I noticed that if I forget the lights on when locking the car, I don't get any warning. Is that normal? On the Toyota, you get that chime sound that tells you you forgot something like the key in the ignition or the lights on.
View 16 RepliesI have a 2013 Limited w/o nav, and 3 days ago I noticed my car won't honk after I lock it using the key fob, but it will lock it. How can I turn that feature back on? I like that reassuring honk! If I can avoid a trip to the dealership, that'd be best!
View 6 RepliesI folded down my rear seats on my 2012 Elantra and now I am unable to get them to lock back in normal position. It doesn't matter how hard I slam the seats I cannot get them to lock. This is the second time I folded down the seats and I am not sure if they locked from the last time I folded them down. Maybe it is the cold weather in NY that has an affect on the lock.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata, performs flawlessly, my wife's 2011 Elantra, not so much. We've had issues with her car from the get-go. The Elantra has 32k miles on it. About 15k miles ago the dealership reprogrammed the transmission. Problem seemed to be fixed, to a degree. Hiccup here and there.
Last night when my wife came home from work she said it was shifting hard. I just shrugged it off. We came in to town, about 5 miles down a busy highway. 55mph, no problems.
Car sat for a couple hours. We got in the car to come home, buttery smooth first few shifts to 35 mph. Car had probably been running about 5 minutes. Pulled out onto highway, shifts 1-2 fine, 2-3 holds about 2500 rpms, won't shift, won't shift, BAM! repeat 3-4, and I believe 4-5. I was so shaken up I didn't count. I pulled off and took the back road and it continued to do it for about 3 miles. It almost feels like the torque converter is locking up. Someone mentioned a transmission temperature sensor, but that is only in Sonata's, no one has seen it in an Elantra.
By the time we got home, the car was shifting normal. This morning I get in it because now my wife won't drive it, and it works fine. Works fine all day.
Go into dealership, they say everything is fine, they called Hyundai, they say nothing wrong, come back when you have a problem.
Ever since I installed my L.e.d. lights in my doors the automatic door lock once moving keep locking like 3 times. I don't know why this would happen I didn't touch anything I shouldn't have. Why this would be happening.

Whenever I get out of my car for a few minutes, I keep the engine running, so what I do is, I keep the Smart Key inside the car, and remove the physical key trying to lock the doors from outside (I do this to keep the car cool from inside because the heat in my country is scorching!)...what I found recently is that as I do this, only the driver door gets locked, and all the other doors are still unlocked...I don't know if this is a fault or standard....
There's no beep or flashing parking lights when I lock my doors on my 2011 Prius 2 when using the remote or the door handle sensor. I still get the 2 beeps/light flashes when I unlock. The lock beep was working fine and then just stopped. The doors still lock fine with the remote or handle sensor, just no beep/flash.
View 4 RepliesPast cars have always had a change oil warning system. Usually there's a button under the hood or a certain sequence of pressing the brake to "reset" the oil life monitor. Does the Elantra have any such thing. I didn't see anything about it in the manual.
View 22 RepliesMy 2013 Elantra twice now has almost overheated. About a month ago i had the software patch related to the cooling fan done. Since then, twice the temp almost hit max and the warning light came on. Both times i had driven it in 80 degree weather with 3 short trips to various stores. Both times the air conditioning seemed to stop working and the gauge started to rise to max. The second time i turned off the car and restarted it and everything returned to normal. If it happens again i will check to see if the cooling fan is on. It seems to me that turning it off and on to fix would be a software glitch. The car has 30000 miles on it.
View 5 RepliesI am just wondering how much mileage is left when the low gas warning light comes on? For my 2015 Elantra, the light comes on when the computer says there's about 100km left, but I don't know how accurate that is. I do keep track of my fuel economy, so it's simple match if I know how much gas is left in the tank. My owner's manual says the car has a 48 litre gas tank. When the warning light comes on and I fill it up at the gas station, it usually fills 39-40 litres before the "click". That would mean there's still 8-9 litres left before filling up. But is there actually 48 litres in the car at the "click" or is 48 litres just the complete maximum and the "click" comes on before that (e.g. a full tank is really only 45 litres compared to the stated 48)? What's the furthest you've driven with the low gas warning light on?

