I have the 2012 elantra and since my last oil change at the dealer, when I lock the cars with the remote the horn and light don't activate like it use to. I read the manual and it says to hold down the lock and unlock buttons but still doesn't work.

After replacing the battery on a 2012 Hyndai Elantra the Clock, radio, remote control and the inside light stopped working. I saw a thread that says open the fuse box inside the car to the left of the steering wheel and push the Yellow Fuse switch to the Off position then click any button on the remote control then put the switch back to the On position and everything should work again which it did for about a month.
Now the remote, the radio, clock and inside lights are not working again. I did what i did last time and everything works fine when the switch is in the OFF position, but when I put it back to the ON position then all these things stop working. All fuses are fine I checked the Memory, Multimedia, BMC fuses and they are all good. When the switch is in the OFF position the car gives you a blinking message SWITCH ON , which means it's telling you to have the switch in the ON position. I have 64, 000 miles which means it's out of warranty now.
I just installed the Hyundai factory Remote Engine Start in my 2011 Elantra GLS and have a problem that the hazard lights come on and stay on when unlocking/unarming the car. To repeat, this is the genuine Hyundai Accessory Remote Start/Security kit (3X056 ADU00), not a third party offering. Everything that the kit is supposed to do, WORKS as specified, including remote start. The only problem is that when I use the key fob to unlock/disarm the system, the emergency flashers/hazard lights come on and stay on until I turn them off from the inside or until I toggle lock/unlock for the key fob a few times.
I've been through the wiring a dozen times, and am absolutely certain that the kit is wired correctly -- again all features work. Now, I find it interesting that NONE of the wiring of the kit (based on the schematic) comes close to touching a circuit that is identified as hazard/flashers! I even temporarily disconnected all four leads from the kit that go to the front headlamp circuits and rear tail lamp circuits -- and the hazards STILL CAME on when unlocking. This is telling me that there is an indirect/unintended "connection" between the kit and the triggering of the hazard circuit.
The kit is clearly the correct one for the car, and the car has the right equipment for the kit (i.e. No Smart Key, has auto transmission, power windows, power locks, etc). Why the hazard lamps come on when I click the keyfob to unlock the car?
Ok on Sunday I washed my car, dried it including opening the hood and trunk as I normally do. On Monday morning I pushed my remote twice like normal and started to walk away but then i noticed I heard no horn. So I hit the lock button again twice in a row this time looking at the car and this time I noticed that the lights didn't flash either, however I could hear the locks lock. Just to make sure I tried to open the doors and they were locked.
So today I got out the manual and looked in section 4/12 - 4/18. It says that one lock button pressed lights flash, within 4 seconds hit again and lights flash and horn will honk once. I never saw anything about deactivation of this feature... So Just to make sure i went around and opened all doors, trunk and hood, then closed them all. I tried again to arm the alarm, hit the lock button twice and again no horn honk or flashing lights. So I finally opened up the hood and wanted to see if the hood pressure switch was maybe out of alignment. looked fine then i held it down and pressed the lock button on the remote, and BAM the lights flashed, pressed it again and lights flashed and horn honked once. Held it down for about 20-25 seconds till i saw the alarm light start flashing released it and the alarm set off. Next I closed the hood tried again, but once again the lights didn't flash and no horn....
Started looking at the top of the hood where the pressure switch would touch touch when closed, and noticed that it looks like maybe I am missing a rubber stopper on the hood that presses the switch, maybe when i was drying under the hood I knocked it off? Or maybe my pressure switch needs to be adjusted?
I just bought a 2010 f150 and it came with the single button remote start. I've been reading lots of posts about remote start but none with my issue. Mine when you push the button the horn beeps, ignition comes on, the seat slides forward, then the horn beeps just one time again, and it just sits there with the radio playing and not running. Everyone else is getting a 3 beep error code and I'm getting just the one beep.
View 8 RepliesIn my 2010 IV, the brake lights activate on the late side. I can only roughly measure it, but brake lights go on when the brake pedal is depressed at least 1.5 inches. I am used to brake lights in other cars activating with a light touch of the pedal.
Problem is: this really ratchets up the danger of tailgaters, who cannot see when you are beginning to stop. Occasionally, a driver who has been trailing me asks if the brake lights are working properly.
So, my wife's laptop bag got stolen out of a coworkers car... It JUST SO HAPPENED to have our new Elantra key fob (no keys, JUST the transmitter). Any way to go get a new transmitter and program it to THAT one; rather than risk the thief coming back and opening our doors?
View 25 RepliesI was going to check the oil so I popped the hood and as soon as i did that the horn started to honk and the 4 ways came on. didn't have the key in the ignition. it wouldn't start either while this was going on. had to take battery cable off. Rehooked after awhile and the same thing.
View 3 RepliesI know the first thing you all will say is to check my fuses and relays. I already have done every last thing related to that to try and figure out the problem. The only thing I can bring my mind to consider is that one of the relays located on the back of the interior fuse box, might be the problem. However I cannot get to that easily without tearing my car apart, which I do not want to do without truly knowing that is the root of my problem.
I had a collision guy (family friend) look at my car for free, knowing he had limited knowledge on electrical, he thinks that it is my ECM or ECU possibly.
Amongst the clock, radio, and keyless entry being out, my gauges spin around when I turn the car on, and my door chime also fails.
I truly don't think this is the case because I didn't think the ECU controlled the radio and lights, more so that it controls when the car shifts and such.
Occasionally, when I use the key (not the key fob) to open the driver door, after turning the key, the horn will beep-beep-beep-beep.
Then, I put the key back in the keyslot, lock the door & unlock it, and it stops. Why that happens?
2014 Elantra with Preferred Package. (My key fob is nowhere near the car. It is just with the key).
I would like to add the alarm /horn to the lights when I open or Close the car. It is possible?

