View 25 RepliesI have a noise problem on my dashboard ( or i hear like that) There is a sound which is really annoying when i accelerate especially on rough road.
Noise comes from dashboard in my Hyundai Elantra - YouTube
So I have a hissing sound (kind of what the vacuum cleaner makes when air path is obstructed with debris) coming from passenger side foot area. The easiest way to hear it is to turn on HVAC and put the fan on the lowest setting so the sound of the fan does not interfere with the noise.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 Elantra and I have been having problems accelerating in the last couple of months. Took it to a mechanic and they said it's definitely my transmission. I am at 51,118 miles and so I am still under warranty. The Hyundai dealership said the transmission needs to be completely replaced. How does this happen to a car that isn't that old and doesn't have many miles on it? A factory defect?
The dealership, being a dealership tried to get me to do a bunch of other stuff to my car and I wanted to ask all of you about one of them. They said my battery is going to die soon. I guess it's at 236 (amps?) and should be at 550 (according to the dealership, that's where it should be). Is that right? I don't know enough about cars to know whether this is right and don't tend to trust dealerships.
So anytime I accelerate out of the 'Eco' mode, the car is very rough and loud! 2011 Elantra GLS. Stock. Haven't had it to the dealer yet to discuss. 24,000km. Other than that it's fine.
View 3 RepliesI started to realize something very weird in my car. While in drive from a stop I would accelerate and the car doesn't seem to shift up when its suppose too. I know that my car shifts around 2.1k RPM smoothly into second gear but now it would go all the way up to 3K RPM and slams into second gear which is really weird. Sometimes it does this problem and sometimes it doesn't. I would say 70% it would slam into gear. Not only does it slam but it would seem like this car does not want to shift at the proper rpm even when i foot is on the gas pedal very lightly.
Once I got home I tried some stop and goes and see if the problem persist. It still did. Then I tried doing shiftronic and from first gear once the line touches 2k RPM i shift up and yet it would still lag and the needle would go up to 3K RPM once again. This seems like a very bad problem especially MPG wise. I am still under warranty, I think because I've only swap the air filter with a drop in K&N and just plasti dipped my wheels and such.
2011 Elantra 86k ... Ever since I bought my car in 2013 I noticed when I would accelerate on the freeway, my battery light would flick on for a second, then go away when I would let off the pedal. Not every time, though which made me not think much of it. well recently my car would die if I left it sitting for a day. I assumed it was the battery so I got a new one. everything was fine until I woke up one morning and my car was dead again. so I looked up my problem online and nearly everywhere said it was probably because of a bad alternator, which also explained why the battery light would come on when I accelerated. so I took it to a mechanic and he tested it and said it was testing low. So 425 dollars later it was fixed. Haven't seen the battery light come on when I accelerate anymore.
This morning around 6am my neighbor texted me and said my tail lights and head lights were on. this is impossible because we had been out front last night and we would have noticed this then and I didn't drive anywhere else after that. Why would my lights be coming on by themselves? I've already spent 180 on a new battery and 425 on a new alternator and this whole time it was because my lights had been turning on by themselves??
I bought this used Camry 2010 LE 4 Cylinder with 38k miles on it. Right now I have 42k miles on it.
The issue I have is whenever I turn off the engine and then turn it on. The moment I put it on drive and accelerate I hear a clapping sound. It sounds like clap noise when I just turn on the engine and accelerate. It only makes that noise when i start the engine and accelerate and after that the sound is gone
When I leave the car overnight, and drive it the next morning. The sound is louder with a clap sound right after i accelerate. It happens every time i turn off the engine and turn on and drive but it doesn't sound as loud when i leave it for overnight. It still makes the sound but not as loud.
Sometimes you feel it clap on your foot when you accelerate.
So when I bought one of my cars used I noticed a plastic rattle coming from the dash. Removed the dash sprayed some silicone and sealed with rubber and that fixed it. maybe 2 weeks ago another very annoying rattle developed which you can hear when the ICE start and you accelerate...and now you can hear it even when you are cruising on the hwy. I thought it is from the dash again but you will see that even without the dash it is still there.
View 13 RepliesMy 2010 Corolla LE with 1.8L engine with auto transmission has about 37,400 miles on it. Ever since I bought it with 7k miles I notice a slight knock/ping sound when I accelerate up to 40 mph. The car is certified up to 100k.
Also, on cold starts recently, it seems to make a loud noise. Hard to describe but it's almost like something is grinding for a second or two. This does not seem to happen all the time.
My wife just recently rear-ended a truck with a nice big hitch in her 2006 elantra. The aftermath was a hissing noise and no functioning a/c. I took apart a very bent front bumper, and discovered that the condenser was punctured and had spewed oil all over the place. I have a question regarding how I will recharge the system after I install a new condenser.
