Every time I start the truck, the Passenger Side Airbag light is on, which is saying the airbag is turned "OFF." I have to push the button to turn the light off, which turns the airbag "ON." How do I reset this to where the airbag is "ON" until I turn it "OFF?"

View 10 RepliesJust bought a 2002 F-250 4x4 Off-Road Crew Cab 7.3L and the airbag light is staying on. I have found out after the fact that the truck has been previously involved in a front end collision. The damage was to the passenger side front. I turn the ignition on, the airbag light will come on solid (just like all the rest, with the exception of the 4x4 and 4x4 low) then go out. Then it flashes slowly 2x then 5x, then goes out for a bit then repeats a few times before staying on. This tells me I am getting a code of 25. I have searched with no luck to narrow this issue down. Everything mechanically works, cruise, horn, etc. The only thing I can find wrong is when I engage the 4-wheel drive (floor shifter) the indicator lights do not illuminate in the instrument cluster. Neither the 4x4 nor the 4x4 low. I am unfamiliar with this truck, so I don't know where to began searching. I cant afford to take it to a dealer and I have children in the truck quite often, so I would like to remedy this very quickly.
View 9 RepliesAbout a year ago, my airbag indicator light threw a code 47. It did this for about two days, then it stopped. Fast forward to this weekend, and it started again. From what I can tell, it is the passenger side seat belt pretensioner. It could be a coincidence, but my daughter pulled the seat recline lever without anyone being in the seat, causing it to fly forward as if James Bond was ejecting someone through the windshield. The next time I started my truck, it was throwing the code. I tried to check to see if the plug was knocked loose during the ejection sequence. I thought the connector was under the passenger seat, but I don't see any wiring (the passenger seat is manual). My next guess was behind the glove box, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
My truck is a 2001 F250 4x4 Lariat.
Airbag light flashes on dash and then stays on. Cruise control and horn wont work. I cant find a blown fuse.
View 9 RepliesSo I picked up a 53' for the racecar. When I'm hauling it on take off I'm getting a pretty good shutter out of the truck. My crew chief who owns a maintenance shop, said it's a known issue, and ford has been shimming the drive shafts.
I talked to the service writer at my dealership and he said it's a known issue and they are working on it. However, he said if they shim the driveshaft, there is a good chance it could fix the problem loaded, but then unloaded I'd have the problem. Is there a setup that's recommended?
I'm towing about 15k, but that's far from the limit of my 450.
Finished my install last night for my airbags. The passenger side looks good as far as alignment top to bottom, but the drivers side is tilted pretty good. I lined up the alignment pin in the upper mount as the instructions indicated into the most forward hole and there is no way to move the lower mount because it is up against the leaf pack tight where it belongs and the tabs on the lower mount does not allow for it to be turned on the axle housing. I believe it is out of alignment enough to cause excessive wear and or improper performance (the rubber part of the airbag is actually touching the lower metal disc that is part of the airbag when there is no air in it).

View 5 RepliesHere's the problem with my 1994 Ford Aerostar 3.0 engine. As many have mentioned here, I'm getting the 5 chimes syndrome, indicating an issue with the airbag system. My specifics are:
The Airbag light does NOT light, even when the key is first turned on. You would think the light might be burned out, but I removed the instrument cluster and tested EVERY bulb. After hooking the instrument cluster back up, the light still wouldn't light, but I still get the 5 beeps.
The horn works (haven't tested the cruise control).
I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting. I have the basic Chilton manual, but it's not troubleshooting the SRS. I understand the cautions when working on the SRS system, but would like to troubleshoot it myself. Unfortunately, I got laid off, and I can't afford to go to the Ford Shop.
1994 Aerostar XL w/3.0 engine, 144K miiles
Having searched I believe that I need to remove two torx screws from the back of the wheel to remove the air bag. These have that damned protrusion in the middle so I'll have to find and buy a torx driver just for that job. What size is it?
View 5 RepliesLast night, my 2008 Prius was hit from the rear. The bumper was damaged as well as a few starches on the hatch. However the latch for the hatch was move forward so the hatch no longer latches. Also during the collision, my daughter's heavy backpack was throw against the back of the passenger seat with enough force to hurt her back.
The airbag warning light remains on along with the dash indicator saying the airbag is off. Does mean all the airbags are disabled? Can this be reset? The car will be professionally repaired but I still need to drive it until I can get it repaired.
So i was driving last night at 6am driving my friend home after drinking... and the airbag light came on on the HWY it said "AIRBAG FAILED" then i went to get gas turned off the car... then the light went away when i left... that would stay on the history on the ECU... i wanna know if i should take it to the dealer..
View 3 RepliesI've had my 2004 F150 for almost 2 years now. For almost the last year my airbag light has been on. No codes, just the airbag light on the dash being on and occasionally the light on the console turns on.
Are there sensors that may go bad? I've looked and everything under the passenger seat is connected. Going to be upgrading the truck soon, just need to take care of all the little things first.

View 6 RepliesI've got an '07 Sport Trac that is throwing the airbag light when a passenger sits down. I took it in to the dealership and they said that the trac on the passenger side seat has a signal blocked when somebody sits down.
Are there any obvious things I can do or check for? They didn't dig around for anything, they just hooked it up and pulled the codes with and without someone sitting in the seat to confirm the diagnosis.

I noticed the other day that when the key is turned to the proving circuit position, in addition to the warning lights on the dash illuminating, the air bag light comes on and flashes.
When the key is turned to start and released, the warning lights go out, and the air bag light flashes four of five times then goes out.
I've owned the van so long now that I'm beginning to see things that are there, but may have always been there and are quite normal.
I just did TSB036-07 on my 07 I4 for the sluggish problem. It turns out very good. Now I got another problem right after that fix, the "Passenger Airbag Off" light is always on even with an adult (over 150 lb) sitting there. I suspect they touched some wires during the TSB service. I will certainly take it back to the dealer and report it back to you. Searching the forum, I saw one reported that the ECU has to be replaced to fix it.
View 5 RepliesI received an Air bag Fault and Parking Break Fault yesterday when I started the car. Found my (drivers) belt latch sensor wiring was buggered so I fixed that. I don't know if that was the technical name for it, but it was the wiring from the receiving latch to the connector. The parking break fault went away so my guess is that short pissed it off. But who knows, it could be unrelated.
However, the air bag fault will not go away. I thought by fixing that it would vanish, but I guess not.
I have found that the light goes out for a moment and then reappears when the "passenger air bag off" light comes on. The other day, it thought my wife was still in the seat after she got out so I'm guessing the passenger seat wiring is the culprit.
I don't have a VAG-COM so the above detail is all I have. I really don't want to go to the dealer, but do I have a choice?
