So my cruise is giving me issues, won't set the speed. Turns on and off no problem but set and resume do not work. However, turn off the car and then re-start it and the cruise works again. I know the radio is only up to 60k.

View 20 RepliesOk, today on my way to work, I got up to speed and turned on the cruise control. It worked fine. I then stopped on my way to work to get a bottle of water. I got up to speed and went to hit Set. Nothing would happen. I ended up getting off at the next exit and turn off the car completely. Restarted the car and got back on the interstate. Got up to speed, turned on the cruise and hit Set. It worked. On my way home, no problems. It was just strange.

View 7 RepliesHave cruise control randomly shut off? Mine does it maybe 1-2 times a week and I use it quite extensively. It pretty much only happens while on the highway. I know I'm not accidentally tapping the break, because it'll happen even when I have both feet away from the pedals.
View 30 RepliesEvery day I have to drive on highways and obviously I use the Cruise Control BUT sometimes it doesn't work. To make it work again, I have to stop , turn off the engine and then turn it on. After doing that, the cruise control works again... It is an intermittent problem. I have my car for 4 months and I have got this problem about 10 times. Am I the only one to have an intermittent problem with my cruise control ?

One of the features I really like over the '06 Prius is the ability of the cruise control to hold the set speed on downhills (until the battery fills up and it switches to compression braking "B" mode, but that's a different topic).
After taking it in for the 10K mile service, it no longer engages regenerative braking on downhills with cruise control set. This is on the same hills where previously it would hold speed.
Did Toyota do a software upgrade that disables this feature?
My cruise control disengages with a significant bump.
View 14 RepliesMy vehicle shows currently two awkward behaviors:
1) I can start the vehicle using the keyless start button without having to step on the brake pedal.
2) I can switch on cruise control. The green symbol appears, however, I cannot set a speed. The system simply seems to ignore that I press the set button.
My 2010 Subaru Outback recently surprised the hell out of me by simultaneously turning on the brake warning light, the traction control light, the check engine light and (just for a bonus!) disabled my cruise control while flashing the cruise control light. I pulled over, quickly surmising that all of those systems could not have failed at 70 MPH without instantaneous death to either me or the vehicle. Both apparently still being alive, I tried turning the car on an off to reset the lights. No go. Subaru was not going to miss this chance to get me to the dealership! (who I had avoided to this point!) As I was far away from home and the car being very healthy, it seemed, I decided to drive on. I proceeded to put a couple of hundred more miles on the car before I got back to town.
My car had 39,000 miles on it, 3,000 miles beyond the warranty end. I learned that I have an error code of P0171, "Fuel Trim Malfunction (Air/Fuel too lean)". So I guess I'm wondering about a few things...why would this sensor set off every light on my dashboard and disable my cruise control? Seems a bit overblown for running a bit lean. My gut tells me Subaru has a sensor/software problem they are not owning up to. I'm a big fan of conspiracy theories and this really smells like one...
Second, jeez, I'm only 3K miles over warranty, don't you think they'd cut me some slack. I mean I love my Subaru, or did anyway, until this happened. Now it's just another POS car that breaks for no apparent reason...
My cruise control will engage but not maintain set speed. It slowly loses KPH, 10 KPH every 30 seconds. What to look for?
View 6 RepliesThe cruise on my 2013 LS460 SWB RWD sucks big time! Both Dynamic and Normal cruise modes are WAY too sloppy in speed regulation. I was out today on a 55mph PSL two-lane with set speed of 59mph. On a long SLIGHT downhill, the indicated speed topped out at 70MPH!!!
BTW, tranny shifting was weird during this episode with a prolonged run at over 3k RPM. At any rate, that's 11mph over the set speed for the arithmetically challenged. So instead of tooling along at a maximum of 5 over the PSL as my 2007 LS would have done (set speed 59 + overspeed 2 = 61 indicated = 60 actual, so 5mph over PSL), I'm flying at 10mph over the PSL ripe for the picking by any county sheriff (and I saw THREE of them on that road, all with their radar on).
I figure my car's speed regulation (in both Dynamic and Normal cruise) is +11mph/-2mph for set speed of 59mph. That is crazy!
When I first got this car about 2 months ago, my current speed would be displayed in the MFD when the cruise control was set to on (not activated and in use). For some reason now that no longer happens and it just shows dashes. The only time the speed is displayed now is when I am actually using the cruise control. Is there a way to get that thing back to showing my present speed like it did before?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2006 santa fe with th 2.7. The tail lights light up both films on both sides when you turn the lights on. Now the cruise control will turn on but it won't set the speed. I changed the brake switch and i tried to put it in the same exact spot. The old one was not sticking or anything. Now I was told the switch might need reset or something. I looked everywhere for shorts and sealed them up. Checked all the fuses which all are good. So im not sure whats going on. Now when you press the brake the small fuse will burn out.

View 17 RepliesCruise control on, set at, say 65mph. I want to lower the speed to 60mph. Tap down... click-click-click-click-click and watch the set speed number drop to 60.... then pop right back up to 65 and the car accelerates back to faster set speed. This has happened more than once now.
View 18 RepliesI have a 4 cylinder manual transmission that the cruise control won't set. The light will come on it just won't set. I don't see any vacuum hoses and can't find any blown fuses. All the lights brakes, parking, and flashers seem to be working fine.
View 4 RepliesFor the 4th time now my cruise control doesn't come on (had the car almost 4 months, with 6500 miles). The main "cruise" light comes on, but when I hit the "set" button nothing happens.
All except one time I had to remove the key before it would work again. One time I kept trying the "set" button and it finally worked. It's so infrequent, they'll never be able to recreate at the dealership. Not sure if I should just try to report it for documentation purposes, so if it happens to be permanent after warrantee expires hopefully it will be covered.
Back in the day, cruise was controlled by vacuum pressure but I don't know if that's the case any longer.
The cruise control on my 2013 works as I expected.
However the cruise control on my 2016 Sonata does not.
When driving at highway speeds (65 to 70 mph) in cruise control and the shifter set on "D" (drive) the transmission will down shift to 4th speed whenever I go down hill.
This might be intentional as a way to keep the car from exceeding the set speed, but I have never heard of this and it would seem to place more wear an tear on the transmissions.
Do the down shifting is engineered in or if it is a service problem that I need to have addressed...
