Ok, here's the issue, I've cleaned the inside and outside of the windshield with Windex atleast 3 times and it still has a hazy, hand oil smeary, appearance to it. I've also used Invisible Glass with same results.
View 35 RepliesBack on February 14th ,I had my 2013 elantra gls towed to the service dept for arching and a rough idle. It was a code for #3 cylinder and a cleaning of the coils. Everything was good until again this morning ,only this time the engine light is on with all the same symptoms. There is 14,800 mile on it, I hope they get it right this time because it is a PITA to work this around my schedule at work.

View 2 RepliesMy friend got her front brakes and rotors replaced a few days ago and now the brake pedal is vibrating at various times. It happens when slowing down and at a complete stop. Sounds like the ABS is kicking in to me, BUT is also does it sometimes when driving at low speeds (under 40mph) without pressing the brake pedal. No loud clicking noises, just a quick steady vibration felt at the brake pedal/flooboard.
The service was not done at Hyundai dealership. She is out of town at the moment so we haven't had a chance to take it to the shop yet. She called, they played dumb apparently. I don't know enough about Hyundais to diagnose.
I live near Buffalo NY and we get a lot of thick hard ice on our windshields. My Town & Country minivan has a huge windshield and takes a long time to warm up. I have been using a pail of hot water to take the ice off my windshield. Everyone I have told about this is appalled, they insist it will crack the windshield. I have been doing this for quite a while with no cracks.

View 11 RepliesI did not find a solution to my 2011 Elantra GLS's windshield fogging up when it is raining. Other vehicles I owned would clear the foggy windscreen by simply turning the fan on the windshield setting. No A/C necessary.
However, when the Elantra fogs up while driving in the rain, it requires that I put the A/C on (not in recirc mode) to clear the glass. After it clears, I shut-off the A/C to conserve fuel, but after 30 secs or so, it begins to fog up again.
There is no apparent water in the car, or wet floormats, so I'm wondering what could cause this?
Just bought a used 2011 Elantra Limited and noticed a scratching sound when the wipers are activated. The result is a small scratch towards the bottom part of the windshield.
I can see exactly what is causing it - there is a spring that allows the wiper arm to pivot and the spring connects to a piece of metal that sticks out a bit when the arm is flat against the windshield. The piece of metal bows out a bit and only touches the windshield for a few inches when the wiper arm is at the bottom of the windshield.
I have tried to bend the wiper arm and also tried to bend the piece of metal to no avail to get the scratching to stop.
Well we got our first snowfall here and since buying the Tiguan and I had to clean windshields this morning. Go to lift the wipers off the windshield to clean under them and "THUNK"; they don't lift higher than a couple of inches above the windshield and they certainly don't stay there while I'm trying to scrape, brush, clear off snow and ice. The hinge on the wiper arm is below/under the trailing edge of the hood! This is a horrible design flaw.
Not mention that when knowing that we are going to get horrible freezing rain/snow, I would typically lift my wipers while away from the car so they would not freeze to the windshield. Clearly I cannot do this on the Tig.
This design flaw will lead to faster wearing of wiper blades through ice not being cleared and blades being frozen to the windshield in wet turning to freezing weather, a fairly common occurrence here. Like last night.
How do those of you in wintery climes deal with this issue? Is it only on the face-lifted '12s and '13s?
The car will be at the dealer to trouble shoot why the windshield wipers stay on when the engine is running. Will not shut off! Obvious parts replaced to no avail.
View 18 RepliesSo recently I decided to add some fluid to the windshield washer tank, but when I added some, a clump of slime fell right in. Needless to say I couldn't do much about it. Now I have no fluid running through the system. What could I do to purge the junk out of the system? And where is the pump that drives the system?
I figured out I would have to remove the bumper to get to this part. In theory I could take it up to the dealership ...
I have had noise problem under dash or wherever it may be. I am not sure where the exact location because I can't pinpoint it out. I hear the noise whenever I turn on A/C or blower for windshield. Basically, anything which is related to air will make noise. It's like water striping noise. Something like cold water drops on hot metal. You can hear the noise at night clearly but during the day, it is hard to hear but still is hearable. Besides that, the car is quite. The Hyundai service has changed my blower but the noise is still there. The service man said it was hard for them to know what caused the noise but they had no clue right now.

