speed limiting.
It would seem that the EGT problem could lead to a NOx issue, but I could be wrong. I monitor EGT1 with the CTS, but I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Also I thought an EGT fault usually gives the "Stop safely now" fault.
I did take a picture of the CTS DTC display before clearing the codes. Hope that will work for the dealer.
I have a 2011 f-450 6.7 - truck has 70K miles. The other day I was driving and the message said "Cleaning exhaust filter ". I usually keep it running a little to finish. Then shorty after a warning message came on which said "800 Miles to Exhaust fluid empty". So I went to fill tank and it was FULL. Now the warning keeps showing up each time I start the engine. It now says 300 miles to empty. I'm afraid it's going to go into limp mode even though the exhaust fluid tank is full.
View 14 Replies2014 F250 Diesel... I got the msg saying 50 miles until speed limited to 50 mph. None of the earlier warnings re adding def. check def on computer and it said it was ok. I even added def and it only took a small amount until it overflowed. It was more than 1/2 full. The error message did not reset. I drove it around for several miles and it still would not reset. Having it services as we speak, and the tech is still having difficulty running down the cause. He has done a regen,and reset the computer and etc and still has not resolved the issue..
View 14 RepliesI bought my 2015 F250 last November, and this spring my check engine light comes on with the message exhaust system fluid fault with the anoyying speed limitation. Bring the truck back to the dealer and they just say add def fluid, so I just have them do it. 2 weeks later the message comes back, bring it back to the dealer and they tell me it "needs reprograming" they do the work, light goes off. two weeks later light comes on again. Dealer puts in new exhaust sensors and reprograms the truck.
This fix lasts a few months in the mean time the truck shutters really bad under regeneration mode. Talk to dealer they claim its normal. Finally this week the light comes back on again. Bring the truck to the dealer and Ford keeps telling them that it only needs reprograming but that doesn't fix the problem. The dealer wants to replace the computer but ford isn't letting them do it (the truck is still under warranty) . I am starting to get pretty mad when I went out and bout a 65k truck not to have these problems.
New 2015 KR. Has 2191 miles on it so far, 69 engine hours and 21 idle hours.
Truck is telling me exhaust fluid is under half full. I thought a full tank of it was supposed to last around 7k miles???
My 2012 F350 Lariat has 6100 miles on it now and on the way home tonight I got a "speed limited to 50 mph in 50 miles" message on the display. It states that there is a "diesel exhaust fluid system fault". The def was topped off about 2000 miles ago and the message center says that the fluid level is "ok". I am going to be on the phone with the dealer first thing in the morning. This is my personal/work truck and if I can't tow a trailer then I can't work. My guess would be a faulty sensor. I have no doubts that the dealer will get this resolved quickly as they have been great about everything else. I also want to say that other than this, I am sure minor issue, this truck is awesome!

And forgot to unplug my heater core plug. I know, I know, Just forgot about it when I was in a hurry. I just don't wanna pay the Ford house to reset it.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2003 F250 4X4 PSD. How do I reset the "Average MPG" calculator? I asked because I have doubts that it is functioning properly.
Example:
Zero load, high-way driving.... the display shows 14.4mpg.
Zero load, in-town driving... the display shows 14.mpg.
1,000 lbs in the truck, pulling 4,000 lbs on the high-way for 600 miles (each way)..... the display shows 14.2mpg.
And since I've returned from the trip mentioned above with the 5K of load, it has not changed from displaying 14.2mpg.... even though I am back to high-way driving with zero load... been through 6 -8 tanks of fuel.
My expectation is that when I am traveling without a load on the high-way that it should get the best MPG. Subsequently, when I am pulling a load, utilizing the "Tow" function (without engaging O/D), that it would get worse MPG. However, it appears there is virtually no difference registered / displayed in MPG regardless of how I drive or what I tow.
How do I reset the "Check Coolant Additive" message. Pressing OK turns it off until I restart the engine.

View 5 RepliesI have an exhaust smell in the cab of the truck. It is pretty strong. Seems worse when it is really cold outside and goes away when outside temps warm up. I checked the tube (passenger side behind engine) and did not see any soot.

How can I tell if it was doing a regen? I have an Edge Insight. Is the a parameter I can display to know the regen was active?
View 14 RepliesSo, had a transmission fluid leak. Couldn't find the leak so I went to a transmission shop. The diagnosis is that a snap ring broke and resulted in a hole in my tranny, something about reverse gear pressures weakly designed snap ring.
Not too happy about this, being that I had thought that the transmission was the strong point of my truck... Is this common?
I was spraying undercoating yesterday and noticed a trans leak, it looks like its coming from the top of the trans. Not a lot of fluid just enough to coat the trans on top. I tried using an inspection mirror but i still cant see the leak.

View 5 Repliesyesterday I went out started my truck and white smoke started coming out my exhaust so I turned it off waited a bit started it back up let it run for a bit smoke went away drove it about 60 miles. Later that night it did the same thing but I was 2 gallons short on coolant drove it another 60 miles ran fine. Next morning decided to take it to a shop put more coolant in it drove maybe 20 miles to shop got there turned it off everything was fine never over heated once. So this shop is now telling me my trucks hydro locked and I steamed the EGR valve. And there telling me it's gonna be $8000 to fix it .
View 3 RepliesLast winter I pulled something and getting out has been difficult. Climbing in my F 350 even tougher so it hasn't been used much. Now that I'm driving a bit I have not seen it regen. Truck stop regenning, is it possible? What happens if it just stops? It use to regen every 200 miles or so and I have been paying attention.
View 7 RepliesI'm at 76K miles and I had another exhaust sensor go bad. This time the check engine light came on and the truck did not shut down. I was prepared this time and had an extra sensor / code reader handy.
It was the last sensor in line and very easy to get to. It took me less than five minutes to complete the job. I did use anti seize, but as easy as it came out it probably wasn't necessary.
