Working on a 2015 f-550 with a 6.7 power stroke. Damaged the wiring harness and fuel gauge not working now. Where could I find a wiring diagram? The low fuel is now causing it to not regen. We have continuity through the wires and they have been repaired but gauge still does not work. Currently now power to fuel gauge sender?

View 11 RepliesI have my aux fuel tank pump hooked to upfitter 3. It has worked perfectly until this week. I started to transfer fuel and the aux fuel gauge and fuel pump both quit. The led on upfitter switch 3 still illuminates, but no fuel pump. I found fuse 9 on passengers kick panel is for upfitter 3. The fuse was good. Is there another fuse somewhere for the circuit I've missed? I can trouble shoot the wiring if necessary, but it's tough to do all behind the left side underbed box and not easy to get to. I've missed something simple before I go further????
View 14 RepliesPurchased 2011 3 weeks ago. Due to not paying attention, put gas in diesel. Had tank dropped and drained but after reassembly, fuel gauge inop. When turn ignition switch on, get normal sweep of all dash gauges but fuel gauge does not read. 2nd tech says sender okay, must be gauge. Dealer ssays if it sweeps, it isn't the gauge. 011 F250 6.7L.....
View 7 Replies 1st diesel was a 1997 F350 dually (White Lightning). Upgraded last year to a 2015 F350 (The Rocket Sled)- the kids named it hahaha. Had to take the 6.7 (9200 miles) into the shop... Last Sunday I took the truck out and about 5 minutes from home I got the low fuel pressure warning. Pulled over and tried to purge air out of fuel system- the low pressure pump was making a terrible racket. Turned around and limped home- reduced power came on soon after. Parked it until I could get to the dealership on Tues. Long story short- dropped it off at the dealer (low pressure pump still making noise/ no low fuel waning, just CEL light).
Called to check status today- dealer can't seem to duplicate problem. Service advisor said if mechanic can't find anything wrong, service manager was going to take it out and try to duplicate. The is the 2nd time I've got the low fuel pressure warming. The first time (around 4000mi. ) was in winter- I changed out fuel filters and it went away. I was towing the 5th wheel. Just had to vent-I have to get this figured out. I wouldn't thing the filter could get clogged within 5k miles. Have a camping trip scheduled next week!!
I know it's posted a few places but I have a reoccurring problem. Whenever my truck goes below 100 miles of remaining range the low pressure light comes on. Within 10 miles the reduced engine power comes on.
First time at 11k miles, at the dealership for 4 days, test fuel filter for crystallization, tested the diesel fuel, checked for leaks and then reset the codes and gave it back to me. Said it only popped the code for low bank 1 pressure.
Now 12,800 miles, driving home from work. 87 miles remain on range, pulled in a gas station and the low pressure light comes on. Threw 25 gallons in it and made it about 15 miles. Currently sitting in a Walgreens parking lot waiting for a tow truck with the low engine power light on. They will only tow it halfway to my house to a dealership since I am out of road side assistance range.
Circumstances right now, its 65 outside so it's not gelling like many other people. I can here the pump running and it spooled up real high when I tried to restart it but did not fire. Grabbed the code reader and it had 8 general codes all for low fuel bar pressure.
Pretty happy that I dropped almost 60k on a truck that hasn't even made it a year yet and not even 13k miles on it
Why my subwoofer won't work? Dealer is stumped. Dealer changed out the speaker and amp. They have been waiting on the Ford Hot line for over a week to get a direction and nothing yet. The speaker does move ever so slightly on highest level.
View 12 RepliesPulled into the yard today after about a 20 mile haul with my 2015 f450 6.7.
I shut it down after pulling in, from what i knew everything was fine. 20 minutes later i started it codes and lights went off like the four of july. A wrench light, oil light, temp light and maybe even an obama light. The gauges did not even move. I shut it down, let it cool then after starting it only the CEL came on. I bought two new trucks in 2015 and both had front end alignments off. The f450 doors fill up with water when it rains.
One day after a rain I put my seat belt on and the seat belt was soaking wet. The cab corner where the seat belt spools up was full of water. The tie rods and ball joints started making sounds after 20k miles so i checked them to find they didn't have ANY grease in them!!!! The def fill tube broke off driving through a small dip in the road (i heard it pop). My first new truck....glad l have my 96 7.3.
My 2005 is doing strange things. The fuel gauge is always incorrect. I have done the following:
1. Replaced fuel level sensor.
2. Inspected and tested wiring from the firewall to the tank.
There are no codes present and the fuel % listed in torque is always correct. The gauge sometimes reads 1/2 above full, nearly all of the time it's above the 3/4 tank mark. I have an android head unit that I am using to gauge fuel level right now. I believe the cluster is bad.
I just had headgaskets (oem) studs, egr delete,oil cooler done on my 06 plus water pump cause the gasket blew. I have a sct livewire hooked up monitoring everything and tonight i noticed that the eot and ect's were way off. fully warmed up and rolling 65 Anywhere from 40*-50* out it was eot-156 and ect-172. Degas bottle was at the normal level.
I am also having issues with the fuel gauge. Every now and then the gauge will go to E and the miles to E will display ---. Turn the truck off and back on it works again. I am half assuming its the plug on the sending unit or the sending unit itself.
I finally received all the parts needed for installing my fuel pressure gauge, but I am wondering if I am going to need a schrader valve on my fuel pressure line going to the sending unit, or if I am going to be safe with just doing a 6 time cycle of the fuel pump like we do when we change out the fuel filters. Seems like that should work for getting the air out of the fuel lines, same concept I would think.