The nozzles on the Elantra appear to be entirely plastic unlike the conventional ball which I can poke a needle in to adjust it. I ran the hand under the cowl cover and could not feel any kind of adjustment mechanism. How to adjust the nozzles to aim higher.

View 2 RepliesI own an Elantra GLS 2012, and starting a week ago, I noticed my windshield washer was coming out through the nozzles with low pressure (1/2 of the windshield). Yesterday one stopped working and the left nozzle is "spitting" (1/3 of the windshield).
I thought they are clogged and today I tried to unclog them using computer air cleaner, but air was coming out through the left nozzle with pressure and nothing through the right nozzle. When I tried to wash my windshield, no pressure on my right nozzle and low pressure on my left nozzle. Same as before.
I plugged off the tube from the hose connector under the hood, and if I pull back the control bar, I have a stream of washer liquid over 3m (10ft) long, but if I put my finger on the hose, I don't have pressure on the windshield washer.
My question is: the nozzles are clogged or the pump is dead?
I know the clogged nozzles are not under warranty, but what about the pump?
My headlights on my 2006 are hazy and yellow and the light output is reduced. I tried some plastic headlight cleaner stuff but it was clear for like a month, and now it looks even worse than before.
View 5 RepliesI already paid deposit to a dealer to buy a 2012 RX350. But I just noticed there are lots of rust on the subframe and attached components at the the underside of the vehicle. I made a video, but I could not upload it due to the size of the file. I uploaded some pictures for you to see. One rust spot is on the real frame. Or there is no way to clean up the rust because the rust are already there? The mileage of the vehicle is 81,000 KM)?
View 11 RepliesWe have a 2012 RX450h and it currently has about 60500 miles. These engines are direct injected correct? If so, intake cleaning due to carbon build up?
We also have a 2008 335 and it is recommended that these direct injected cars will require some kind of cleaning at some point in time. It seems that walnut blasting is the recommended method for bmw's but I can't say that I've read anything on these Lexus forums about intake cleaning.
I undertook this maintenance as a preventive measure, and to see if I could bump up the gas mileage a bit. After reassembly, when I try to start it up, the engine runs for 1-2 seconds, and stops, and I get a "Check Hybrid System" error. The engine will not restart. I'm trying to figure out where I screwed things up. Right now I might have to get it towed to a shop.
I bought the Prius used last month, and it's at 151K miles. I've driven it about 800 miles since I've owned it. It had been running perfectly fine, with no check engine lights or symptoms. The scheduled maintenance items were all caught up. I had spark plugs changed, engine coolant changed, transaxle fluid changed at the famous Luscious Garage several week ago, and they said the car was in good shape. They actually recommended NOT cleaning the EGR pipe/manifold/throttle body or replacing the PCV valve if there were no symptoms or check engine lights. They said not to worry about it until symptoms occur - probably to save money. Maybe I should have listened to them, but I liked the ideal of things running perfectly.
I used information from the "missing under light throttle" and other intake manifold cleaning threads and a couple pdfs on throttle body removal and intake manifold removal from the 2010 Toyota Prius Repair Manual that Mendel Leisk had attached to another thread. I generally followed the repair manual, except for not disconnecting stuff that didn't have to be disconnected, like the coolant hoses on the throttle body. That is to say, with the manual pdfs in front of me, I'm pretty sure I didn't forget to reconnect any connectors or hoses when reassembling.
A moderate amount of dry, sooty carbon material was in the EGR pipe. I cleaned that out. The port leading to the EGR valve assembly was also filled with that dry soot, and I cleaned that out with a pipe cleaner, used dry, since I didn't want to create a sticky clog in the valve. I stuck a vacuum cleaner to that port afterwards, in case I had pushed soot back towards the valve with the pipe cleaner.
The brake dust on my front rims seems next to impossible to remove. Truck is a 10 F150 4x4 Lariat. What are people using to remove this? I expect to get in and scrub, but don't want to damage the rims as well.
