What is the weight of motor planning on doing studs in future and need to know what size stand and picker to buy. Pulling cab isn't option cus no lift and stand was planning on buying one 2 times the weight so it's good to hold for the weeks to get it done around work.
View 9 RepliesI Have two questions on installing studs. Does the 6 oclock dowel position really matter? To me it doesnt make much sense because the timing isnt changed with just studs so there should be no issue with valve clearance and such. Unless something isnt installed correctly.
Also what is the best way to clean the block? I thought Senior Master Tech on youtube had an interesting way with a piece of angle iron.
Late 04 6 liter, I'm in the process of putting my engine back together after doing studs. head gaskets ..etc. Its been awhile since I took it apart, and my memory isn't quiet what it use to be. There's a small stud on the ficm bracket, nearest the firewall and I honestly don't know what mounts to it. Ground wire maybe?
View 5 RepliesI am doing heads studs and gaskets on the truck. I forgot to remove the stand pipe and started to lift the head off the truck with the engine jack. Well i bent the stand pipe and the port to the bock was a little loose. Tightened it back down and it seems ok. Could I have damaged anything by doing that? how is that all connected to the high pressure oil pump? I just want to make sure i didnt damage anything by doing that and since im already here I would rather make a fix instead of needed to tear down again.

View 5 RepliesSo what size nut is on the outer tie rod? So far I'm good on the ball joint nuts, calipers, caliper bracket, hub to knuckle (21mm or 22mm--but either way I'm good), and locking hub. I'm putting this all down in my manual so I don't have to guess since i have to load everything up when doing the heavy work.

View 14 RepliesI have a 06 F250 6.0 My battery light has been coming on. Doesn't stay on but I'm planning a trip back east and don't want any issues to occur. I was thinking maybe the batteries. So I stopped at the local Oreilly's Auto store and had them tested. Told the guy what it was doing and he said it sounded like the alternator. He tested it and said it was going bad. He also tested the batteries and said they were good. So I went looking for a replacement alternator and they have different amp sizes. So I'm not sure on what size the original one is and if the replacement should be a bigger size amp wise.

I have looked all over the net and can't find the size I know its a 1/2in socket but I need the thread pitch and size, had the parts guy try to sell me the stud and nut kit seem really expensive for just a nut and to install the full kit I have to pull skid plates and the trany supports just to start to get room to do the job, seems like a lot of work to replace 1 nut...
View 1 RepliesNot sure, it doesn't seem to me the dreaded fuel pump problem. Was driving on highway pulling my 5th wheel after going though the toll both it never went out of 3rd gear and motor started taping pretty bad, turned tow haul off and it shifted up. All along never seemed to lose power, as I was looking to pulled off high way and into A park in lot it started losing power then just shut off. All along this 2min ordeal the motor was knocking/taping. Seems to me like the motor blew.

Now I have a lower motor tap, taptap or chick, chickchick. Is the oil too thick on a new motor, 5,000 miles.
First off I'm new to the 6.0 powerstroke that being said, I bought a 07 f350 with 102k miles in VERY good condition and I'm planning on doing the bullet proof on it. But my question is that when I start the truck it will turn over about 5 seconds before it starts up. I've even cycled the glow plugs twice with no difference. If I shut it off after it's warm and start it right back up it'll still turn over for about 3 seconds.
View 14 RepliesWell hear I am again fix one problem now I got another problem last time it was fuel now it's oil so what I got going on is a oil leak that looks like it's coming from on top the motor on the back I first discovered this nice surprise when I went into the store and came back out and seen two 8 inch round puddles of oil laying on both sides of the motor like I said at the back I thought rear main seal but upon further inspection it's coming from somewhere on top and rolling down both sides of the motor looks like near the turbo what could this be possibly a line or a check valve or seal or o ring on the turbo? Is there a common thing to go bad on these trucks to cause a leak in that area?
View 13 RepliesNothing to be alarmed about, I'm just letting y'all know I have a coolant leak on the front of the motor. It leaks about 8oz. Of fluid/week.
I have been through the radiator issues, 5 in all on my '08 and 1 on my '11 at 52,000 miles. This one is different, I'm pretty sure it's the water pump.
I'll give the official word as soon as I can get it diagnosed. I guess it's because I tow all the time, nothing real heavy, just everyday use. Truck is hardly ever on its own.
After driving about 100 miles there's about 0.25 gallons excessive fluid in motor oil. We are wondering whether it's about fuel injectors' gaskets or something else.
If we should replace injectors, where to buy them trhustworthy and also a quality ones?

After I shut off my truck, about 5 to 10 seconds later it sounds like a compressor or small motor is running, and it runs for about a 50 to 60 seconds. It seems to do this even if i turn the ket on and off, sometimes. What this is.

View 11 RepliesOn our '04 Ex with 195 on the clock I've discovered a pretty good leak dripping. I crawled under it an coolant appears to be dripping off the back of both exhaust manifolds.
Less than 1000 miles ago we had an oil cooler and egr was pulled and freeze plugs installed by an excellent well respected 6.0 diesel shop. I don't think both gaskets could have blown at the same time creating two leaks. It runs fine, degas bottle still has coolant in it.
I've seen other threads that point to the heater core hose and more commonly the "orange" egr hose. It appears that an egr delete removes the hose - I think... but would that Blue / orange hose be there if the cooler was just capped and electrical unplugged?
The shop is going to look at it Monday but I'm trying to understand it better ahead of time.
