Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Passenger Side Rear Door Is Squeaky
Jul 16, 2014
My passenger side rear door is squeaky from lack of use. Its not the hinges, but the little arm that goes into the door. Should I grease or oil it?

View 7 RepliesMy driver's side and passenger side door handles squeak when using them to close or open the door. Its kind of an annoying issue which surprised me due to the quality and fit and finish on the rest of the car. The door handles do NOT make noise when driving the car, only when I grab and squeeze and close or open the door. I will be taking it to my dealer's service centre at my earliest convenience to see if they can remedy the issue.
Here's a short video to show you what I'm experiencing. I am squeezing the door handle a little more aggressively for the purpose of the video but I'm not being rough. [URL]....
Started a month ago. Whenever I go over a bump, steep incline, or even just turn right (not left) the car makes this creaking, almost groaning, sound from the right rear.
Hard to isolate it since when I push down on the right rear from the outside I can't hear anything. Gonna head into the dealership to see what they think this week but it's always a fight trying to get them to do in warranty service .
I purchased a 2014 Santa Fe 2.0T last June. Has been an awesome car up until about 2 weeks ago. I started to notice a squeaky rattle sound coming from somewhere around the rear passenger door. I've tried pressing on things, checking all the door pockets and can't seem to find it. Looked at the front mud flap in front of the rear tire and it's tight. It only does it when I get above 45 MPH and is sporadic. I'm afraid the dealer won't be able to replicate the problem.
View 5 RepliesI have a vertical scratch on the rear passenger door on the driver's side. When window is fully closed, the scratch starts from below the weather strip molding and goes up about halfway on the glass. It looks to me something inside the door is rubbing against the glass when it's rolled down.
View 3 RepliesI drive a 2013 Elantra Limited. I cannot open the Driver side rear door from inside. I am hoping its a quick thing to enable this?
View 7 RepliesHaving issue with power windows in 2010 Prius. I just noticed today that I can't roll down the rear passenger side window from the driver door switch but all the other windows work, and the rear passenger window works as I can roll down from the door itself.
View 2 RepliesMy passenger side front and rear windows dont work. Both driver side windows work, just not the right side/passenger side.
Also when I press the master door lock/unlock switch on the driver seat, every door except the rear passenger door works. It stays unchanged so I guess it is not receiving a signal or something is not letting the signal reach the lock.
Where the Air Door Actuator is located in the Elantra 2014, and How to reach it?
I want to check it as my AC is blowing Hot air from driver side and Cold air from passenger side.
I read that there are 2 of them, one for temp control and another one controls where the air goes, one at the passenger side and one at the driver side...
Which one should i start with, where is it located, and how to reach it?
My 1.8 2014 Elantra AC started blowing Hot Air from Driver Side and Cold from Passenger side and i noticed this after a battery problem. It all started when battery problem, suddenly both sides warm ac, i took it to a mechanic, he said nothing to do with battery and said it is a freon problem, he fixed it for 1 day or 2, and i went changed the battery, then suddenly, one side hot and one side cold.
Things i tried:
1. Removing AC fuses for 1 hour
2. Removing AC fuses while car on and then turn off car and replace fuses
3. Changed car filters
4. Hot cold hot cold switching technique
5. No freon leakage
Temperature here is around 120 degrees so you can imagine!
I have just bought a 2013 Elantra GLS and occasionally the passenger door won't shut. When you close the door, it will bounce back. It's like it's not catching. I took it to the dealer and they lubed the mechanism that catches, but it did it again. And of course, this is one of those things that won't repeat itself at the dealership.
View 16 RepliesI noticed earlier this afternoon that when I opened my front passenger door to reach in and get my phone out, the hinge creaked/squeaked. Everytime I would open/close the door it would make the sound. This door has only been opened about 5 times since I bought the car on April 30th. I have never heard tell of this on a new car, so it is disappointing. Had I had a passenger in the car and they heard that, well it would have been a little embarrassing on a brand new car. It sounded like a 30 year old car that had never had its door hinges oiled. It may just need some grease or something, but I would think this should have been lubed properly during assembly.
View 7 RepliesI recently tried to install a hid with relay kit on my 2013 elantra and I have ran into a problem. The passenger side hid only turned on for a second and was off right away and I could hear some buzzing noise coming from the passenger side (the driver side hid was working fine). I was not sure if that was because my relay kit only came with 1 signal wire, that's why the passenger side wasn't working or if the products were made cheaply overall. Anyway, I have attached some photos on what I bought.
View 10 RepliesExperienced an occasional (not always) rattle in the passenger rear area of the 2012 Elantra GLS. I have a video on YouTube of this specific rattle that I will post eventually, it says i have to wait a few days until I can post links on here.
View 22 RepliesNotices such a noise from the rear passenger side door (same side as the fuel cap. Also experienced this same window 'malfunction'. Lowered it partially and then auto-rolled it up. Instead of auto-rolling up to a close, it rolled all the way up and then all the way down where is stopped.
View 4 RepliesI have a problem with my 2011 sonata, the rear passenger side door lock will not unlock. Whether I use the key fob, the internal door unlock button or the buttons on the door handles from the outside. I can't even get the door open to take the panel off.
View 2 RepliesThe passenger side rear door will not open. I've tried from the outside handle, inside handle, jerking, pushing, etc. Nothing.
How in the world can I find out and fix the problem if I can't get the door open to get the door panel off??? And yes, I've tried unlocking it...
Based on searching it looks like on older Elantra's this would always display when driving solo but I've only had the car 3 days and I never noticed this before. Will this like be on and orange whenever I don't have a passenger?
View 13 RepliesMany months ago I had a rattle in my 13 Azera. Of course when I took it back to the dealer they heard it but when I left it was gone. I had a scheduled service to have it looked at but the rattle never came back.
The last two weeks it is back louder than before. I thought it might be coming from the passenger seat belt housing on the side of the door but now it sounds like it might be coming from the passage side rear door or maybe the sun roof. Hard to tell yet my girlfriend was in the car last night said it wasn't coming from the passenger side seat belt housing sounded more like the rear of the car.
So going to make an appointment to get it looked at next week. I hate rattles! I looked all over the car yesterday after had her cleaned up. My trunk is empty, so not sure what it could be.
At least 3 times in the last 8 months of ownership I have shut the rear door on the passenger side and the car locked it's doors and armed the alarm.
View 7 RepliesI have a strange "wind noise" at 70+ mph -- only coming from the passenger side -- definitely the mirror area. I think the door seals are OK and the problem is the painted mirror cover making a sound (resonating/vibrating) when the wind hits it at high speed (I was tapping on it with my fingers and I could see where this might happen). So I went and got some Dynamat type stuff to put on the inside. But I cannot figure out how to get the cover off.
I saw a couple posts on people installing the turn signal indicators, with pictures of the mirrors half torn apart, but none of the posts mentioned how they got the painted cover off. I tried to pry it off by jamming my fingernails in a crack and getting a hold, but that's not working.
