Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Squealing Sound While Accelerating?

Back again.. I just replaced the HPOP and IPR valve on my truck a few weeks ago. While the turbo was out I cleaned it and applied a small amount of anti seize on the unison ring. When installing the turbo I had moved the y-pipe a little to get the turbo in place. About a week after it was running again I started to get a squealing noise under acceleration. The noise isn't a whistle like the turbo but an actual squeal. Its a little bit louder than the turbo whistle. If I am in park and rev the engine it doesn't happen. It only happens when I accelerate and seems to be when there is boost. If I let off the gas pedal the noise stops. I don't have an issue with making boost. I did replace the turbo boot when it was apart a few weeks ago so I don't think that is the problem I checked the y-pipe clamp and down-pipe clamp and both are fine. I replaced the serpentine belt this past weekend and checked all pulleys, they were all very good with no play. Another thing, the pitch of the noise seems to change with rpm's too. What could be causing this type of noise?

Sounds like an air leak when accelerating, and constant at mid/higher rpm's while driving. Hard to tell when parked.

Just noticed a loud squealing sound coming from the engine area before I start the truck, but with the key in the on position. I'll try to get a video the next time it happens. I assume it's something starting/warming up, but it's louder than anything I've ever noticed. It lasts probably 20 seconds.

Towing a 5th wheel at about 10,000 lbs total. Towards the end of out 9 hour trip home and going upgrade the truck begins to loos power and the engine starts making some bad sounds. Although its hard to hear it starts about 45 seconds in and continues later when going uphill. the truck also made a very high pitched squealing/scraping sound (not a belt) like it may have been coming from the turbo. Oil temp was about 220, trans temp at 170 at the time of the event.
Truck has 216k, stock, upgraded trans cooler, original fuel pump.

heard a loud squealing noise and now no boost. 2011 with 90k miles
whats my options and what would it cost.
1. replace with factory turbo
2. replace with upgraded turbo and tune?

On my way home from picking up or new Voltage 5er, I could hear a loud squealing noise when we pulled up to the house. After crawling around the under side of the truck I found the last exhaust thermal couple had either blew out or just fell out.

Well, I last summer my fuel filter/ pump started squealing, and making vibrating noise, replaced the fuel filter changed the noise slightly, some times it would go away, sometimes the line going to the filter under the hood would vibrate, couple weeks ago truck warning light came on- "low fuel pressure warning" came on, hum... went out, came on a couple days later, then finally put me into limp mode, luckly only 1/2 mile from home... checked filter on frame/ tightness, it was tight, the pump on the filter housing was very noisey still, well, I figured 200 dollars cheaper than taking to ford....
I waited and pump arrived 3 days later, replaced it and low pressure warning still on, but pump was very quiet, and when I restarted low pressure warning and reduced power came on in driveway, hum.... I thought code was still in computer, I disconnected battery and turned headlights on to try and kill the code, started it and now the engine light came on, nothing else, and truck ran fine....hum.... went to autozone, and they pulled the code, low fuel rail pressure, p0087, guy said to drive and code should go off, truck runs fine. Drove truck a couple days and engine light went off, Truck runs great.......All is good.

I have a 2004 f350 with a 03 bullet proofed motor. The truck did not have any power and the turbo wouldn't support until I put a new vgt solenoid in and it ran great for about 3 miles... Stalled doing 65 kinda lacked power while accelerating but got up to speed quick. I pulled over and no start. It is running error code kam on pcm from disconnecting batteries but could this cause the stall and no start? Or should I be looking into icp sensor?

It's a 2006 Ford F250 6.0 diesel with 307,000 miles on it. Up until a week ago it ran great but when I was in a drive thru I turned it off (to order) then turned it back on to pull up but the idle was very rough and the truck shook as I revved it up but it went back to normal after I saw a puff of white smoke. Ever since then every few stop lights I will begin to accelerate but there isn't any power and it shoots out a lot and I mean a lot of black smoke for a second then the turbo spools and it's normal.
Today though I turned a corner and began to accelerate after but I had no power at all it shot out an un manageable amount of black smoke mixed with very little white as I pressed the pedal. I put the pedal to the floor and the rpm were up to 2000 still no power I out it in tow hail still pedal to floor and now power! At this point I pulled over and called my dad figuring the truck wouldn't move anymore but I got no answer so I tried to go again seeing how ideas almost and and the truck worked fine small amount of lag but it ran made boost and worked until I got home. What could it be? I've heard maybe my turbo is bad maybe my egr valve but I'm just not sure.

I have a 2013 that randomly stutters or cuts out for a second while accelerating. This happens whether I am slowly accelerating or full throttle. This used to happen once every few months but it is happening more frequently now. It will randomly happen while trying to accelerate on the freeway. The truck feels like it stalls, then takes off. It feels like it loses boost pressure so maybe a wastegate issue or possibly an EGR valve issue. No codes are set.

What could be causing my turbo to be fluctuating while accelerating? I can definitely hear the difference in the sound of the air and today while towing my camper I could even see the dash gauge bouncing around some.