I have a 2015 550 that the fuel gauge has quit, which is causing the truck to go into limp mode because it will not allow a regen on the DPF. This is a business truck and i need it to be rolling. There appears to be a national back order on gauge clusters from Ford. I have another truck in the fleet that I could do without so I was wondering if I could just swap the clusters would it work?

View 11 RepliesI changed both fuel filters on my 2015 F350 6.7 I turn the key online for 30 seconds then turned it off for total of 6 times when to start the truck this morning after driving it yesterday and it took a little bit longer to turn over before it finally did, did I miss something up that I do something wrong. So I let my truck warm up this morning after going to start it at took a little bit longer for it to turn over I turned it off wait a few seconds then turned it back on and she started up how she used to perfectly fine does it just need to go through a drive cycle. This is the second fuel filter replacement nothing was wrong with the other ones I'm at 40000 miles now ... also it seems like the fuel filter on the frame rail is louder if you put the filter in upside down on that will it fit stupid question I'm sure I did it right but thought I'd ask before I tear it apart....

I just got a 03 f250 cc lariat with the 6.0, the truck sat for a month and a half before I picked it up, I got in started and the fuel gauge showed over half and the miles to empty was accurate and the temp was as well, about half way home the gauge dropped below empty and the fuel light turned on, then the miles to empty went up to 455 and the temp showed 67 when it was 92 out. I have read other post with these problems but no one has a solution, people have recommended techron for the fuel sender, but techron is not recommended for diesel...

I'm fairly smart and have looked some things up from other forums just trying to get a one on one response of that makes sense. View 10 RepliesWell, I was cruising down the highway @70MPH and notice the fuel pressure gauge dropped down to 50 then back to 65. Kept watching the gauge and it would swing back and forth from 55 to 65.
Got off the highway. Nailed it at the light and watched the gauge drop to 53 and swing back to 65. Fuel pressure is not steady either. It swings back and forth from 52 to 65. Thinking the pump is on its her last legs? Truck got 194K on her.
2005 F250 Superduty Crewcab 4x4 6.0L diesel/auto
Wife drove the truck before me and bunched the floor mat under the pedals. I didn't notice the mat issue when I drove the truck today. I accelerated fully after doing a left turn onto a busy highway. The motor spun up hard with the accelerator floored but because of the mats, the pedal stuck all the way down. I was approaching stopped traffic while under full acceleration and I shut the engine off and pulled over to the shoulder all while braking hard ( it was a hell of a ride!). I freed the pedal and restarted the engine.
Now, despite a bit less than 1/2 tank of fuel (I have the 38 gal tank), the dash readout was showing "Low Fuel", the gas gauge was below E and the engine was running like it was running out of fuel. I turned the engine off again and left it off for 1/2 hour before restarting it but the gauge and engine still behaved the same. As I drove to the nearest diesel station, the engine was not running "right". Of course the station I pulled into had 1 diesel pump and the pump was broken.
Because I thought I might actually be out of fuel, an understanding stranger took me to the store to buy some gas cans and then to another station to get 6 gallons of fuel. I got back to the truck and added the 6 gallons of fuel. When I turned the key on, the fuel gauge immediately came up to 1/2 tank. I then drove to that other station and added another 15 gallons of fuel to fill it. This confirmed that I had about 18 gallons of fuel in truck when the "Low fuel" warning occurred.
So, what the heck was going on with the fuel gauge? I am sure the "Low Fuel" warning is tied directly to the gauge but why was the gauge reading low? Is it possible that the "Key-off" while under full acceleration followed by hard braking had confused the ECU? I am just trying to figure out if I have a fuel sender problem or a confused computer that corrected itself. Until this incident, the fuel gauge has never been a problem but the wife messing up the mats has been an issue!
Couple of years ago I installed a fuel pressure gauge. I wrapped the fittings with teflon tape. Well within about a year it started leaking. So I shopped around and used Permatex Permashield fuel resistant sealant on the fittings. It says diesel resistant on the package. Couple months later leaking again. So I take it apart again, clean every fitting and follow the instructions to the letter. Well its leaking again. What will resist diesel fuel under 55 psi pressure. All the fittings seem to be pipe thread.
View 7 Repliesfuel gauge does what it wants? It goes down to half way then goes back to full or sometimes even empty. Not a big deal for me because I have gotten used to it. But I would hate to have my wife in here and she thinks it's good and run out.
