Got that message popping up in Elantra? It has never happened before, but happened 4 times for me yesterday. The radio works fine, my phone connects via bluetooth, but trying to use anything XM just gets me a solid black screen with the failed to initialize message. I've called the dealer and was told unless the problem was happening when I brought it in, that there wasn't anything they could do.
View 7 RepliesHaving issues with a 2014 shutting down. Was at a stop light the other day and car completely lost power and shut down. When this happened oil, engine, and battery light came on. Once I parked car and turned off, it restarted. The dealership acted like I had no idea what I was talking about and would like to have some information when I take it back to have this problem corrected the car is not even 2 years old and has 30,000 miles on it.
View 14 RepliesA few months ago I had multiple misfires due to a failed coil. When it happened I drove it enough to get to an Advance auto to have the code checked that came up. After I replaced the coil the car ran fine, but then the engine light came on with the P0422 bank 1 code. Does this mean the manifold cat converter is shot? The car runs fine except for what feels like the transmission trying to decide where it wants to be around 40mph (like it's shifting back and forth, don't know if it's related). I have a flex pipe that is leaking and needs replaced. I haven't noticed any loss in MPGs (consistently 26mpg city since I started checking). I have 133k miles.

View 3 RepliesThe scenario: I recently filled up at a station that, according to the attendant, had just lost electrical power but power had been restored. The pump was flowing agonizingly slowly, so I asked the attendant what was up, and he said the system needed 20 minutes or so to reboot before the pumps would flow at the normal rate--sounds kind of specious to me, but I was in no hurry, so I figured so what, I'd wait it out.
Well, eventually the tank filled up, and then some. The pump's auto-shutoff failed to work (my guess is that the flow rate was so slow that the back pressure failed to build up to the point to trigger it, but, whatever...). Gas was dripping everywhere by the time I noticed it (since it was taking so long, I wasn't paying close attention).
I have a 2010 Ford Escape. A few months ago, my power windows intermittently failed to work. The problem was most acute on the drivers window, but eventually spread. It's now reached a point where none of the windows work at all - neither from the drivers switches nor from the switch in each door. I replaced the fuse, but that's as far as I've gotten. My question is: what should I check next?

A little online research indicated that I should load an app called "Bluetooth Phonebook" and enable BPAP. Did that and all appeared to go well - all my contacts showed up. However, on closer inspection, several contacts had one of the last 4 digits wrong.
View 4 RepliesI have had my new 2010 Prius for 1 1/2 months, and four times it has failed to go into gear. I depress the brake fully, and push the power button. After the ready light comes on, with the brake fully depressed, I put it into drive, and nothing happens (the display does not indicate Drive and the car doesn't move). It also wont go into R or B. If I press gas pedal, there is no revving of the motor. Pressing park makes no difference either. I try repeatedly for less than a minute. What always works is to shut off the car and start again. It happens when the car is cold or warm.
View 19 RepliesWhy my 2010 Prius has 3 times now failed to stop when brakes were applied on a steep downhill in slight rain? Happened a year apart with no slick road and with tires both new and old. I pull up to a stop sign on a grade, apply brakes, the car slows, then there are metallic noises and the car glides 3-4 feet before stopping. I'm lucky no car or person was in front of me. Honestly not a skid at all. Service tells me I don't know about anti-lock brakes but I've driven with them on cars for many years with nothing like this.

I'm trying to change out the passenger low beam and I can't see to get the dust cover off. Is there a trick to this? I'm turning on it counterclockwise as hard as I can and it won't budge. The high beam one comes off easily.

I installed the Low beam HID kit from xenon supply today and I bought an LED Fog Lights to match the color of the headlight. I tested it after I finished putting it all back and It works fine. I waited for the sun goes down and test it on the road. while driving my fog lights just stops running and there is no green light on my dashboard.
View 3 RepliesAutomatic trans. When jumping off a stoplight or sign, I accelerate up to between 2-3,000 rpm and lift off gas. Tach stays there, say at 2,500, and slowly goes down to normal 14-1500rpm while coasting.
Also noticed deep growl when lightly pressing accelerator to keep up in traffic. Overall, in-city driving this automatic feels like a manual being driven constantly between lowest gears when my foot is not on gas. Sometimes I need to accelerate even going down a moderately steep hill. Does not happen on highways. And yes: I *am* in Drive - not shift-tronic.
Is this just how these Elantras drive/sound? Car has just over 38,000mi. 2015 Elantra SE 1.8L ...
Just noticed when changing from reverse to drive, a pop sound is heard on my 2013 elantra. Also noticed if I'm traveling at low city traffic speed, and I take my foot off the accelerator, it pops too. Going to dealer on Saturday for oil change, gonna let them know.

View 66 RepliesI noticed on my way to work this morning that while I was in Neutral, the whole car shakes. Like, I can feel the entire car shaking, as if there's a Semi next to me. Yet, when I put it Drive or Park, the shaking stops. If I leave the car in Drive, it also will not shake, only when I shift into Neutral. I did notice, that the Tachometer was in the ~600RPM range when the shaking was occurred.
This isn't the first time it's done it, it's happened before. It rarely does it, usually a while after the engine is running. And it's only once, if I run the car all day, it won't shake at all.
I tried cycling my Hi Beams this morning and noticed they are not operational. When cycling them, my fogs turn off, the indicator on the dash goes on(blue) but the Highs Don't come on. I've tried with fogs off, fogs off and reg. lights on, both off, etc. I can't find the fuse relay by referencing the label on the driver's or engine fuse boxes.
View 4 RepliesI like to keep my RPM at 2K while driving on the highway and always drive 62-63 mph. But when there is a slope the rpm instantly changes to 2.5K or higher. At first I thought it was downshifting. But when I slid the clutch to the right I still saw it was at the 6th gear. If I need to bring the RPM back to 2K the speed has to be reduced to around 45 mph which is not safe. I wouldn't mind the higher RPM for short stretches except the horrible ride noise (like a sports car). The surprising thing is the behavior is not consistent. Sometimes it keeps the lower rpm even on an incline. Is this the natural behavior of this car) none of my previous cars with bigger cylinders used to do this).
