Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Oil Leaking - Cam Sensor Replacement
Mar 23, 2016
What is the best way to change the cam sensor on these engines? I believe mine is leaking oil based on some general wetness below it and oil dripping off of the bell housing but I can't find an angle where I can see it clearly let alone replace it. Have to remove the power steering pump?

Replacing Steering Wheel position sensor. How hard of job is it?

Is the A/C condenser pretty simple to replace on the 2006 F350? Replaced the compressor but then noticed the condenser was leaking. Looks simple just wondering if there are any quirks to it.

I recently had my injectors changed at Ford and while I was driving it started dumping coolant. If the leak can be cause from the injector replacement or if they didn't put something back together right... 2005 f 350 6.0...

I have a 99.5 with 400,000. on the engine. It has been a great truck but it is time for the some TLC. I have a little leak on the radiator and the water pump and would like to replace it. I am just looking for stock.
I have a 13 yr old that grew up sitting on my lap as we drove the dirt roads around the house and on the ranch. He has been driving this truck by himself (on the ranch) as soon as he was able to reach the pedals, around 8 or 9. His happiest day will be when he gets his drivers license and can drive the truck to school. So I have a lot of work ahead of me on this truck.

Ford catalog does not list the TPS for a 1999 7.3 Super Duty as a separate replaceable part which leads to replacing the whole throttle pedal assembly. I found this to be incorrect. If you have a throttle pedal assembly with separate TPS (separate 3 wire connector) and IVS (Idle Validation Switch 2 wire connector) just the TPS can be replaced.
This is a pic of my 99 with new TPS installed : [URL] .....
Without removing the whole assembly you only need to remove the 2 T25 screws and the connector to replace.
Since this part is listed for more then 20 Ford trucks I figured it would work in my 99 7.3. I bought a brand new TPS from Pete (F250_) that he could not use. He has a 2002 with one 5 wire connector. It works perfectly in my 99. Not sure if it will work in a 2000 or 2001 but if the TPS and IVS each have their own connector it should. Make a visual inspection to be sure.
Part DY-967 or F4SZ-9B989-AA - Potentiometer
I was going to go with a Dorman TPS but like PartsGuyED likes to say "OEM Baby". The OEM TPS through Ed is actually cheaper then the Dorman.
Side-by-side pic of the old and new TPS. Only the center rotating part is different but it fits and works just fine. It also has a better fit so there is less slop and almost immediate response.

By the way, the original TPS was working fine so I have no idea what the symptoms of a bad TPS are. Since it was available I replaced it to have a spare and to see if this one would work. Both Pete and I thought it would and we were right.

Looking for the Ford (or even Dorman) part number for the Water-in-Fuel sensor that bolts to the outside of the fuel bowl?
Guzzle has it pictured here:
The water sensor tip on mine is badly corroded and eaten away.
What's a part number and who sells them that I can get it delivered next day?

So this '06 F350 is blowing fluid from the steering pump fitting when you move steering wheel to either side all the way(lock). Is the internal o-ring blown in the fitting? Do these have the teflon seal at the pump? Pretty new to the 6.0 scene. Got a new line ordered.

When replacing the power steering pump on my 2006 should I go OEM on the pump or save some money and get a Napa or aftermarket remaned unit with the pulley installed? Also, whar is the fluid capacity of the power steering system?

My truck had to be towed to the shop today. The wife and I were stranded for 2 hours and to say I was upset is a understatement. My truck has 13,800 miles and this type of failure is unacceptable. Is it necessary to carry extra sensors around in order to get your truck off the side of the road? BTW, my truck didn't even make it to the side of the road, we had to push it to a narrow shoulder on a busy side road.

I am award of the problem. And hope to be one of the majority that never has to deal with the issue. But, if the problem were to happen and the code thrown could it be as easy as to pull over. And if you had a code reader that could clear code.
Could you simply clear the code and be on your way? If so, how far would you get before the code reappeared and you had to repeat the read and clear the code again.

Had CEL light and took truck to dealer and they replaced Bank 1 sensor 4, two days later, CEL again Bank 1 sensor 3.
I've trouble shot many EGT sensors on Airplanes, and we could tell if there was a failure coming if a couple failed by testing the sensors themselves. My Service Manager told me there is no way they can check the others out. That sounds like Bull to me.

Is there one thing that when broken makes both the steering and brakes lose all power? Does the power steering and hydroboost share a pressure source?
My brake pedal is dead and I get no steering boost, but the master cylinder and PSP are full of fluid. Do I replace both, or replace one first to see if that fixes both? Or could it just be a hose leaking? Not sure how to diagnose this one.

269k on a 04 6.0, in the rust belt, oil pan is needing replaced according to the tech. It looks rusty for sure. 1300+ to change it. I understand you have to lift the engine some to replace. Engine is stock, are there any aftermarket pan's worth looking at if I'm going to replace it?

I have a little over 32k on my 2014. Left today for my first camping trip of 2017. 250 mile into the Eastern Sierras. Took a potty break after 125 miles or so and CEL came on. Used my CTS2 and got a P2201 code which is a NOx sensor. I decided to continue on to my destination and made it there safely.
My question is do you all think I will be ok driving 250 miles back home in a couple of days? Truck seems to run ok. MPG seems to be dropping.
Interestingly, the Soot % on my CTS2 dropped to 0% and stayed there the whole trip. Obviously it's going to the dealership come Monday, just wondering if I will make it home ok and not get stranded in the desert with the family.

Tonight I changed my fuel filters for the first time. Went well. However, when I was hooking up the WIF sensor connector, it wasn't pushing in very well. I looked and the pins were straight, I kept messing with it. I noticed that the sensor was loose in the housing. It looks like there are about 4 tabs that hold the end of the sensor in the housing. When the end of the sensor came off, one of the two springs and 0-ring popped out. I managed to find them and re-assemble it. Is this a normal occurrence? Do I need to order a new housing? If it falls apart and I get a WIF message, is there any type of de-rate that happens or can I keep driving?
