My cruise control stopped working today on my trip back from Yosemite. Tried looking through the owners manual, but apparently it doesnt have its own fuse. Everything else seems to work just fine, so I am gonna start there.

View 14 RepliesI have been trying to figure my cruise control not working. I verified the switch for the brake pedal and the one on the master cylinder are not the problem. I have read about the clock spring but would like to verify signal is passing through/ not before replacing.
2 Questions.
#1 I have is how does the overall system work? Ok not that in depth but, is there some kind of servo that regulates the flow to,the injectors or is it strictly controlled by the PCM? and it tell the injectors to open to allow fuel to pass.
#2 Looking for a wiring diagram for the cruise control control circuit. Namely looking to verify switches are working.
I had a nice level straight stretch in front of me and engaged the cruise control. No go! I tried a few more times and it still did not engage, even with various button sequences. My thought was that this truck is a computer on wheels. So at the next opportunity I stopped and shutdown the engine, turned the ignition switch OFF and then restarted started the engine (and rebooted the computer). The cruise control works fine!
View 14 RepliesI have a 6.7 diesel extcab longbed 4wd with the 3.31 rearend. I have been experiencing a surge primarily told by the boost gauge when using the cruise control unloaded and either or both going up a steady climb in elevation or headwind. It does not surge if I shift down to 5th. Does not occur pulling a load. Still occurs in manual mode and tow-haul mode. Does not occur if your controlling throttle with your foot. I find that it happens at speed of 65-70. It will boost to about 10 pounds then fall to about 3 and will continue this until maybe a hill or change in direction. It does not occur with a tail wind. I took it to the dealer today and ford had a new flash for the pcm and the tcm. Hoping that this would fix it but I don't believe it did.

View 11 RepliesI am trying to troubleshoot why my heater blower, cruise control and info center above my rear-view mirror has stopped working. I am trying to confirm power to an orange wire next to the driver-side fuse box. I have confirmed no power at the fuses. I am hoping the problem is the wire box below the fuse box and not the ignition switch. I have a wiring diagram and the power feed to these three fuses is via an Orange wire. There are two Orange wires in the box, I am trying to determine which one feeds the fuses for these three devices. I have a picture of the fuse box.

View 15 RepliesI have a 2003 F150 4x4. One day my cruise control was working fine and the next it wouldn't work at all. When I push the set button the little green light in the dash blinks on then off and the cruise won't set. Any way that I can check to see what it might be myself or am I going to have to pay a dealer to fix it?

View 12 RepliesOver the last couple months when I started driving, I noticed that the cruise control wasn't working at all. The next time I would start it was working again. It "stopped" working a few times.
The last time it stopped working was about a week ago, and hasn't worked since. I have read about horn relay fuses, tail light fuses, some sort of module on the engine. Where should I start?
Cruise control not working all of the sudden - This happened to me, and a web search led to a quick solution, would be the first place to check if you have the problem.
Turns out that if the third brake light (back of the cab) goes out, so does the cruise control. Don't know why. I replaced the bulb, and cruise works. I was fortunate that this super cheap fix worked for me. If your cruise control stops turning on, check that cheap little bulb!
I have a 2005 Excursion 6.0 ... .. A few months back the horn started sounding on its' own in the night, so I pulled the fuse... .. Then the Cruise Control stopped working. I have googled references to clockspring failure and these problems... ..
View 3 RepliesMy speedometer stopped working yesterday after i replaced the 2 cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. When i connected the the battery the horn started blasting and I went over tap the horn then it stopped. Then i noticed that the horn did not work anymore. I put back the original cruise control buttons and still did not work .So know instead of fixing the cruise control buttons, I broke the horn and the speedometer while the cruise control is still broken. I checked the fuses and they all are good. What can it be ?
View 6 RepliesI have a 1994 Ford Explorer and the cruise control stopped working about a year ago. The horn still works. I changed the fuse but it's still not working. My mechanic checked the cruise control, and was able to determine it was either the clock spring or the control module located above the glove box. He told me it was most likely a bad clock spring, especially considering the number of miles on the truck (385,000). However, in speaking with a Ford dealership parts department, the '94 Ford Explorer does not have a clock spring. So, I'm back to square one.

Attempted to do a self test on the cruise control. Holding the OFF button did nothing. Never went into diagnostic mode. Button ? A different fuse?

Truck will still crank an drive but acts like it has no power an will only at up to 16 psi of boost.
View 13 RepliesI have a 1999 Super Duty 5.4l Manual transmission 4x4 105,000 miles the cruise control stopped working a month ago, I didn't think much of it because I frankly don't use cruise as this vehicle is usually used to tow and I don't run cruise towing.
Long story short I went to tow my camp trailer and noticed my brake controller was not actuating the trailer brakes when I braked, the controller is showing connected and when I manually actuate the controller its working, so I knew I had a brake light issue, I checked the brakes and sure enough I have no functioning brake lights.
I bought a Motorcraft OEM brake pedal switch and replaced it to no avail,I have also checked the applicable fuses they are fine. I have a master cylinder cruise control switch to change but have my doubts this is the issue since the brake lights and cruise are non functional.
2002 f350 7.3 diesel automatic. The cruise stopped about a 1/2 year ago and i have done the recall and replaced the steering wheel switch. but it still doesn't work. the horn works and speedometer works.
View 4 Replies I have a 2003 CC f350 6.0. I am having some ac problems. I replaced the Compressor , dryer , orifice tube and condenser I pulled vacuum and charged to proper level. I did all this about 3 weeks ago. Was blowing 38 out of center vent driving down the high way. Ambient temp about 100.
OK now for the problem. Yesterday I was at the parts store truck running. AC was cold when i got there. Blowing hot air as i left. Never got cold compressor never kicked back in. I put gauges on it this afternoon High/low pressures where about 10lbs over ambient temp (Engine off)
Ac will not engage at all. Jumped low side cut out nothing. Replaced ac relay old one tested bad still no ac. I can supply 12V manually to the clutch with my power probe and ac kicks on and work great. There is no voltage at the ac clutch connector. I am at a loss on this.
There is power 12V at the low pressure cut out pigtail. There is 12V on 2 of the high side pressure cut out pins. But no voltage at the ac clutch. You can feel the new AC relay engaging whenever the ac is turned on (engine running).
My 2002 Santa FE's cruise control has stopped working, light comes on but no hold or anything, any obvious faults they have that I can try. I checked the fuse, that's OK...
