My wife accidentally mixed water in the engine oil valve. Probably around 2 cups of water. What to do?

View 22 RepliesTook my 2007 Prius into the local Valvoline where they said they could drain and refill the transaxle fluid. The guy undid the bolt a bit and said he got fluid mixed with water, no odor. He closed it back up and refused to further service it due to liability. I think he opened the drain for the inverter coolant, not the transaxle fluid drain plug. When I called them back, the guy said he used a standard wrench to remove the bolt. NOT a 10mm hex key.
I drove the car home about 3 miles, but now I'm concerned about possible damage to the engine, how much fluid he let out, but the inverter coolant tank appears full.
I've got a 7.3 tranny that has had ELC Coolant and water mixed in with tranny fluid because of a bad radiator. I drained the fluid from the tranny a week ago and when I pulled off the pan today there is still junk in there. I'm planning on putting in a new filter, gasket and Mercon V but how do I clean the old stuff out of there? Picture.....
View 14 RepliesI was washing my Elantra earlier and I noticed water spots all over the windshield when I was done cleaning it! Side, and rear windows too. What can I do to get rid of them? I tried 50/50 water and vinegar, and a lot came off but I still have quite a bit.
View 16 RepliesA couple weeks ago I had my first oil change - not at the dealer - but at a place I've gone a hundred times. After I noticed every day a puddle, not a couple drops but a puddle going down my driveway or wherever I parked of water.
I thought for a few days it was condensation off the engine, or the AC, since it was very hot. Except I don't use the AC much & wasn't using it when the water was leaking. I looked under the car & there is a hose hanging from the back of the engine area & dripping water.
I've honestly never looked under the car & noticed the hose & it's only hanging about an inch - so I'm not sure I've just never noticed... But until the oil change there was never a noticeable water leak..
Is it normal to have water on the door sill whenever it rains? Driver side. Passenger side haven't noticed any yet. Basically the black step cover which has Elantra on it is soaked whenever it rains.
View 20 RepliesCouldn't find a post for my year, but, I have a 2012 Elantra. I drive about a mile and I see 4-5 bars on my dash for the water temp. Is this common?

