Ok. I have a 2015 6.7 power stroke and my fuel return line clip keeps falling off. And goes into limp mode. It has happen twice and in come up with code p0088. And I push it back on start the truck and it is fine. But idk why it is doing it
View 1 RepliesNew to me early 99 (4/98) f350 7.3 6 speed. Truck started acting up a few days after I bought it. Return line at fuel bowl was leaking, so started there and found a bad seal on the Fpr (unrelated to the fuel leak due to disentegrated compression sleeve). Fast forward through a bunch of parts swapping that still resulted in miserable lift pump pressure readings, I pull the sending unit out of the tank, expecting to find a plugged screen.
Well, there was in fact a plugged screen... Attached to the bottom of an in-tank pump. How did that get there?!? Everything I've read says there should only be a pickup tube??? Should I get a new sending unit from a junkyard and do the hutch mod or???
I am rebuilding the oil cooler and noticed since its removed I have great access to this fuel line pair from fuel bowl to soft lines below. How these disconnect at the soft lines? I happen to have a new set waiting to be installed. Is there a tool required ?

View 4 RepliesMy HPOP was leaking so I pulled it our last weekend along with the fuel bowl and put all new seals in. All my previous leaks are sealed but now this stupid fuel bowl is being a major PIA.
The return line coming off the FPR will not stop leaking! It was slowly dripping when I first replaced the bowl and I thought the leak was between the fuel bowl and FPR housing. I ordered new rings and put it back together.... still leaking.
I wrapped a towel around the fuel fitting and realized that is were the leak is actually coming from. I went to the parker store today and got 3 new 60VL5 sleeves. The first one tore while sling over the fuel line (I was using 2cycle oil as lubricate). The second one leaked even worse.
In a desperate attempt to stop the leak, I slid the sleeve onto the fuel line as far back as it would go. I inserted the fuel line into the bowl and then put a thin coat of rtv on the exposed fuel line. I slid the sleeve over the rtv and then put a light coat of the outside of the sleeve. I tightened the nut up and am waiting for things to dry before trying again.
Why is this fitting giving me such a hard time? I've pulled the FPR housing and it is not cracked so I don't know what the deal is.
Couple of years ago I installed a fuel pressure gauge. I wrapped the fittings with teflon tape. Well within about a year it started leaking. So I shopped around and used Permatex Permashield fuel resistant sealant on the fittings. It says diesel resistant on the package. Couple months later leaking again. So I take it apart again, clean every fitting and follow the instructions to the letter. Well its leaking again. What will resist diesel fuel under 55 psi pressure. All the fittings seem to be pipe thread.
View 7 RepliesWent to go and start my truck this morning and noticed after it was running that it sounded like a misfire, then i seen the smoke... I shut the truck down and lifted the hood and seen that somehow i had a high pressure fuel injector supply line on the Lh side break off. The line that goes from the fuel rail to the injector port on the valve cover (theres 4 of them on a side). There doesn't seem to be an o-ring or anything on them, they are just pressed over and tighten down.
View 6 RepliesI have 2006 ford f250 6.0 diesel. I was changing the fuel filter on the frame rail and noticed a lot of dirt in the housing . I tried to remove the plug to drain water to see if i could get out some of the dirt. But the bolt just turned and wouldn't come out. It wouldn't tighten either. I went ahead and cleaned as much dirt as i could and changed the filter. How to get the bolt out....... I just bought the truck so i don't have any prior maintenance history...

View 1 RepliesI had to drop my fuel tank and as a result, I replaced the fuel lines from the underbed filter to the tank. After replacing everything, I purged, purged, and purged some more. With much difficulty I was able to get the truck running and it ran good. But, I have trouble restarting the truck anytime I let it sit for a couple of hours. It cranks and cranks and eventually fires, but with much difficulty.

