What would be causing this clicking sound coming from my front passenger wheel? Wheel bearing? It ONLY clicks when turning left.

I have a clicking sound coming from the front right wheel, happens while driving straight or turning. My guy checked the cv boots, axle bolt, various other connections that seem fine. Then he takes a phrase out of Satan's handbook and says "take it to the dealer". I saw the horns on his head and the red eyes while he was saying it. So I made apt for next week. I don't think it's anything serious , Orr maybe it's something to do with the rotor, caliper, break pads ? Everything else seems tight.

View 14 RepliesA while back I posted a thread trying to fix a clicking noise coming from the front end on my F-350 dually when applying the brakes at slow speeds (under 15 mph).
While returning from our camping trip last week the noise is back again. It does not occur after the truck sits overnight or for a few hours. But after driving for 30 minutes or longer the clicking will return when I apply the brakes at slow speeds. I tested the rotor temps with a heat gun and it seems to start when the rotor temps get above 120 degrees F. So I removed the brake pads & calipers, regreased the slide pins, cleaned up the pads and applied some lubricant on the back of the pads. I also bent the pad clips so they would fit snugger/tighter in the slots.
Whatever I did seemed to cure the clicking while driving around this weekend. I made sure I got the front brakes nice and warm - up to 180 degrees or so.
When I did this same procedure a few months ago the clicking went away - but eventually returned.
Should I get some better clips? Replace the sliding pins? Pads? The rotors & pads were replaced this winter & the shop said they and the labor are still under warranty. But if they use the same clips - I'm concerned I'll be back to square one in a month or so.
So my '01 E350 has been fine but tonight when I went to start it I didn't get a WTS light and the SES light was on and there was a weird number on my PHP Hydra that looked like r5 ? This happened a few times back to back so I tried starting it and it just cranked and cranked. Wtf? So I started pushing the button on the chip and all of the sudden I got the WTS light and the hydra flashed, now the chip was on tune 10 instead of 5 where it was when I parked it. I should also note that during these episodes there was a fairly loud clicking/clunking sound coming from the drivers front under the hood when I toggle the key on.. Sounds like maybe a relay? Louder than I recall ever hearing.

But today I had my wife drive the car and take some slow left turns while I listened so I could get a better idea about what the sound was and where it was coming from. From inside the garage and in the car, it sounded like it was coming from the rear but I now know it's coming from the front passenger wheel and it is not a "grinding" sound at all, it's more of a tick-tick-tick/click-click-click sound.
Applying brakes doesn't change the frequency or quality of the sound, but speed does. The faster the wheel turns, the frequencly of the ticking increases. It doesn't appear to tick/click only once per revolution, it clicks a number of times throughout the rotation and at some points during the rotation it clicks more often than others. Like, tick.... tick... tickticktick...tick...
When going straight there is no noise, turning right, it sometimes might click once or something but it doesn't really happen turning the other way. I've looked at the dust shield around and even tried bending it back a little bit in case it was making contact when I thought it was more of a grind but nothing looks out of place and nothing has been done to the wheel recently other than putting new rims on a couple of months ago.
Wheel bearing? I thought a bad wheel bearing would make noise no matter what direction you're going and pretty much constantly. CV? I thought CV ticking usually only happens at full lock but it ticks even on not so severe turning. Fender liner doesn't appear to be touching the tire, and the car isn't dropped and is AWD so there's plenty of clearance.
So, is this a trip to the dealer? I'm only under powertrain... not sure if something is up if it would be covered. I think wheel bearings are, but not sure about other suspension parts that might cause this.
So I went to the car wash this morning and when I pulled into the stall I heard a somewhat loud rattle coming from my front drivers side wheel. It sounded like there were a couple stones in the cap that covers the lug nuts. That wasn't the case. It did it in reverse also. Before I take it to the dealer Monday morning. Its a 2011 F-350 6.7 Lariat 4x4 w. 32,000 miles. I also have have a little whine coming from the rear when I take off from a standstill.
View 4 RepliesStarted about a month ago with a very infrequent squeaking coming from area of front left wheel. Has started getting more and more frequent to the point of being constant for about 10 minutes today, then just went away for the remaining 15 miles home. Front left hub was definitely warmer than the other one but not too hot to touch or anything. Start of a bearing issue or something to do with the auto locking hubs for the 4wd???
View 14 RepliesFixing issues with my truck. I just ordered some latex surgical tubing and am getting ready to fix the rattling noise in my rear door by using the Epic's Door Seal Mod. Hopefully this will take care of that issue.
One more annoying noise though. Has there been any fixes to the buzzing window noise that is coming from the front passenger side. If the wind is blowing right and I'm running over 50mph, at times get a loud buzzing noise and really bugs me. Something is vibrating and at first i thought i had a speaker going out but found out that wasn't it.
I've called my dealer and informed them of this and asked if they've heard of this but of course they haven't and this usually means the won't do anything besides look for recalls or something. I have the noise recorded and scheduled an appointment with my Ford Dealer but again, they won't do anything most likely.
Noticed a clicking noise when only turning left out of a parking lot today? What this could be? Sounds like it was coming from the driver side front wheel?