1. Can I just simply add new refrigerant after I install the condenser?
2. Do I need to be concerned about replacing the refrigerant oil? If so, how do I do this? Do I need to drain the existing oil? If so, how?
I have never recharged an a/c system after "cracking" open the sealed system, and I didn't even realize that an a/c system had oil in it until i saw it spewing out of the condenser.
I own a 2002 Elantra with 75000 miles.
This just happened recently this winter. After a cold startup I hear a constant hissing noise (for lack of better word) coming from under the hood for about 5 minutes .
This is NOT the kind of sharp noise that you would hear from a loose power steering belt but it is definitely coming from that area (towards the passenger side close to power steering belt/alternator), though I could not pinpoint the exact location.
Everything seems to be working fine and after about 5 minutes it goes away. I am not missing any fluids and don't experience any other symptoms.
My elantra has around 7000 miles on the odometer. I have noticed for a while that after sitting for a few hours or over night the engine has a ticking sound to it. The noise will last for a few minutes then goes away. I figured that the cold weather might have been the cause. Not it is almost summer and the noise is continuing. Im not sure if this is normal for these engines. but any other car i have had has not had an extended tick at startup.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2012 Hyundai Elantra with approximately 57k miles on it. Today my car started what sounds like a grinding noise when turned on. From a cold start it made no noise but, started when driving. I then stopped and the noise continued. When I drove away after stopping the noise amplified with the acceleration and I thought I smelled burning rubber. My best guess would be bad bearing and the belts burning?
View 13 RepliesMy rear right speaker buzzes when sound comes out...I thought it happened mainly in cold weather but I think it may be due to the fact that the door keeps closing and opening...
View 7 RepliesIt's a 2012 Elantra that I got in June of last year. So warranty or anything isn't an issue.
This morning upon making sharper turns, I hear a sloshing sound of sorts coming from the passenger side of the dash. I've read that this might be a condenser issue, or something with the drainage and the AC. I'm not really sure. Before I take it over to Hyundai, I want to give it the chance to dry out or whatever if it is just some rain.
It's not leaking in the car or anything, I can just hear it.
I have a 2013 Elantra Limited. I notice that when going over bumps, the front of my car kind of makes a creaking noise. It almost sounds like you are walking on an old wooden floor.
View 17 RepliesI have a 2015 Elantra GL. These past couple weeks I have noticed the following:
1) After a long drive, there is a sort of "knocking" sound at the back of my car. It's not too loud but still noticeable. It seems to go back and forth from left to right to left to right, etc.
2) The sound ONLY appears at low speed (under 30km/hr or 20mph) AND when the ride gets a little bumpy (i.e. when I drive over the bump to get into my driveway). It doesn't take a big bump, just a little.
3) The sound ONLY appear after a long drive. When I start driving to work starting on my local roads at low speed over some bumps, there is no sound. But once I reach my work parking lot and I'm driving slowly and there's some minor bumps, I hear the sound. After work when I'm in the same parking lot going at the same low speed over the same bumps, there is no sound. Once I reach home and driving slowly over local road and over driveway bump, the sound appears.
The car is only at 5000km right now. I haven't gotten an oil change yet or any servicing on the car whatsoever. I will be bringing my car into the dealer for it's first oil change in a couple weeks and will ask them about the sound there. To summarize, the sound only appears once I've driven it for awhile (it never happens at start of drive) and if it's going low speed and if it gets slightly bumpy.
I noticed that every time I hit my brakes, I heard a clicking sound and a little bit feel at my shifter lever. I found same issues on the Sonata forums but I just wanted to know if we elantra users had the same problems like me. Its annoying & I don't find it normal. What can be done ????
View 3 Replies I have about 26,500 miles on my 2012 elantra and recently went on a trip. While I was there I noticed that if I go over bumps at an angle then the front end makes a crunching sound!!??
For example, when I was turning into a parking lot the parking lot sloped downward and I drove in at an angle and this crunching sound happened. I didn't scrape the front end or anything and it's happened several other times. It sounds like a shock or strut problem.
I just noticed this ever since it started to warm up outside. Usually between 4-6 ticks (the lights that light up when you change the power), the whistling is the loudest. It's a very annoying noise and I can't pinpoint the issue. I was thinking it was maybe just some air turbulence within the vent, but even when I put the air to go on the floor only, I still hear it. Wondering if it's something worth taking my car in for. My gf and mom heard the noise as well, so I'm not going crazy. I also compared the air conditioning to my gf's Elantra GT an hers was completely quiet, with no whistling noise. Have this whistling noise with their air conditioning on? It's not really "loud", but it's clearly there. Really is noticeable when I switch between power levels of the air condition.
