I have a 2014 Sport.
My sunglasses holder on the roof next to the courtesy lights always pops open, especially on hot days.
I suspect the clip that is supposed to keep the holder closed is loose or very weak. I searched online and don't see a recall about this or anything.
I am on my 3rd GTI, a 2013 GTI Autobahn, came out of 2011 GTI Sunroof/conv model. I have various rattling noises in this car. The sunglasses holder rattles all the time especially when i am listening to music with a little bass, the roof rattles a bit but that seems to go away if i close the sunroof shade, also my front passenger door rattles.
View 22 RepliesOur GTI developed its first buzz/rattle. It is a harmonic buzz coming from the sunglasses holder. If my wife's sunglasses are in there, no buzz. If you take the glasses out, it buzzes at around 2200 rpm-2700 rpm.
View 14 RepliesThe sunglasses holder on my GTI 2011 was rattling for years. I saw many other people complained about the issue and some even had fixed it themselves. The dealership obviously couldn't work... I was finally able to fix mine today....
In my case it rattled usually on low RPM as I'm accelerating and both with or without sunglasses inside. The radio had no effect. I found that pressing on the right side of the sunglasses holder would stop the rattling, but as soon as I let go it started back up.
I tried a few things and I even took out the entire unit using this guide, but it didn't work.
What did work was adding padding on the right rim of the pop-out drawer itself. The left rim of the drawer has a little bar that prevents any movement there. The right rim doesn't. Adding some padding on the right rim to prevent movement on that side solved the issue for me. I used some tape for the padding.
This rattle goes away when I open the sunglasses holder and pinch the roof together. It's not the sunglasses holder door itself. Any write up on how to open this up so I can check out what's in there?

Where do you normally store your sunglasses? I'm looking for a place with easy access.
Is it normal for my 2014's sunroof to open only 3/4 of the way, then stop? I can open it the rest of the way if I hold the button. Any way to make it open all the way with one press?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 Hyundai Elenatra 7 months old. the trunk opens by itself very often. I asked at the service department at the dealership and they say never heard of this problem. Also I came out yesterday the battery was dead even thought nothing was left on. I fell there must be some electrical or switching problem with this car.
View 4 RepliesI've had the car since the end of April. About 8 or 9 times I've had people come into my office and tell me that my truck is open.
If you own one of these you know that the word "hair trigger" does not come to mind with opening the truck remotely. You have to purposely work the trunk button. I really don't thinks it's because I sat on the key fob or bumped it so it accidentally opened the trunk.
As you can imagine I keep valuable things in my trunk so this is not good.
The trunk of my 2013 Elantra GLS pops open randomly when the car is parked, unoccupied, and I am well away from it. This happens about once every week or ten days. Last night it popped open during a heavy rain and the trunk was soaked. I can not trust the trunk as a safe place for anything of value. I suspected at first that the remote was doing this by somehow getting squeezed in my pants pocket, but I can not cause it to replicate this by pressing on the pants pocket or squeezing the remote against the key or a pocket comb or such. I have considered abandoning the remote but with no trunk key that is very inconvenient.

So I ended up going back home and swapping cars. Other than a coming up oil change, what could the issue with my car be? I am at about 43k miles.
View 7 RepliesI test drove a 2013 RX450h this morning and almost decided to purchase it. The one problem I experienced was a dark area, about 1/3 of the nav screen on the driver's side with my sunglasses on. Taking the glasses off eliminated the problem. I tried a different pair of sunglasses and was able to duplicate the dark area. I am assuming this problem is caused by polarized lenses. I do not have the problem with my 2010 LS nor the 2013 GS350 I also tested.
View 14 RepliesIn my 2010 Elantra, I have the 2 cup holder in the middle with the flap/lid cover that retracts into the side when opening. It seems a pen has gone down in that groove so now the lid does not open enough to get a drink into the holder. Any tips on getting the pen out from the bottom of the channel where the lid folds into??
View 2 RepliesI have a GLS 2011 and since wednesday my car alarm seems to be working one out of five time. The doors locks but no horn chime and no corner lights flashing.
Checked all the doors and the hood and everything's closed. Also checked with my backup remote and nothing.
How can I turn off the day time running lights on the car? I turned the light switch to the off button but it still turns on when I drive. How do I go about to turn this off?
View 171 RepliesI got my 6k HIDS installed yesterday but for some reason they start flickering every time I hit a bump but they stop flickering once the car is stable or just idling on a light. I think the lights flicker because the ballasts are screwed to one of the existing screws on the car and they kind of dangle and nothing else makes it stable which makes my lights flicker. Question is, where did everyone install their ballast or the best place to put them so they wont vibrate?
View 7 RepliesThis morning I got to the bottom of my driveway and realized I forgot my tea. Turned off the engine and walked up to the house for the tea. When I turned over the engine it didn't start but cranked. Sputtered on the second attempt and died. Started on the third attempt, sputtered and then smoothed out and all was normal. What the heck goes on here? This happens to varying degrees maybe 6 or 7 times a year.
View 7 RepliesJust noticed a clicking noise every time I push the clutch pedal down, I had my wife push the pedal while I listened under the hood and no noise it's coming from the clutch assembly under the dash! It's a 2013 only 4000km's on it so it's not like anything should be worn from over use etc. It's when I had the radio off driving I heard it, not super loud but more curiosity if it's normal noise from a clutch assembly.
As well the odd time I hear well my wife heard and pointed it out to me, when I push the brake pedal (more when we get in the car in the morning after sitting overnight) the same kinda sound more like when brake pad's are gently popping loose I guess you could say!? Like I said its mainly only after sitting for awhile, but we did hear it the odd time just as I go to slow down and only a quick 'click' again not deadly or anything more annoying that the car is brand new and we went brand new cause we were tired of creepy older cars we'd previously driven! I'm wondering if that may be exactly why its doing it since its new and need's to be used a bit to loosen up, this is the actually the first brand new no previous drivers car I've had!
So when I first got my car, the dealer had put in a full tank of gas and the miles to empty range was at 347~. After several fill ups since my purchase, the miles to empty has been dropping every time I filled up. A few fill ups ago, I remember it was 327. The latest fill up was about 318. What gives? Do the current MPG avg affect this number? What is the factor for the variance?

They say I have to replace the steering rack. Can it be fixed or have to be changed anyway?
