Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Radio Volume Too Low
Jul 23, 2014
2011 Limited with Navigation .... Supposedly a 360 or 380 watt stereo.
When streaming from my phone, it's great, using Sirus/XM, it's terrible. I called Sirus/XM, no luck there. I've asked the dealer about it several times over the last 3 years, no luck.
Has any found if there are Line Level input settings hidden that can be adjusted? Since it's loud enough when Streaming, that seems to be the issue. I really don't want to buy an amp, etc. I'd be happy with the volume level I get when streaming if it was that loud with Sirus/XM...

I have a 2010 Prius and I noticed for the first time today that the volume control knob stopped responding when I twisted it. I turned off the radio off then back on and it appeared to be working again.
My car has about 41,000 miles on it so I'm not sure if the warranty is still applicable.

Is there a possibility of the radio itself overheating causing this issue. I experienced this the other day, was driving around and the volume control on the radio no longer worked. Could turn it off and all other functions worked but the volume could only be changed from the tracer buttons on the steering wheel. Shutting the car off and back on worked but for how long? Seems that this should be a recall since several owners have experienced this issue with the jbl stereo.

I think mine is not working. Or I do it wrong? I checked the speed volume on the option (sound).

I've noticed one a while that my steering wheel volume control freak out! Sometimes, when I push it, instead of volume going up or down the telephone function gets activated?

My XM radio is stuck on channel 1, and won't change. It was stuck on a different channel initially and I unplugged the battery and all it did was make the radio stuck on channel 1 now. I talked to sirius and they told me to take to dealership because their reset wouldn't work. Haow to fix it?

I have a 2013 Elantra and had to disconnect the battery. Once the battery was reconnected, there is no sound coming from my speakers. The radio turns off/on, searches for stations, etc. Everything I have read tells me to push the reset button, which is a tiny hole on the radio face plate. I have had 4 different people look for it, and it is NOT there. Looked in the owners manual about battery change and it says to reset the radio, but the manual has no instructions on how to do this. We have pulled fuses, disconnected and reconnected the battery again but it still doesn't work. Purchased the car used and never received any information on the radio code as other forums say I need to have. 2 hours in the car in silence is not fun.

My radio in the B6 seems to be acting strange...... I'll have the volume at a set level and it will fade up and down, like the volume is being ever so slightly raised and lowered. I thought at first it was some sort of speed-volume control but it fades up and down for no apparent reason. I have the in dash 6-cd changer with the XM built in.

Whenever I turn my car off with the radio on, then turn the car back on, the radio is never at the same volume. It is normally quite louder than I would like when just sitting down and getting situated. This is petty, and my only quip with the car. Just curious if they are all like this. I didnt find anything in the manual, and I know I can contact my dealer, but I thought I would ask here first, we are the ones that drive these cars everyday.

I just purchased a 2016 Hyundai Elantra and the FM radio channels are all experiencing intermittent "buzzing/humming" on them in the background.
AM and Sattelite radio are fine. I've checked on other FM radios from same locations as the Elantra, and those are fine too.

We had to replace our radio and the new one the volume would not work just driving down the road. Dealer has been great in working with us, got us a second new radio and it is having the same issue. Also the second new radio will not change FM/AM stations, doesn't matter which station you switch too it stays on the first station when you originally turn on the car.

We have a 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero (not sure the current equivalent in US, it used to be the Montero but I think they have since discontinued it). It's a great car. One rather annoying issue we are having with it at the moment...
The radio changes volume by itself. It goes up, it goes down, all on it's own without any input from us. Here are some observations:
- Only happens when the car is in motion, at a stand-still it is fine.
- Only happens when listening to radio, not CD player or DVD player.
The car does not have a "knob" for the volume, it is just buttons (rules out potentiometer thingy)
There are steering wheel controls, but the fact that the volume changes only happen when listening to the radio, and not CD, make me believe it's not those. Same with speed-sensitive volume controls. We have turned those off in the settings and it still does the same. Even with them on or off, the CD volume works as expected.