How do I repair? I think the o-rings in the quick connect went bad. I'm thinking to dip the connector in hot water to soften up the nylon, take the old connector off, and put a new connector on. What size connector I need?
1st diesel was a 1997 F350 dually (White Lightning). Upgraded last year to a 2015 F350 (The Rocket Sled)- the kids named it hahaha. Had to take the 6.7 (9200 miles) into the shop... Last Sunday I took the truck out and about 5 minutes from home I got the low fuel pressure warning. Pulled over and tried to purge air out of fuel system- the low pressure pump was making a terrible racket. Turned around and limped home- reduced power came on soon after. Parked it until I could get to the dealership on Tues. Long story short- dropped it off at the dealer (low pressure pump still making noise/ no low fuel waning, just CEL light).
Called to check status today- dealer can't seem to duplicate problem. Service advisor said if mechanic can't find anything wrong, service manager was going to take it out and try to duplicate. The is the 2nd time I've got the low fuel pressure warming. The first time (around 4000mi. ) was in winter- I changed out fuel filters and it went away. I was towing the 5th wheel. Just had to vent-I have to get this figured out. I wouldn't thing the filter could get clogged within 5k miles. Have a camping trip scheduled next week!!
2005 PSD 6.0L Excursion ... I suspect that have a fuel leak at the fuel line fittings near the driver side cylinder head. (I believe that it is fuel, since it is so clear, I guess I should collect a few drops and see if it burns vs. coolant.)
It appears to be at the junction of the fuel lines. This is the point where the fluid drops off the tubing and falls down. The clip that holds the two tubes together at the joint is very dirty, the one below them is clean. The tag on the line that is at the joint leaking is part number 3c34-9j338-ag. Is there a o-ring in side the joint? Do I need to replace both hoses of the joint? I can't find any posting of a history of this fuel line leaking.
Or... is it that the joint never fail, and the leak is up tube? I can't see any where it is coming out when viewing it from the top.
I know it's posted a few places but I have a reoccurring problem. Whenever my truck goes below 100 miles of remaining range the low pressure light comes on. Within 10 miles the reduced engine power comes on.
First time at 11k miles, at the dealership for 4 days, test fuel filter for crystallization, tested the diesel fuel, checked for leaks and then reset the codes and gave it back to me. Said it only popped the code for low bank 1 pressure.
Now 12,800 miles, driving home from work. 87 miles remain on range, pulled in a gas station and the low pressure light comes on. Threw 25 gallons in it and made it about 15 miles. Currently sitting in a Walgreens parking lot waiting for a tow truck with the low engine power light on. They will only tow it halfway to my house to a dealership since I am out of road side assistance range.
Circumstances right now, its 65 outside so it's not gelling like many other people. I can here the pump running and it spooled up real high when I tried to restart it but did not fire. Grabbed the code reader and it had 8 general codes all for low fuel bar pressure.
Pretty happy that I dropped almost 60k on a truck that hasn't even made it a year yet and not even 13k miles on it
I have a 1989 Ford mustang 4 cylinder. The return line tofuel tank is leaking. I am wondering if I need to treat the return line as a "high Pressure line" or if I can repair with regular rubber fuel line and hose clamps.
View 4 RepliesWorking on a 2015 f-550 with a 6.7 power stroke. Damaged the wiring harness and fuel gauge not working now. Where could I find a wiring diagram? The low fuel is now causing it to not regen. We have continuity through the wires and they have been repaired but gauge still does not work. Currently now power to fuel gauge sender?
View 1 RepliesI changed both fuel filters on my 2015 F350 6.7 I turn the key online for 30 seconds then turned it off for total of 6 times when to start the truck this morning after driving it yesterday and it took a little bit longer to turn over before it finally did, did I miss something up that I do something wrong. So I let my truck warm up this morning after going to start it at took a little bit longer for it to turn over I turned it off wait a few seconds then turned it back on and she started up how she used to perfectly fine does it just need to go through a drive cycle. This is the second fuel filter replacement nothing was wrong with the other ones I'm at 40000 miles now ... also it seems like the fuel filter on the frame rail is louder if you put the filter in upside down on that will it fit stupid question I'm sure I did it right but thought I'd ask before I tear it apart....

View 2 RepliesI recently bought a used 2015 F250. When the fuel level reached 1/4 tank it became hard to start. Sometimes up to 6 seconds of cranking to get it to start. I filled it up with fresh diesel and it fired up as soon as I turned the key. A week later the problem returned, this time I was above 1/2 tank. I run the recommended additives, I changed both fuel filters, but it didn't work. I have only had the truck 3 weeks, and it still has a warranty. There are no fault codes, and the truck run great once started. What could be wrong.
View 7 RepliesI'm excited to be a Powerstroke owner again! I had a 2000 with the 7.3L and since bought and now sold a Chevy 1500. Last week I bought a new 2015 6.7L. I am MORE than impressed and love the truck. Today I brought it to get the windows tinted. I have not had one issue with the truck since I have had it. When they finished with the windows, my check engine light was on. The shop I had it done it EXTREMELY reputable. They brought out their snap on scanner and pulled the code. p0073 for the ambient air temp sensor circuit high. Is this a coincidence that this came on after they got done, or could something they did while tinting the windows tripped this?
As I drove off down the road after determining I wasn't going to hurt the truck, the air temp sensor went from showing -40 to the actual temperature. What would cause this? I deleted the code when I got home with my actron, and the MIL has stayed off since, however, it shows P0073 Permanent ...
So have my first code and its the P0088 error. Seems to be a reading that fuel pressure is high. I feel no loss of power or any issues when it throws this. HAs Happened 2 times in the fast 3 months and the last one seemed to clear itself after a couple hours. VW is saying its APR stage 1 even through APR tunes (stage 1) don't change the fuel pressure. Not sure if its a sensor issue, the start of a bad HPFP or simply a weird effect from the tune. Again I have no power loss or any other notable issues.