View 15 RepliesWe had some unusually warm weather and a lot of rain. After work I was driving home in my 2012 elantra limited and stalled in some flash flood water. This was not deep enough to come into the car. When I hit the water the splash went in the intake and I stalled out. I pushed the car out of the water, waited a few and tried to start it. I have the push button ignition so it clicked 3 times and did not turn the motor over. I then saw and smelled electrical smoke. All my lights, radio, windows everything work. I fried the starter which I determined by removing and having it tested. I ordered a new one from the dealer.
I took the intake apart and removed as much water as I could. I ran the shop heater all night to dry up whatever water in the motor bay that I could. Then a couple weeks passed waiting on the starter to come in. It's gotten cold and I'd imagine whatever water may be in it froze. The day I got the starter I ran the shop heater again 12+ hours and drained the oil out. No real water to speak of. I also removed the plugs and attempted to turn the motor by hand via the crank and I can only get about a quarter turn in either direction. When I put the new starter in it does the same. Cranks the motor a split second and seizes. Is there something I'm missing? How could I have tied up the motor from a water accident? Is there something else electrical I may have ruined that would prevent the motor from turning freely?
I have a 2013 Elantra and yesterday all this water came into the car underneath the glove box / under the dash. When making right or left hand turns you can hear the water sloshing around behind the dash. Its definitely water. What is causing water to leak into the car?
View 7 RepliesStarting yesterday I noticed that I could hear a sloshing sound when I turn the car. It sounds like pouring water. After some driving around my neighborhood I've found that I hear the sloshing sound ONLY when the AC is on and when I turn left. It also has a sizzle sound that reminds me of dropping bacon in a hot pan.
I laid down in the floor and looked up under the dash. It looks like there's a motor and it's leaking water. That doesn't sound like a motor should be wet...The motor type thing appears to be a cylinder and says Bosch GM-M on it along with some numbers.
The carpet mat in the floor is getting a bit wet as well so that leads me to believe that something under there is leaking water and I can assume that it's leaking onto something hot creating the sizzle sound.
We began to have an issue today with our 2010 Elantra. While driving, the Check Engine, Check Coolant and EPS lights all came on. The engine then would not speed up but run slow. The tachometer stopped working.
It was coming into our neighborhood, so we got it to our house. After checking around under the hood (fluid levels, etc.), all looked good. Then we noticed that the mats and carpet are wet up under the dashboard on both the driver and passenger sides. When I reached up into the dashboard over the wet areas, I feel water all along the wiring, etc.
I am guessing that water has leaked in somewhere, maybe after the rain storm last night. We have had the car two years and less than 15K miles. Why and where water would be coming in?
When the water pump goes bad do you have to remove the engine to replace it?
View 2 RepliesFor the last couple of days I have noticed that I have water dripping from the engine area of my after I park or stop. The dripping appears to stop after some duration (usually don't wait to how long it persists) but I don't recall seeing this the earlier in my ownership (first 12 months of owning 2010 Prius). It clearly appears to be water as it has no color or scent and when it dries, it leaves nothing behind. The only change that comes to mind is that I have been using the front defroster which I did not use before. It is not due to using the air conditioning, as I don't use it during the AC during the winter months at all.
View 4 Repliesi have a 2011 prius II, and i noticed that rain water is leaking into the engine compartment. after i look at the hood design and how it closes, it was very obvious to me that water will leak into the engine compartment by design. i found this prius V picture online (i think it is very similar if not identical to my prius II). the blue pointers indicate holes and gaps where water can leak in, and the read circle indicates where water end up.
i have owned 2 other cars before this one, and i have never had rain water leak into engine compartment. do i have to worry about this?
I went to the workshop of Toyota in Iraq to repair the car. But do not have engineers repairing Prius cars. And they examine the device to detect faults only... These numbers faults

I pressed the start button, foot on the brake, (like normal), and the engine revs but won't turn over. Here is the YouTube link of what is happening...

Calling the dealership in the morning.
A co-worker has an issue with a 2002 Chevy Blazer where the oil is mixed with the coolant. My understanding is the usual causes of this are blown head gasket, cracked cylinder head, or cracked engine block. If the cause is a head gasket, they'll probably fix it. Cracked cylinder head makes fixing it iffy. A cracked engine block probably means junking the vehicle. Is there a fairly inexpensive way of determining the cause?
View 8 RepliesIn the winter, it takes a long time to warm the engine. It took me 10 minutes to reach 3 bars on the thermostat gauge. After 15 minutes, if finally reached 4 bars(5 bars is normal operating temp). When I stopped on idle in a drive-through, it went from 4 bars to 2 bars. I have driven several cars and I have never seen a car decrease in temperature when it is running, even on idle.
Do Elantra do this?
My elantra has around 7000 miles on the odometer. I have noticed for a while that after sitting for a few hours or over night the engine has a ticking sound to it. The noise will last for a few minutes then goes away. I figured that the cold weather might have been the cause. Not it is almost summer and the noise is continuing. Im not sure if this is normal for these engines. but any other car i have had has not had an extended tick at startup.
View 7 RepliesI'm due to leave at 6am sharp on Friday morning for that pre-planned surprise 50th Bday celebration I've been talking about for my wife. This evening I get in the Elantra to pick her up and when I started the car it began to shake VIOLENTLY, like I was in a commercial dough mixer. WTF!?? I saw the check engine light was on so I shut it off immediately. Curiously, I had the car out earlier without incident.
I restarted the car and it ran smoothly this time, but the check engine light remained. Calling the dealer, I was able to get a 9am appointment for tomorrow morning. I don't have an OBD-II scan tool to check the codes, but based on the symptoms, and recent poor gas mileage.
