I just got into my 2012 GLS Elantra and tried firing it up, and the engine will turn over, but wont start. Power windows, radio, lights, everything works. Earlier in the day, I moved the car from the garage to the driveway and turned it off about 30 seconds after I turned it on..
I've read things from checking the sparks to the fuel pump..is it possible that it could be flooded? I am leaving it alone right now and I plan to try to fire it up in an hour or so with the accelerator fully pressed down in case this is the case, hopefully that does the trick..
I recently purchased a 2011 hyundai elantra and i bought a aftermarket navigation. I connected everything how it should be (i think) and the navigation screen would not turn on but the buttons work and volume and everything else but the screen wouldnt turn on. I took it to a mechanic and he told me it was this strip that was burned. But it was working before he messed with it now the radio doesn't sound. Nothing works. Im trying to find the name of this part so i can buy a replacement.
View 3 RepliesI find if i jump in the car and turn the key quickly to start it sputters but doesn't turn over. When i try again a second time its always ok.
Happens a lot after i fill my tank, seems to never give issues if i turn the key to the on position and give it a couple seconds till i start it.
I have an injen cold air intake, and magnaflow muffler don't know if those would contribute to the problem? Should i take it to hyundai and let them take a look.
I also notice when i start my car the rpm jumps to 2000 and then drops down, i run synthetic oil and Hyundai filters.
I was changing my lights to led.. i finished the two lights in the passenger and the driver side and it worked... then I change the light in the vanity mirror, driver side to led but it doesn't turn on.. i switch the led to reverse side.. nothing happen.. I put back the old bulbs still wont turn on... then I tried to open the the two lights.. now they are not working... even the dome lights..

I do a lot of night driving and have learned to live with the dimmer all the way down, though my personal preference is to have it just a little dimmer. My commute makes traffic unpredictable, so I often get to work early (better than too late!), so I like to nap a little in the car until time to drag myself in to the office. When my headlights are off and I'm parked, the dash lights are WAY bright. Is there a way to turn them off, and also have the headlights off too? I need the headlights off (and the silly parking lights that stay on till you set the parking brake). So, simply stated, is there a way to turn everything all the way off while the engine (and heater) stay running?

This also occurs when I turn on the AC. What might be causing this?
Is there a pan or something that needs to be cleaned? There is a fresh Cabin filter installed.
I made the conversion of the regular bulbs to led ( stops, position, turn signals ) but I have fast blinking in turn signals. I know that the led has fewer electric resistance than the regular bulbs so the car takes this like a damaged bulb.
I know two possibilities:
1- A resistance for each one of the led to confuse the system.
2 - Changing the electronic relay
I don't know which one is better. I need a resistance for each bulb? which relay is the appropriate one for this car (there's a lot of references on the internet and I can't find the relay in the hood's car).
I guess this feature is standard in newer cars, but how to turn off that annoying beeper for seat belts and keys in the ignition? Perhaps there's a wire that can be cut.
After all, I know enough to buckle my seat belt and feel uncomfortable and unsafe if I do not. I don't need to be beeped at to remind me. Plus, I know when I leave the keys in the ignition and exit the car.
My daughter called me from a gas station where the steering wheel, on her 2012 Elantra,Limited, locked into place and the ignition key wouldn't turn.
I told her that my Sante Fe does this occasionally and I just wiggle the steering wheel a bit until the key freely turns.
She said she tried wiggling the steering wheel several times, before calling me. After some more wiggling, while she was talking to me, she got the key to turn ....
She has owned the car for about 1- 1/2 years and this is the first time it has happened.
Since Sunday I lowered my car on SCALE coilovers and today my car started to make a "clac" sound when I turn the wheels. It can be heard either I'm on idle or driving but only while I'm turning the wheels.
What's it can be? Axle maybe? Have I missed something when I dropped the car? Is there any specification that should have been respected and that I didn't?
She called me to inform me that ABS and ESC lights came on and the steering was very loose. I told her to shut off the car and restart to see if it made a difference. She did and now the EPS light has come on along with the other two and she said the steering has now become stiff (power steering it seems). I will be hooking up my OBDII to see if I find any fault codes?
No buttons were pressed by the way. Everything has been working fine for the last 6 months. Only had to bring it in for an unrelated issue recently.
How can I turn off the day time running lights on the car? I turned the light switch to the off button but it still turns on when I drive. How do I go about to turn this off?
View 171 RepliesRecently purchased a 2016 Elantra. All was working well with car. Now, all of a sudden, when I turn on car via remote start the heater isnt coming on like it did before. It wont turn on until I put key in ignition. I had to get a new remote recently and seems like thats when it started to happen, but I cant be sure. Is it possible the remote was programmed incorrectly? Or is it more likely a fuse or relay issue?

