Having bought my Elantra just a few days ago. One minor annoyance however - on the dash next to the clock is a very bright, and very orange "Passenger Airbag Off" light. I commute by myself, so this is constantly on, and is pretty jarring vs. the muted and otherwise blue dashboard lights. Is there any way to disable this notification?

View 13 RepliesAirbag light / sign come on/off frequently from some days. Regardless the car is moving or parked, seat belts on or not. It comes on then after a while or minutes go off, then back on after a while/time.
I have no accidents, no body repair as well as no mechanical or electrical issues. Except the rear PDC (i don't have front one) not giving me sound/function since some months and I don't care about it.
It's Elantra 2012 1.8 litters, with 84k kms on board.
How to disable the seat belt warning sound and or the passenger side airbag warning sound?
View 7 RepliesWhen my son, who is 83lbs rides in the passenger seat, the airbag OFF light comes on. This behavior does not seem to be consistent. Does seat position have anything to do with this? Is his weight too low to trigger the sensor? Or is it something to refer to the dealer? This query is for a 2013 RX350 with about 1,700 miles on it.
View 2 RepliesA few weeks ago, a relative was riding in the front passenger seat and asked me why the light said "passenger airbag off." I had seen that on before and didn't think anything more about it as I rarely have a passenger. Called Toyota to login the problem as I was traveling that week and thought I would be out of warranty before I could get it to the dealer. That particular light was on for some days afterwards and then I forgot about it. Tonight I noticed that "passenger airbag off" is not lit, but there is a light saying "airbag off."
I turned the car on and sat in the passenger seat, and the light that came on for my aunt didn't come on. Just "airbag off."
Every time I start the truck, the Passenger Side Airbag light is on, which is saying the airbag is turned "OFF." I have to push the button to turn the light off, which turns the airbag "ON." How do I reset this to where the airbag is "ON" until I turn it "OFF?"
View 8 RepliesI'm doing a project with my headlights & wanted to disable my dtrls so I can wire my led's to the parking light's so they are on when the parking lights are turned on, these will be on during the day with the parking lights. So it's not like I'm not going to have no DTRL 's the led idea I'm doing will be plenty bright to use as visible dtl's, I hate the old dull yellowish colour so can't wait to get this done so I don't have to always turn on my hids to hide the yellow!

View 11 RepliesI just had my oil changed today and while driving home the red airbag light came on in the instrument cluster and the passenger airbag light on the dash started flashing. When I connected the passenger seatbelt the flashing light went off. While in the dealer also tightened some screws in the center console. I have an under the seat subwoofer that is VERY snug...could that have damaged something when the seat was slid back?

And today I noticed when I was driving the car by myself the passenger seatbelt light was blinking and the passenger airbag light off bag wasn't lit? Even though there was no one in the passenger seat? I'm just wondering if there was ever a recall and if I should take it to the dealership.
View 1 RepliesWe have a new 2010 Subaru Outback and all is well except an issue with the passenger airbag. It cycles ON -OFF - ON - OFF - - - while driving. The Subaru dealer has checked it twice & says it is properly operating. We contacted Subaru, they contacted the dealer and responded, per dealer it is OK. The cycling makes us uncomfortable with the saftey of the system. She weighs right at 100 Lbs, if we hit a bump in the road the airbag status changes, if she shifts her position in the seat the status changes, it may change without any outside influence, etc. If it would maintain it's status it would seem more reliable.
View 4 RepliesI bought a used 2010 f-150. the passenger air bag cover has a small rip in it. I want to replace it & it looks like a separate part on the parts blow up. i do all my own work & was wondering if i can replace it without screwing with the air bag.
View 1 RepliesI just did TSB036-07 on my 07 I4 for the sluggish problem. It turns out very good. Now I got another problem right after that fix, the "Passenger Airbag Off" light is always on even with an adult (over 150 lb) sitting there. I suspect they touched some wires during the TSB service. I will certainly take it back to the dealer and report it back to you. Searching the forum, I saw one reported that the ECU has to be replaced to fix it.
View 5 RepliesI received an Air bag Fault and Parking Break Fault yesterday when I started the car. Found my (drivers) belt latch sensor wiring was buggered so I fixed that. I don't know if that was the technical name for it, but it was the wiring from the receiving latch to the connector. The parking break fault went away so my guess is that short pissed it off. But who knows, it could be unrelated.
However, the air bag fault will not go away. I thought by fixing that it would vanish, but I guess not.
I have found that the light goes out for a moment and then reappears when the "passenger air bag off" light comes on. The other day, it thought my wife was still in the seat after she got out so I'm guessing the passenger seat wiring is the culprit.
I don't have a VAG-COM so the above detail is all I have. I really don't want to go to the dealer, but do I have a choice?
The Passenger Airbag Off light is always on no matter if the passenger seat is empty or has someone sitting in it. It magically went away for a year and worked perfectly and now it came back to haunt me. I tried pulling all connections to the seat and cleaning them with an electrical cleaner, but the light is still on. What else can cause Airbag Off light to turn on?
View 1 RepliesOn our 2005 V8, we had an airbag fault message come up, and the "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" light lit up. We had the code cleared, and everything has been fine. Is there any way to prevent this light coming on? Our mechanic said that it can be caused by taking your safety belt off before the vehicle is stopped, but I wanted to know if there is any other causes of this fault. We have decided to not move the passenger seat at all, just in case there is a wire broken or a loose connection.

View 7 RepliesQuick question about the air bag light function for the passenger seat. When no one is sitting in the seat it does not display "on" or "off" by the clock. When I sit in the seat it displays "on" Shouldn't the light always display "off" if no one or someone too light is sitting in the seat? Is this normal, or is there something wrong with the sensors in the seat?