There is one thing that annoys me and it's a clicking sound coming from the rear passenger side wheel when going over bumps (I hear it a low speeds as tire noise take over after I guess). I was wondering if I should be looking for different signs when I jack it up? Worn bushings? And is there a way to reproduce the sound. I've read about the rear bushing being a problem on these cars... is it true?
View 5 RepliesI have 1999 F350 7.3 Crew Cab 4WD. I took it on a 4 hours trip towing a trailer to haul a small tractor on it. after 3 hours of driving, I started hearing grinding and metal chewing sound coming from the front axle or close the wheel hubs. It was awful, terrible, ... you name it!!! I had to continue or I will lose the tractor I paid for already. The sound was coming for 1-2 seconds each 500 feet or so. It never stopped or changed. I pulled over to see what's going on and found the following:
1. Left shock is leaking badly
2. Right locking hub is gone (not sure if the truck had one before). I bought this truck last year, but I never had to use 4x4 and I know the 4x4 motor by the transfer case is missing and the nipple on the transfer case is set to the 2wd position so the front drive-shaft does not turn.
I took the front shock off and continued to drive without it, the noise did not go away.
I pulled over again and this time I noticed that the dust cover on each end of the front axle is missing too. I have never worked on these axles before, but I jacked one side, and sure enough, gear oil was leaking from the other side. I took the plug off the front differential and stuck my finger in it. I felt a creamy brown-greenish stuff in the differential. The consistency is like mayonnaise or thin peanut butter. I put the plug back on and went to pick up the tractor because I did not want to miss it fooling around with the truck on the highway.
The truck made it there and back (almost 5 hours total after the break down). The sound never stopped every 500 to 1000 ft.
After getting home safely, I took the other locking hub off, and took it for a test drive. I did not hear the noise, but now my right brakes are locking.
I took of the wheels and saw that the retaining snap ring (C clip) for the front axle on the right side came off by hand. I took the washers behind it off. Took the calipers and brackets off. I have never done front axle rebuild. I am not sure what has been damaged and what's still good.
Right of the bat, I know, at least, I need 2 shocks, one brake caliper and pads.
My questions are:
1. Is it possible to take the front axles off on both sides and make it 2wd for now until I have the money to rebuild the axle?
2. Could I use the same hubs? or they are most likely damaged and how to tell?
3. How to tell if the differential is damaged/needs rebuilding?
4. How to tell if the axles/spindles are damaged?
5. Is there a step by step tutorial to rebuild the axle with all seals, bearings, ...etc? How hard is the job for a hobbyist? I do most of my repairs myself, and I was lucky at 36 years old, I never had to rebuild a differential.
6. What else I might have damaged in the process of driving it that long with the noise? How do I tell if I did?
There is a clicking sound coming from the front passenger side of my dash. I have narrowed it down to being a problem with the Air Outlet Servo Sub Assembly. How should I go about correcting this dilemma? If I choose the option to waste another perfectly good weekend on taking apart my only means of transportation (except for my bicycle), how should I go about doing this to avoid creating anymore havic on what seems to be a perfectly good car?

I bought my 6.0L Diesel about a month ago. Recently when I turn to the left it makes a weird popping sound and gets the "death wobble" If I turn it sharply to the left it will then stop. Last night it got terribly worse and it wobbled at any speed no matter what. I put it up on jack stands and turned the wheel with both tires off the ground, and the sound still happens. I am only by myself and I tried to figure out what is wrong with recording on my phone to see if a ball joint was freezing up but couldn't see. Is there anywhere I should focus on more or less with the camera to see what the issue could be?

The noise it makes sounds almost like a tire rubbing a splash guard or something. It comes from the drivers side. It he truck is stock with stock tires and wheels and has 4300 mi on it. I've been hearing a clicking sound when I hit the brakes. Not a thump or a growl, just a metallic click. I'm wondering if it's the pads or that retaining clip or possibly the ball joints. New brakes & rotors this past fall. I just started hearing it now that I can drive with the windows down. Can't hear or feel anything with the windows up.
So I figured I would crawl under her today and grease up the ball joints, Pittman arm and whatever other grease fittings I see. Well, I don't see any? I have a few on my 7.3L's but I don't see any on the front end of my 6.0L.
4000 miles on my CW Golf R - zero problems until this morning. WILD, Loud sqealing, screeching metal on metal or maybe stone on metal sound coming from front passenger wheel. at first i was positive it was a pebble caught b/t the inside rotor and heat shield - i took the tire off and nothing there.. Also only really does it when I turn RIGHT.
View 13 RepliesI have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Sport with a six-speed manual trans and an in-line 4.0 6-cyl engine. I discovered a month or so ago a strange rattling sound coming from, what sounded like, the front passenger wheel area. It would occur when I slowed down to 10mph or slower or when coming to a complete stop, or when starting out from a stop, until surpassing the 10-12mph mark. The rattle is audible both inside and outside the vehicle. It's a low-pitched sound like an "aaaaaahhhh" you make when opening wide for the doctor to look down your throat, only with a metallic rattle thrown in. Best way I know to describe it is a voice saying "aaaaahhhhh" through the back of a fan.
I recently discovered, when I took it in for an oil change and tire rotation, that my front tires were wearing much faster than the backs and had a very noticeable "choppiness" to the tread. I have since installed new shock absorbers on both sides of the front suspension in hopes that would even the ride out for the front and eliminate the choppy tire wear. I originally thought that the tire wear and the rattle were related, but I took it to a mechanic who raised the front end and hand-spun both front tires and they made no audible sounds while spinning.
The mechanic said he believes that the rattle is coming from the front differential. Now, I am no pro mechanic, but I am not afraid to tackle a car repair job as long as I know I have the tools I need at hand to properly complete the job. First of all, does the differential sound like a good place to look? There's no change in the rattle when applying or releasing the clutch and it shifts smoothly, so I am pretty certain it's not in the transmission. Is the differential something that I could remove the cover and adequately diagnose a problem on my own? Just don't have funds available for a large car repair bill, so I am looking at trying to tackle the issue myself.
My folding mirror on the drivers side folds out good but when bringing it back there is a clicking sound and it doesn't move, a slight pull on it and it comes back ok. 2011 F350 SD.
