I bought a used 2005 Elantra a couple years ago for my teenagers. The airbag light came on, so I took it to the dealer. The code they found is B1448. They said they need to replace the passenger side seat cushion module. (I think the value of the whole car can't be much more than that!).

Found a couple of recalls that deal with airbag problems. One messed with the wiring harness under neath both front seats. The old wires hung down to low. The 2nd added a cover to not allow liquid to get on the connector/airbag electronics. The airbag electronics connector is directly below the emergency handbrake lever.
My nephews 2002 had the carpet extended over the connector/airbag electronics and that was suppose to protect the connector from getting wet.
Found sticky coffee on connector/airbag electronics.
Used screw driver to pry up on console tray. Then removed 3 screws on both side of console. Disconnected battery then used contact cleaner on connector and electronic module. Took plastic lid from 42oz round container of oatmeal and used double side tape to secure over connector/electronic module.
Airbag light is off and connector/airbag electronics has better protection from spills.

This is a recurring problem. Air Bag light comes on and stays on. Seems to always get triggered by someone sitting in the front passenger seat AND the right side rear passenger seat. First couple of times I was able to clear it by removing the neg. battery terminal for 30 to 45 min. Then it stayed on and didn't clear. I took it to the dealership and they said they cleared it by cycling the connector behind the glovebox. It has been ok for a long time until yesterday night when I had 5 people in the car. Now this morning the "Air Bag" light is on and won't clear. I tried disconnecting the neg. battery terminal because it was easy to do but no luck. I have checked the connectors under the passenger seat thinking someone is bumping a connector with their feet but all connectors seem ok.
The air bag light stays on & the blower in not working. I checked the fuses good.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2001 Ranger 4.0L 4x4 with 101,000 miles on it. I went to go get in it the other day and the Air Bag Light came on out of the blue. I've drove it some since and it is still on. The light blinks for about 1 minute upon startup and then stays on solid for the remainder of the trip. What would make this come on so suddenly and is there anything I can do/check?
View 3 RepliesI noticed this morning that since last night the passengers side red interior door light stays on after the door is shut. The dome light shuts off once the door is closed however the red light does not. I've checked all four door light sensors that actuates the interior lighting but they all function correctly without any resistance or stickiness. The drivers side red interior light functions as it should but the passengers side stays on all the time.
I'm worried the battery will be drained if the light continues to stay on. I'd light to figure out why this is happening. If I choose to remove the bulb will there will be a draw on the battery? And do I have to remove the entire door panel in order to remove the bulb?
My 2001 Elantra's Air Bag light recently came on and reappears periodically.
View 16 RepliesI have a 2002 Hyundai Elantra GLS, and it has a constant airbag light on in the dash. I have zip-tied the connectors underneath the driver and passenger side to ensure they are not loose. I took apart the center console and unplugged, replugged the airbag module, and the connector close to the gear shift. The two fuses in the fuse panel beneath the storage compartment to the left are good. I am at a block. I can't think of anything else to check, and the shop wants $90 to diagnose the problem. I've also left the battery off overnight to see if that would kwor. Still nothing.
View 7 RepliesOk so the fuel gauge says empty and the low fuel light stays on even though the tank is full. I'm assuming its either the gauges or the sending unit. If it is the sending unit where is it located on this car?

Been having for some time an intermittent problem where the air bag light will come on and not clear. I can clear it sometimes by removing the neg. batt. term. and letting it sit for a few minutes. The "air bag" light always seems to come on when someone sits in the passenger seat. The dealer reported a trouble code of "B1382-- PSAB harness improper pin tension" They said that they re-seated a connector and it was good to go. Now the "air bag" light is on again. Does the description refer to the pin tension in a connector? which connector does it refer to and can I just tighten up the female part of the connector such that the male pin makes better contact? Is it the yellow connector under the seat?
Hyundai Elantra 01 GLS. The main problem is that the airbag light is on and stays on no matter what. This is my girlfriends old car and she tells me that a couple people told her it had something to do with a faulty/corroded connection or something like that... I have been working on this car for about a year and I am finally to the point where I am just ironing out the little kinks. The old engine was bad along with a lot of other stuff, and I swapped it out for a good motor with less miles on it.
I also have recently replaced the alternator and instrument cluster just to name a couple repairs. Now the two things that I want to get settled are the airbag light and the check engine light. The check engine light comes on sometimes and I am almost positive it either needs a new 02 sensor or cat since when it was ran through a code reader those were the two options my mechanic told me it could be. I also hear a gurgling/crackling faint sound coming from the drivers side dashboard/engine area. I am not sure what this is. How can I get the airbag light off ?
I picked up a 2001 Escape 2.0 manual with 160K. She runs great but I realized that the airbag light was burned out so I hooked up my scanner and pulled 2 codes C1414 and B1869. I changed the bulb and cleared the B1869 but the C1414 remains. the airbag light also flashes and gives me a 29 code. I am not finding much on the subject. The airbags appear to be there and it does not appear that it has been wrecked. I am guessing that it is the airbag control module. Where the module is located on this vehicle.
View 7 RepliesAbout a year ago, my airbag indicator light threw a code 47. It did this for about two days, then it stopped. Fast forward to this weekend, and it started again. From what I can tell, it is the passenger side seat belt pretensioner. It could be a coincidence, but my daughter pulled the seat recline lever without anyone being in the seat, causing it to fly forward as if James Bond was ejecting someone through the windshield. The next time I started my truck, it was throwing the code. I tried to check to see if the plug was knocked loose during the ejection sequence. I thought the connector was under the passenger seat, but I don't see any wiring (the passenger seat is manual). My next guess was behind the glove box, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

I have a 2001 Chevy S10 4.3L. The CHECK GAUGES light stays on, and the oil pressure gauge stays at 0. The oil is full, and the engine runs and sounds fine. I drove it about 5 miles with no change. Up until now, the gauge has worked normally. Could it be the sending unit?

I will be driving and the light will come ON and stays ON. And then, it will stay OFF for few drives. Why the light would sometimes come ON?

After I could not figure why I was having the alarm light I drove the car to a mechanic, explained my sleepless nights and many hours of problem analysis, and then the mechanic took his code reader, connected to the OBD car port, made a few clicks, and charged me $45 and then sent me off. The alarm light has not been back since - it blinks as expected when I start the car.
On my further research I have found that VW airbag light will come on if you check airbag with your ghetto OBD code reader - exactly what I had read! It registers "high resistance", and must be reset by someone with a qualified code reader!
I have a check engine and air bag light that stays on. I was told if I dis-connect the battery, it will clear the codes. I need an inspection and I'm short of time.
View 1 RepliesOver the past 2 days I drove without the center of the steering wheel in place because I was in the middle of removing the turn signal arm - I had to wait until I found a T55 torque bit for removing the steering nut. Anyway, the I installed a new turn-signal arm and re-assembled the steering wheel and such. Even after reconnecting the airbag I'm still getting an airbag light on my instrument cluster. Is this a fault code that needs to be reset from the dealer? I know I plugged all the connectors correctly - only one way to do it.

However my passenger airbag stays off and the passenger seatbelt light blinks even when there's nobody sitting in the seat. When Someone does sit in the passenger seat with a seatbelt on, the light continues to blink along with the Airbag light showing off. How can I resolve this without going to the dealership?