When I use the remote to lock/unlock the doors the drivers side door won't activate . . . .unless it's really cold outside. The other 3 doors work year round.
Sounds weird but as the weather gets colder the lock on the drivers door will start to work. As winter turns to summer here in Illinois it starts to act up again. When it does work, it seems that unlocking works more consistently than locking.
Asked the dealer to have a look at it. They said it was a "weak actuator motor" and suggested to replace it. Sounds bogus to me.
I've tried to have a look down there but I'm afraid to take it all apart for fear I won't be able to get it all back together. Are there adjustments that can be made to the linkage or are lubrication points that might get this thing back working again . . . . . . all year long?
I also noticed that manually working the passenger side lock will lock the rear doors but won't lock the drivers door so it's not the remote. I never paid attention to whether manually working the driver side lock would lock the other doors but I think not since the buttons are right there on the drivers door.
When you press your remote, trunk will stay closed and won't open. Must use the lever under the seat for opening it. What can cause this issue.
Battery is new. Also there is some another issue, didn't look it yet, one of the plate lamp is not working while trunk is closed. When you lift up your trunk it will begin work, when you close - no work.I assume there is some wire connection problem, but how it might affect the opening a trunk?
I purchased a replacement hella remote for my Passat. I have read countless websites and internet posts on how to reprogram the remote. All of which I have tried and none have worked. I know you need two keys and the FCC ID from the old remote must match the replacement. How to program the remote for a 98 passat? I know the dealer would do it but it is a ridiculous price for something that should take about 3 minutes to do.
View 6 RepliesRecently purchased a 2016 Elantra. All was working well with car. Now, all of a sudden, when I turn on car via remote start the heater isnt coming on like it did before. It wont turn on until I put key in ignition. I had to get a new remote recently and seems like thats when it started to happen, but I cant be sure. Is it possible the remote was programmed incorrectly? Or is it more likely a fuse or relay issue?

View 1 RepliesMy 2013 Elantra doesn't come with a key lock for the trunk; the only way to open it is via the key fob or the manual release under the driver's seat.
Is there any way to disable the key fob from opening the trunk, so that only the manual release will work? I'd want to do this for security reasons. My old car had a "valet switch" in the trunk, but the Elantra doesn't have it. I don't know if there's a mechanism I can unplug, or if removing the trunk fuse from the interior fuse panel would do the trick...
Last year my oem remote starter worked great. This year when I start the car with the remote start the climate controls do not power on until I insert the key and turn it. I've pulled just about every fuse out, in and under the hood and can't find the problem. Not sure where to go from here.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2005 Prius. The remote keyless entry just stopped working for locking and unlocking the doors. I replaced the battery and it didn't affect it's performance. The key will still start the car without inserting it into the dashboard. It feels like the unlock portion of the remote is "stiff" and does not depress. It is toyota model number B31EG.
