Just noticed a sound of air sucking sound under the hood on heavy acceleration only, the harder I push the louder it gets. Either sucking or hissing sound. I feel no difference in driving. No loss of power or anything else. Just the sound of air coming out like a leaking air line. I will check later this afternoon if its affecting my turbo boost. I have 235000 klms on the clock
View 5 RepliesSo my '01 E350 has been fine but tonight when I went to start it I didn't get a WTS light and the SES light was on and there was a weird number on my PHP Hydra that looked like r5 ? This happened a few times back to back so I tried starting it and it just cranked and cranked. Wtf? So I started pushing the button on the chip and all of the sudden I got the WTS light and the hydra flashed, now the chip was on tune 10 instead of 5 where it was when I parked it. I should also note that during these episodes there was a fairly loud clicking/clunking sound coming from the drivers front under the hood when I toggle the key on.. Sounds like maybe a relay? Louder than I recall ever hearing.

I just finished replacing my HPOP (Adrenaline Pump from Diesel Site) and fired the truck up and its making a hissing sound from the rear of the motor back by the turbo almost sounds like a tire leaking and its loud enough to hear over the engine. The truck is running and idling good but it doesn't seem to be quite 100% when I step on it.

I've got a strange squeal sound coming from under the hood only when truck is cold? It sounds like a bearing and after it gets heated up the sound stops. I talked with a guy thats a cummins guy and he said he had a similar issue and he had to replace the bearing in the turbo? Also when truck is warm it will still do it, like for instance, if I run in a store and truck idles for 5-10 mins it will do it only if I romp on it for a short while like 2-3 mins then again goes away. And if I'm idling or in neutral, hot/cold, it does not do it, it seems to be only under a load. Pull a 26 foot boat no problems.
What could be making the strange pumping sound coming from under my hood after I shut off the truck?? It sounds like a small compressor or pump running.
View 4 RepliesSo I have just over 14k on my 2015....... I love the truck but have had a few small issues. I had a water leak coming in from the roof that would leak through the grab handle. Nothing major dealer replaced one clearance light seal and they said the windshield needs to be re sealed.
Then I had a god awful irritating squeak in the dash..... It only does it late In the day when it's been hot. The dealer said it was a loose air bag. I have had the truck back a week and it's doing it again.
Those are little issues that will get resolved...... I hate having problems with a brand new vehicle but I understand it happens and that's what warranty is for.
I also reported a bad shake to the dealer...... The truck will shake very violently and have a very loud "diesel" sound. It's very specific at when it occurs. It has only done 4 times in the past 6 weeks including today. The odd thing is the 4 times it has done it has been the same time of day in the exact same spot on the exact same road!!!!
Basically I leave my office sit in some traffic and by the time I get to the parkway it has been35 minutes or so. Only happens in 6th at 60 which is roughly 1,400rpm a slight load due to a small incline and it shakes real bad! The typical "diesel" sound you get when under a load is very pronounced almost to a knock. It will continue to do this as you slowly increase throttle until it down shifts and then goes away. I also caught it doing it and I manually shifted to 5th and it went away.
Because of the rpm at which it happens with slight load only doing it in 6th I lean to a Trans issue and more so a converter problem. It feels like converter shutter. I just don't understand the engine sound.
I gave very descriptive info to the dealer..... Several techs drove it and could not duplicate. I just picked the truck back up last Thursday and the dash squeak is back and the shake happened yesterday and again today. So I am a bit irritated to say the least.
I really hate the fact that I know there is a problem but I also understand if a tech can't duplicate it he can't diagnose it. However today I did get a video of it with my phone so they will know I'm not making this crap up!
My power steering pump was making a loud whining sound. No problem, changed the pump. Now after the truck is started I will have no power steering or brake assist, give the truck a little gas and you can hear the power steering pump "start". I have tried every way to get the air out, or is that not the problem. I even lifted the front of the truck off the ground with a forklift and with the truck off turned the wheel about six times stop to stop. Fluid level looks good and has since adding after the change.
View 4 RepliesSo I have a 06 f350 6.0 and this started to happen yesterday. I was driving and all my temp gauges were ok says the tuner, but I noticed when I accelerated and went above 8psi the noise got significantly louder and wouldn't go above 17psi so the cause of this sound is making lose pressure somewhere.
- I check the hot side of the inner cooler pipe and boots for cracks or tears(nothing)
- I checked the cold side and the plastic seems to be in good shape except where the flex part meets the inner cooler had some little cracks in it
- I check the Intake for cracks, didn't see any.
Noise is still there and the loss of power.....so I'm at a loss!

