View 33 RepliesHow do you remove the shift knob in a 2013 Elantra GLS? I didn't see a pin or anything.

The existing manuals do not work, they show a knob previous to this one and don't apply.
Hyundai Elantra: Console. Repair procedures - Interior - Body (Interior and Exterior) - Hyundai Elantra MD 2010-2016 Service manual
Shows an earlier one and I can't find any other info.
I have a 2014 GTI 6MT, and am trying to figure out if, when I got the car 3 months ago new, the shift knob was loose, or tight. Right now, I just noticed it has the lateral rotation (left/right) maybe 1/8" or so. Just can't remember when I got it, if I noticed that.
Shift knob had lateral rotation when you got your car, or shortly thereafter?
Is there a way to shut this feature off. I don't need to be told when I have to shift or down shift. I thought the manual tranny E's had the ECO button which would turn this feature off, but there's no button.

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to swap out the shift boot of my 2004 (B5.5) Passat 1.8T 4Motion and running into trouble. According to the instructions from the new Red Line shift boot, I should be able to separate the two collars that hold the boot to the knob. However, the white post that's part of the knob assembly has a piece that's bigger than the lower black collar, preventing it from being removed. Is there something I'm missing? How can I remove the boot without damaging the existing knob assembly?

View 3 RepliesOk so my transmission feels loose, too much play between the coast and drive side of the gears. Makes enough noise now that my wife complained about it so I'm looking into taking it to the dealer. I pretty much expect them to pass this off and do nothing, but its getting worse especially in the last couple of months.
Noticed a lot of play in there gearbox? Can you hear the gears make noise as they shift from coast to drive side?
Do the cover on the stock knob can be taken apart, smoked, and put back together?
View 6 RepliesMy car is 2012 Elantra. I want to remove the fan control knob. It was easy to pull Mode and Dual buttons straight out. But I don't know how to get the fan control knob off.
View 3 RepliesWhen first drove the new Elantra, I stalled it more than should. At first I figured I was just new to the feel of the clutch, and not in tune with the hints of RPM given by the motor's sound, etc.
A couple of times after stalling, I pulled the shifter to a middle neutral, and then back in 1st, and now it really felt like it was in 1st. Eventually, I developed a quirky habit of shifting out of 1st to neutral and back to 1st every time I stopped. My kids commented on it and they don't even drive.
A couple of times I've cautiously done this test, and it proved my suspicion. Suppose you are coasting at a speed of around 40 mph or 60 kph, and intend to come to a stop ahead. I typically push the clutch in and coast, then brake. Somewhere along the coast to stop, I will also put the gear into 1st. I've discovered that if the gear shift is put into 1st while the coast speed is sufficiently high, the actual gear selected is 3rd. Then, when you start to pull away from the stop, the engine stalls.
If anyone tries to reproduce this shift into 3rd when 1st was intended while still coasting, be careful and let out the clutch slowly at the early part of the release so you will get a hint from the engine RPMs what gear it is heading toward. I don't want to be responsible for wear and tear on your transmission/engine or accidents. I've only attempted this test on a road with no traffic, myself.
Although what I am claiming sounds wacky, I think it is possible, given that transmissions over the years have been moving towards electronic rather than physical linkage.
This lady at work has a 2011(?) Elantra sedan and she said she complained about her manual trans. not being smooth. She said the Hyundai mechanic adjusted something in the clutch and her transmission became smooth again. What part needs to be adjusted? She doesn't know and I would definitely like to know because I know it is not normal.
View 4 RepliesI've been working on a cruise control issue on & off for about a year now. Vehicle is a 2011 UD Elantra with a 6 speed manual trans. Problem is cruise won't set in 6th gear. Works perfectly in 2nd through 5th gears.
Cruise power light stays on but won't set. Upshift indicator working correctly. I've had Hyundai field service engineers look at it 3 times with no luck. Vehicle has no fault codes at all. All switch & sensor inputs are correct. The only vehicle I had with a man. trans. to compare to was a 2013 MD. Cruise worked fine in 6th on that vehicle. The last word we got from Hyundai (supposedly from Korea), was that this is normal and cruise on that model is not supported in 6th gear. I find this hard to believe but I wouldn't doubt this is a programming issue. 6th gear should be the most used gear for cruise operation.
I need to remove the cv axle from the hub so I can replace the washer (I have the clicking noise). Its a 2013 Elantra. Wondering the steps so I don't remove anything I don't need to. Also I am guessing the washer goes on the inside of the bearing as opposed to between the bearing and nut?
View 8 RepliesSo I tried removing my rear deck but was unsuccessful. I removed 4 "screws" when folding the seats then the ones inside the trunk but it didn't come off. Did I miss anything that is holding it down?
View 4 RepliesIs there any trick to removing the rear seat bottom, or do I just need to pull each side up with enough force until it pops out? If I get my hand under the edge of the seat there seems to be a decent amount of give to it, but I don't want to break anything...

View 20 RepliesI have a '98 F150 front 60/40 seat going into a '77 shortbox F100. I've searched and found a lot of info on repairing a lumbar support but nobody seems to mention how to get the stupid off. I don't want to break anything but I can't see any screws or clips. Does it just pull off with force?
View 1 RepliesFirst the wife crushes the underbody on a huge rock cutting a corner. Now she spilled a whole pop down the shift lever, and its glued shut - it will hardly move. I know how to get the console off, but How do I take just the 'shift knob' off? I need to get the flexible piece underneath it off so we can wash all the parts.. I have the upper console part off.