I could barely hear the radio and the volume was not working. A couple of days later, the display screen (GPS, Radio, ...) would not come off after I turned car engine off. The battery discharged as a result. When attempting to start the car, lots of clicks were coming off the fuse box under the hood.
My solution: I removed the negative on battery and put it back; now everything is back to normal.

After replacing the battery on a 2012 Hyndai Elantra the Clock, radio, remote control and the inside light stopped working. I saw a thread that says open the fuse box inside the car to the left of the steering wheel and push the Yellow Fuse switch to the Off position then click any button on the remote control then put the switch back to the On position and everything should work again which it did for about a month.
Now the remote, the radio, clock and inside lights are not working again. I did what i did last time and everything works fine when the switch is in the OFF position, but when I put it back to the ON position then all these things stop working. All fuses are fine I checked the Memory, Multimedia, BMC fuses and they are all good. When the switch is in the OFF position the car gives you a blinking message SWITCH ON , which means it's telling you to have the switch in the ON position. I have 64, 000 miles which means it's out of warranty now.

03 GX470 w/ ML/Nav, weird radio problem - the radio cuts out at high volume, and only at high volume. It cuts out for 1 sec, then comes back, then cuts out, then comes back. Screen is on all the time while this happens, and occurs with all inputs - AM, FM, dvd. These are what I've done to diagnose so far:
1) disconnected battery for 10 minutes, no joy
2) replaced 2 fuses pertaining to radio, no joy
3) took out cd in dvd player, no joy
Here's what's weird: When I move the balance to have all/most of the sound coming from the rears, it doesn't cut out! See attached pic. I am able to get it to the 3rd line below the lowest; if I go above this line, it starts cutting out.
I did replace both front speakers a month ago, and was working fine all this time.
Bad amp? Bad front speakers?

My wives 2006 Passat, with stock radio, has an issue where the default stero level is too high. I've gone into the options and tried to turn down the starting volume, but it won't go down, only up. Is their someway to reset the stero back to default original settings or something? It's really startling at night when you hit the key and something is that loud!

I have an 09 Camry LE. When driving, the volume is consistent until I begin braking. It then lowers the volume itself. When I accelerate, it ramps back up.
Also on the highway, the bass is excessive. I usually turn it down to -1 or -2 depending on the track. The car is completely stock. I've had the car for a few weeks now.
This is the only factor that may lead to me replacing the stock radio. I don't want too, but if this problem can be solved by that, than I will.

I just purchased a 2009 Sonata (82,000) miles for my daughter to drive. Didn't notice this issue during the test drive, but discovered it shortly after leaving the dealership.
The radio will randomly adjust the volume to 0. If I attempt to raise the volume it immediate mutes it again, and no other radio controls will work. Turning off the radio and turning it back on seems to fix it for about 5 minutes and then it happens again.
Also, any use of the steering wheel audio controls will trigger this behavior, and the steering wheel control buttons themselves just seem to do random things.
I'm annoyed at myself for not noticing this during the test drive, and phoned the dealer who just sold me the car but naturally he just said, gee, that stinks...or in so many words.
Does this seem like the head unit? The steering wheel controls? Something I can fix? I did try pulling the fuse but that seemed not to work. Also turned off the AVC. A bit of a bummer after only owning the thing for an hour...

yesterday, I was driving along a stretch of road I have driven hundreds of times. The difference this time was my radio decided to turn the volume very low then back to normal. When I heard the sound start to lower I looked at the radio & I could see the numbers for the volume level decline then go back up.

I have a 2013 F150 King Ranch pretty well loaded up. In the last several thousand miles (I have approximately 45,000 miles on it), the AM radio, which I listen to a lot, has the volume go up and down on its own. Very annoying. i took it to the dealer to have it analyzed and fixed and after 3 days, came back and said Ford said to start w replacing antennas (all) @ a tune of approximately $450, WITH NO GUARANTEES! Unbelievable! Then it that didn't work, replace the radio.
Well in reading some forums, it appears this has been going on a long time and it appears that Ford doesn't seem to care. This is the first Ford I've owned and I as a business owner, have owned many, many Chev PU's over the years with no problems. My 2010 Suburban doesn't have this problem w twice the miles.