My 2011 6.7 has a strange tick when I accelerate once I speed up it goes away it happens in drive or reverse I only have 29000 on the truck it will tick one to three times and then stops I had new rear u joints put on and is still ticking and is driving me crazy u can only hear it with windows down ....

So This all started when I noticed my 03 Ex 6.0 started to not upshift every once and awhile.It has 300,000 miles on it.As far as I know it has never had tranny filter changed.So I said it shall be done.I did both internal and external filters and the fluid was very dark but not burnt.The pan was very clean and no sludge or metal on magnet.Put in new fluid and ran the truck until warm and checked fluid level and all was good.Now this where things get weird.Went for a drive and truck would not up from first easily or I had to feather pedal to upshift. If I put my foot into it I got a lot of black smoke after about 5 seconds and some sort of shuttering in the engine on deceleration. Ran AE for codes and nothing came up. The engine has EGR Delete. Blue spring, new injectors, glow plugs......

My truck recently has been giving me the issue of wither having no boost , bogging down as its trying to excelerate , then going into overboost. It idles fine , i have cleaned out the egr . I'm at a complete list on what to do at this point the truck is a 2007 F250 6.0l

I have a hyundia elantra gt 03 auto at 111k. When I am at a certain speed I hear a faint squealing sound on the passenger side. It only does it only when I am on the gas between 35-45 mph. it's very faint but you can hear it if the window is down or the music is off. Could it be a belt?
I had my timing belt replaced at 95k so I don't think it would be that. I also had my serpentine belt replaced about 3 times already but every few months it starts squealing again
For example: When I pull out of my driveway in the morning and turn my steering wheel i hear a LOUD squealing and it stops after a few seconds. it only happens in the mornings when the car has been sitting all night.
Also when I run over a puddle and turn the wheel it squeals very loud for a few seconds. It sounds like that when i accelerate but its not as loud and it is constant endless i let off the gas. It does not happen at any other MPH only between 35-45 ....

During an out of town trip today, 6.0L 2006 started burning black smoke when accelerating. Was bullet proofed in 2013 without replacing injectors. Running a SCT programmer. After getting home I connected the tuner and didn't have any DTC's. Checked the oil, didn't smell any diesel on the oil stick. I was running the street tune, so I changed to the performance tune and it doesn't seem to be smoking as bad. What could be going on? This site has always came through for me (a non mechanic) when troubles start.

While I am loving the fuel millage and ride of my new truck, I have my first concern. In the last few weeks i have hauled a truck bed full of dirt, and 3300 lbs of sod. both times i would use tow haul mode, and while the truck had plenty of power, it would shutter when accelerating from a stop. Mostly first gear 0-15 mph.
This is my truck with a fancy electronic controlled transmission, so on the old pickups this would be a torque converter slipping, but all the ford dealer wants to tell me is "its electrical and they want to reflash my transmission". I am at 26k miles and have less than 10k left on my warranty...

Just a quick question but is it normal for the ICP voltage (ICV) to jump around a lot at idle or while cruising or accelerating? Started watching this pid and not sure what's normal and what's not.

Happened last night two blocks away from home. The idle seemed a little rough at start-up but didn't think much of it because the coolant temp was only 132 degrees. Pulled out of the driveway up to the stop at the corner. Totally bogged upon accelerating, went a block, then came the sound of a hubcap rolling down the street along with a check battery light, no power steering, and REALLY sucky brakes.

I just wrapped up a full day's worth of tear down/reassembly chasing an oil leak at the turbo pedestal. while I had the turbo out I replaced the pedestal with a non-ebpv pedestal and replaced the outlet with a high flow outlet. I also removed the stock exhaust and replaced it with a 4" Turbo Back from MRPB. Once I got everything put back together I hit the highway to check out the new exhaust.
To my horror I started to hear a high pitched airhorn-like sound while accelerating. It sounds a lot like an old police siren... I'm wondering if this sounds like a turbo or simply a boost leak. I obviously had everything taken apart so a boost leak seems likely (still original boots with 191,000 miles). I've ordered new boots from RiffRaff but wanted to make sure it didn't sound like an exploding turbo and that I could safely drive it until I can fix the old boots.

I have a 2005 F250 with 186K miles. I do minor work on my vehicles but have little experience working on my diesel. I was accelerating when I heard a pop and a hiss similar to disconnecting an air hose from an air compressor. Total loss of turbo power. No turbo reading on the turbo gauge on dash. No loss of oil. No smoke. Oil and coolant look fine. Took off turbo and everything appeared to operate like it should (according to YouTube videos). Inspected lines and rubber boots.
Rubber has some cracks but not certain if they are holes. How small/large of a hole would cause total loss? Was originally scared to take it to a shop knowing they could name their price. Not opposed to taking it somewhere now knowing the turbo works but obviously would rather save the money. Any tips on troubleshooting? I'm not opposed to proactively replacing parts/sensors as the truck has given me 186k and I plan to keep it as long as possible.