View 48 RepliesTPMS warning light is sometimes on, sometimes flashes, sometimes off. Only 2800 miles. Checked your pressures @ 38 psi. Have had no tire issues, nails. Etc. Took to dealer today. Service advisor said too much air in tires. Lowered to 35 psi. I have doubts about their"fix". Time will tell.
View 17 RepliesStrange thing happened yesterday. After changing my oil as I left my friends house I had a couple weird indicator lights. ABS warning, the yellow indicator next to that ((!)) and the traction control light were all lit and solid. Brakes felt a little unusual. Less sensitive than normal but working fine....
I pulled out of his driveway, then went about 20 feet and pulled over. Shut the car completely off, turned it back on and all was normal.
The exclamation indicator was not lit nor Check engine and no messages were displayed. No beeping . It's almost like I had the car in some kind of brake test mode or something.
Here's what I did before I left his house:
While on jack stands I changed my oil. While it was still up on jacks I turned on the car to run the engine for a moment. (I put it in neutral to let it run for about 1 minute.) No leaks .. buttoned up the car, put it back on the ground. Filled oil to the top line and ran the engine again for maybe 30 seconds. Everything normal. Then I had it in "ON" mode while I checked my tire air pressure. (I had a warning indicator about that.) Once I had tires correct I put the car in ready mode. All indicators off and normal. Shut off car then had it in accessory for a little while. (Listening to radio) It was after this I left his house..... So I definitely cycled the car on and off several times.
Bought a 2010 lexus rx450h with 45k miles. Last night on my way back to home suddenly its front lights went off without any warning. Instrument panel was illuminated but no lights even the indicators and head light dippers , front fog tights were not working. Few buttons on panel like tail gate, height control were also not illuminated.
I stopped the car and after 10-15 minutes of fiddling around. Switched on and off the car a couple of times. Its lights came back. Now im a bit worried what caused this sudden black out. What should i check so as to get this thing not happening again.
All my dashboard warning lights are on in my car and won't turn off ( as shown in pix ) every time I start my car. I wonder what's wrong with my car ?
View 5 RepliesAbout three weeks ago while driving my Prius and accelerating the car jerked suddenly and warning lights came on. I was able to read the above codes with tech stream. The car still drives but has limited horsepower. The engine also does not seem to rev down like a normal hybrid. I have not had good experiences with the local Toyota dealer.
View 13 RepliesI drive my 2005 Prius 40+ miles each way for my commute. I bought it in the fall of 2007 with 56k miles already on it, and with my commute I'm up to 140,000 miles already.
This morning I was about 5 minutes from work, cruise control on, and deeply absorbed in listening to a podcast. I was startled out of my reverie by several things happening simultaneously. The car beeped, the cruise control kicked off, and multiple warning lights lit up on the dash, with a warning icon of some kind also on my MFD.
(Once stopped, I looked up the warning lights. They were: Master warning light; Check engine light, or "malfunction indicator lamp", according to the manual; YELLOW Brake system warning; VSC warning light. On the MFD, the Hybrid System Warning Light was on.)
I was on the highway doing about 70 and I had just crested a hill, so I allowed the car to coast on the downside while trying to access the situation. I cautiously pressed the accelerator, and though the road noise made it impossible to hear the engine, the car seemed to still be driving normally. The Energy Monitor still showed normal flows between battery, engine, and wheels. I had one final, short uphill climb before my freeway exit, so I chanced it. I took it easy and allowed my speed to decrease on the uphill so as not to push too hard, just in case. Once off the freeway, most of the remaining mile is downhill or flat - I can often make it to the office without the engine, and in fact I did so this morning.
Once at the office, I put the car into Park and grabbed the manual so I could identify all the warning lights before powering off the car. I turned off the Prius, let it sit for 5-10 seconds, and powered it back on. The brake system warning and VSC lights did not come back on - only the master warning light, and "check engine" lights reappeared, and "Problem" on the MFD was again replaced by the Hybrid System Warning icon. After the usual 10 seconds, the engine started normally and responded to the accelerator.
One additional note: After the freeway exit, my car is usually at 1 green bar or just below on the hybrid battery. Immediately following the freeway exit is a steep downhill that usually puts the SOC to completely full. That was the case again today, and as often happens, that full charge was able to take me the rest of the relatively flat, distance to the office at my usual 25-35 mph. I mention this because whatever might be setting off the warnings, the Prius still seems to be managing the charge level normally; at least in the admittedly short period I was able to observe it after this occurred.
We've got a 2011 Prius with a little over 24k miles on it . For the last few months we've been having issues with it starting. First I thought the remote barriers were dying so I replaced them , I thought my wife might have been trying to start it incorrectly till the problem happened to me a few weeks ago. What happens is you try to start it (foot on brake, press power button) and all the warming lights pop up , radio turns on , navigation turns on but car doesn't start. This morning it happend just once , yesterday I had to try it maybe 10x before it finally started up. The dealership had it last Saturday and of course it started every time for them and they couldn't duplicate the problem , they also said they ran whatever tests they do on it and it didn't turn up a problem. FWIW we had the software recall update done in June.

I tested it after I finished putting it all back and It works fine. I waited for the sun goes down and test it on the road. while driving my fog lights just stops running and there is no green light on my dashboard.
View 3 RepliesWe were driving 2015 450h with 2200 miles on a slight downhill grade about 50 mph. Suddenly ABS warning light, master warning light, and audible warning activated. The center console "Brake" illuminated and the information center displayed "check hybrid system".
My wife attempted to pull the car off the road in a controlled manner but even slightly touching the brakes caused them to pulse, braking hard and then releasing. She finally got the car to the side of the road and shut the engine off. I then got into the drivers seat and turned the car on. The messages remained. Tried on an off, still the same. Tried brakes, the seemed functional. Since we were in a location that did not have cell service and it was an unsafe location to leave the car managed to drive it into nearest town.
Turned the car on and off about 10 times over the period of an hour. Without explanation, the car started with no warning messages. Dove the car another 200 miles since and it has now been at he dealer for over a day with no word.
I did see where a few RX350 models had reported a similar problem, but no 450h's. At the time of the incident we were not using the PCS system (off) . I am wondering about that as well since the ABS might be tied into the PCS?
Started my 2010 Prius the other day and the traction control, brake light, abs light and a yellow Astrix light came on and wouldn't go off. The car drives and handles just fine, brakes feel normal. I have tried resetting the lights with a trick with a paper clip someone else posted, but it didn't work for me.