after a loud screeching sound that sounded like a spun shaft rubbing on metal iwent under and found the starter wabbling around. Its going to be a first for me. Anything out of the ordinary i should know before moving on with the replacement..
04 f250 diesel 6.0
The EMS service in the county next to ours lost one of it's new trucks for a few days on Tuesday. While going on a call, the engine made a tapping sound for only a few seconds, then a loud pop and shut off. Ford dealer went and picked it up and took it in for evaluation. VERDICT: Broken rod and cracked block. I have to say, this is the first I've heard of a 6.7L having a problem like this in our area.
Ford was really interested in this engine, as a new one is already on the way and the old one is to be shipped back for complete breakdown. So far, the Director and County Manager have been impressed with Ford's response to this problem. Dealer has told them the truck should be ready by the middle to end of next week. If I hear anything else, I will let you know. Any engine can break at any time, I'm just glad they are moving quickly to rectify the situation.
I was pulling a empty trailer and my boost started to act up. it would take a few seconds then I would get boost. my EGRs went up to 1050 and started to spit out black smoke. I got home everything went well after. Next day I went to another town no trailer and it started to sputter going down the highway. When I gassed it and let go it had a loud like gargling sound. But it would sputter and throw out black smoke every time it did it. I finally got to my destination and turned the truck off for about 30 minutes. Left to go back home and the motor ran as if nothing every happened to it. What is it. I have a 2004 F250 stock with new air filter and juice with attitude.
View 4 RepliesI was heading back into town the other day after fueling I accelerated to pass a vehicle then a pop not as loud as a boot blow off followed by smoke entering the cab and under the hood. After going into neutral and keeping the engine on to maintain brake power I came to a rest in a safe area. I was reading online some people rebuild these but I'm a bit hesitant given the tight tolerances of this part and currently leaning towards replacing the cartridge they sell at riff raff (500 plus new hardware) instead of the whole turbo (850). Now it's time to start cleaning the engine/undercarriage after the 255 mile tow home.
View 3 RepliesI got a little oily residue on my hood here. It looks like it might be a little wet near the coolant hose & throttle body area. I also have the H&S Intercooler pipe kit installed. Not sure how long this residue has been there, but it is still wet, so its not all hardened. Maybe it's just loose intercooler pipe bolts?

View 1 RepliesMy 2011 F350 - 6.7 has developed this KRAZY thump, snap noise under the hood, loud enough to be heard inside the cab, and I cannot find out what the heck it is. It is not directly connected to the motor, you can rev it and the noise does not change. the thump is like, every few seconds or so, especially when the motor is cold. I am afraid this is a 2000 dollar noise and the truck is out of warranty.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2011 f250 6.7, I park under my house everyday, so I am used to weird noises coming from my truck when I shut it off, but now that I just did a dpf and egr delete, and tuner, I noticed that my tuner doesn't shut down until the noise under the hood stops, which takes a few minutes to stop, I use to hear the air valve on the egr cooler shut when every got quiet, but I don't remember it lasting this long, any one else have a H&S mini max and it doesn't shut down right away? the place where I bought my mini maxx said it should shut down as soon as your head lights go out, but that's not the case, the headlights go out long before this noise stops and the tuner powers off
View 10 RepliesI have a friend with a 2012 Kings Ranch and when the key is turned on, prior to starting there is a loud pronounced whine from under the hood. It has begun doing it even when it is started. What it could be. I thought maybe a fuel pump going bad, etc.
View 14 RepliesYesterday as I was getting on the freeway , and I was really laying into the throttle, I all of a sudden started hearing the turbo hiss on the drivers side of under the hood. This new noise is not going away.
It only starts to make the hiss noise starting at 7-8 psi and up. It is very loud in the cab with the windows up when it creates boost. I checked the up pipe connection to the turbo from my y-pipe, it is sealed really good.
There is NO loss of power, No exhaust smell at all. Just a loud hissing sound on the drivers side of the engine bay and ONLY when I press the go-go pedal.
I have also re-tightened the CAC tube boots as well.
Just pu my new 2013 6.7 Diesel with 1300 miles... There is a most annoying whining coming from under the hood and sound like its coming from the secondary filter area or turbo (you can even feel it if you put your hand on the filter lines and housing) and it starts a minute or so after the vehicle has been running and you can her in the cab at 70-mph... At drive through restaurants I have to shut the tk down to place my order and never goes away..

I have a 2003 f350 6.0. awhile back i was driving down the road and it died. popped the hood and there was a small amount of oil sprayed on the hood. rocker arm bolt had broke. that's been replaced and no it won't start. cranks and acts like it will what to fire for a second then it just cranks and does nothing. reading the tech on no start issues theres a lot to look at.
View 6 RepliesHad Just replaced glow plugs and batteries along with a new set of tires. Truck had been running fine for the three days that is was. Went out the next morning and went to start and "POP" a large noise came from under the hood. I have yet to discover where this noise particularly came from or what it may have been that caused it. But ever since the POP it will not turnover what so ever. Key on every thing is normal all power just when go to turn key over it makes a faint click. You can feel the click in the relays on your hand when you try to turnover. But nothing. I am absolutely clueless.
