Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Truck Wanders All Over The Road Especially On Highway
Aug 25, 2016
My truck wanders all over the road especially on the highway. The stealership said everything on the front end looked good and tight. I just recently had the front end aligned by an alignment shop, but the wandering still occurs. Is my last resort to try and tighten/adjust the steering box? I have owned and driven bigger lifted trucks before and they were no where near as bad. I realize this truck isn't meant to drive like a sports car, but it should at least drive in a straight line. I am at a loss and it is becoming very frustrating to drive most times.

My truck seems like it wanders when driving down the road. Could it be the fact that I haven't gotten used to the electric power steering? The truck is a 2013 F150 screw 6.5 bed 4x4 5.0....

2000 Super Duty 2wd. My truck has a lot of slop and wanders down the road. My rotors are also warped and after they get warm they shake like crazy. So I plan on new rotors, bearings, calipers, pads, dust caps and rear rotors, calipers and pads for the rear. I will also be doing factory wheels and new tires and shocks all the way around.
My questions is to rebuild the front suspension and do it to last what all will I need? I see some moog kits but I do not think they are complete for what I need. I only have 126,000 miles with a sound motor and tranny so I feel she is worth it. I know how to work on the truck but the suspension is my weak spot. At 126,000 miles I feel it is a good investment

It's an 02 f250 4x4 crew with 7.3, 6 in lift and 35 in tires. It has all ways wandered a little bit and I just accepted it. I changed everything in the steering from ball joints, tie rods and drag links less than 2000 miles ago. Everything still seems good and tight. Recently it has gotten a lot worse so I checked again and everything seems to be tight. Where to or what to check next? It's to the point I don't feel safe letting my wife drive it and I don't enjoy driving it.

I have a 06 f350 with 140,000mile and today I was driving to a buddy's house and the truck died on me as I was doing 45mph so I towed it home and check the codes I have 1 low icp pressure and 1 low icp during starting / cranking and 1 ckp out of range I think that how it's worded so I looked at the icp pressure and it's 0 and the desired is around 1000 and the volt is .56 and as far as the ckp the rpm are reading so I don't know what to do about that ? Could the STC fitting and dummy plug and standpipe o rings really go out on me like this ? Or am I missing something? I am also trying to track down a oil pressure gauge for the Icp fitting to check it

On way way to Florida and got 5 hours away and after the truck ran flawlessly for 5 hours it all of a sudden started billowing smoke, lots of knocking, and died. Now the engine won't turn over, tries to but acts like it's stuck. No codes...Accidentally crushed the cord on my CTS so no way to read codes. Just did studs and injectors

04 f350 drw 2x4 ... I know this is a weird question, but i put 4 new tires on the rear of my truck and developed what i can describe as "loose body" symptoms. Most noticeable in going down the highway it feels like the rear of the truck sways and its hard to control and keep straight at times. Check tire pressures n front and rear suspension for broken springs or loose joints. Nothing looks broken or out of place. Prior to replacement truck drove straight n all was good. Also noticed steering wheel is now off center.

I've got a 2012 F250 SD and when i go over some bumps in the road or even down a gravel road, the door panel on the driver side vibrates and it's noisy. Is there any way to pull the panel and add some foam padding or something to stop this? I can see the panel vibrate or heck, maybe it the whole door.

We bought a 2000 Ex V10 4x4 less than a year ago to pull my 2 horse trailer when I wanted to ride (so I didn't have to borrow my husbands truck). This is the 2nd Ex we have owned but the first was years ago and that one was nearly new. This one has 176,000 miles on it and it had significant sway to it. So we have had the steering box rebuilt, new shocks, all new sway bushings replaced and it drives a lot better.
It USE to be just my towing vehicle, but now it's my daily driver (had a BMW X5) and I've noticed that it steers fairly straight on a nice straight smooth highway but when I take the back roads to work (a lot of curves) it wanders. What else should I do to it? And would an air lift in the rear work the same? We had one in our other Ex and it made pulling a trailer better.

This is wife typing in middle of trip. Today we drove almost 300 miles down the road before it stuttered. We lost the tach but nothing else. No check engine lights. It has done it a few times since. Watching with Torque and don't see anything there. Have 100 miles to go and it's happening more frequently. Replaced CPS 4 weeks ago with a Ford grey. Running down road it's 95 day. Oil was checked to be good at 211, transmission 182, EGT 790, pulling enclosed 6x12 cargo trailer. What can I check?

Headed to town with the kids and my truck shuts off going down highway. I pull over and start it back up and make it to 30mph and shuts off again. This time it will not start. I have 1/4 tank of fuel, I first thought it maybe the issue inside the tank causing it to shut off. I get some diesel pour it in and it fires up for about 15 secs and shuts off. I pull the fuel filter, making sure o have fuel in the bowl. Start it up and it runs for about 10 sec. I then swap out the CPS. Same thing, runs about 20 and cuts off. I then call AAA because I am tired and ready to go home. I have it towed to my buddy's shop. He has not looked at it yet.

My uncle bought an '05 that stopped running one day. He was driving down the road and engine lost power. He was able to coast into his driveway. Unfortunately, it's been 10 years since I've work on a 6.0 and no longer have any of my computers.
He did state there is no check engine light. He's going to change the filters today / tomorrow. I'm hoping to make it down there this weekend to look at it, but what to look for. Even more unfortunately, we really don't have any specialty tools or gauges.

Had my TPMS warning go off yesterday on the road 400 miles from home. Checked all the tires, all within spec and continued on. But started to wonder if the spare tire also has a TPMS unit and it could be the spare fell below the threshold. I have not checked it yet, but figured I would ask if the spare also has TPMS.

New to me 05 6L. I bought it out of town and they delivered it today, I picked it up and noticed the fuel gauge was way past empty, no fuel warning light or anything on.
So I mistakenly decided the fuel gauge wasn't working right (they just drove it 200 miles) as theres no way the seller would cut it that close on fuel.
I drove it to insurance place did another errand before I got fuel. Shut it off and it wouldn't start again. Tried it a couple times before it clicked it was out of fuel.
Borrowed a truck and went for fuel. Still no start , took the top off fuel filter , nothing in it. Recycled key 10 times still no fuel?

My 4x4 was broken which of course made it harder driving in the snow but here are a few things I had issues with,
1. When I went to turn, the truck hard trouble turning and wanted to slide straight.
2. When I was sitting in traffic... the truck kept "sliding" off the road. I would be still and then the truck would start sliding....yet the cars/trucks infront/behind me didn't slide. What could be the causes of this ? Some of the front end work I did was,
> Ball joints
> New drag link
> New steering rods
I'm pretty sure my alignment is "decent".

When I drive the 460 on the highway it tends to constantly wander, always needing minor correction. The tires are Michelin Pilot MXM4 18s set to Lexus recommendations, the tire wear is excellent.

OK here's the deal. Cruising down the road at 55 mph, I felt a pop and then the engine just stopped running.
When I tried to start it up, no oil pressure. It appears that the IPR valve may have failed, but I'm curious if the pop was a catastrophic IPR failure or an indication of something else?