View 26 RepliesSo I've wanted to post this here for awhile now but kept forgetting. I assume this is how all the Elantras are but I wanted to know for sure. So basically when people in the back seats turn on their seat warmers, and the car gets turned off. They turn back on automatically when the car is turned on. I guess because it's a push button and the button is still engaged when car is turned on again. What a dumb design! I do try and remind my passengers to kindly turn them off, but they often times forget, including myself. I'm just afraid the seat warmers are gonna wear out quicker if they get left on and I don't realize till a certain amount of time later. So is the case for everyone? Just don't understand the design behind it when the front seats turn off automatically but not the back. Wish there was a way to change this.
View 9 RepliesWe had some unusually warm weather and a lot of rain. After work I was driving home in my 2012 elantra limited and stalled in some flash flood water. This was not deep enough to come into the car. When I hit the water the splash went in the intake and I stalled out. I pushed the car out of the water, waited a few and tried to start it. I have the push button ignition so it clicked 3 times and did not turn the motor over. I then saw and smelled electrical smoke. All my lights, radio, windows everything work. I fried the starter which I determined by removing and having it tested. I ordered a new one from the dealer.
I took the intake apart and removed as much water as I could. I ran the shop heater all night to dry up whatever water in the motor bay that I could. Then a couple weeks passed waiting on the starter to come in. It's gotten cold and I'd imagine whatever water may be in it froze. The day I got the starter I ran the shop heater again 12+ hours and drained the oil out. No real water to speak of. I also removed the plugs and attempted to turn the motor by hand via the crank and I can only get about a quarter turn in either direction. When I put the new starter in it does the same. Cranks the motor a split second and seizes. Is there something I'm missing? How could I have tied up the motor from a water accident? Is there something else electrical I may have ruined that would prevent the motor from turning freely?
I have had noise problem under dash or wherever it may be. I am not sure where the exact location because I can't pinpoint it out. I hear the noise whenever I turn on A/C or blower for windshield. Basically, anything which is related to air will make noise. It's like water striping noise. Something like cold water drops on hot metal. You can hear the noise at night clearly but during the day, it is hard to hear but still is hearable. Besides that, the car is quite. The Hyundai service has changed my blower but the noise is still there. The service man said it was hard for them to know what caused the noise but they had no clue right now.
View 8 RepliesAbout 95% of the time our 2012 Elantra runs great. But then 5% of the time, it hits us with this intermittent starting problem. It will crank but just won't turn over. It really feels like it's just not getting any fuel. This has happened intermittently for the past 2 years. Every time we take it in, the dealer can't replicate the problem. It starts right up for them. The car will behave well for a while but then inevitably, it acts up again - usually at 6:30am when we need to get to the hospital for work.

It's not the shift interlock - it wouldn't even crank if it were that.
Problem accrued since the 2012, after I installed OEM HID headlights. Everything was fine for a month or so, then I found out the left parking/turn lamp isn't working. I checked the bulb and it was OK, however I replaced it for a new one. However it didn't work. So I replaced left bulb from right side and vs versa. Didn't work. Then I replaced headlights on KDM aftermarket one with LED DRL and everything repeats...
However when I put back the halogen headlights, that problem disappeared, looks nothing happened. Now I want to put back my OEM HIDs, but expecting same problem again...what it can be?.
Dealer doesn't know anything, already I have asked him, they just put again a new bulb and thats it. Where and what should I look at first...
I currently installed my HID's and I saw that I needed to have a relay for them so I made sure I bought that too. They work but when I turn on the car sometimes the left headlight won't turn on I have to turn them off and on in order for it to turn on. The relay is connected straight to the battery so I don't see why it won't turn on. I heard of some diy capacitors but didn't see the link on those old threads.
