Is there a procedure for changing the cabin air filter on the 2015 Hyundai Elantra SE cabin air filter? I can't find instructions in the owner's manual.

View 18 RepliesHow to replace the Cabin Air Filter in 2010 RX350? I read in here that you need to switch to the ReCirc mode but then how to remove the shelves in the glove compartment? I almost broke it another the day but still can't take it apart.
View 14 RepliesAfter replacing the cabin air filter I heard a loud noise from the fan area in the car. I rechecked the installation which was ok. I then reached down into the fan assembly, and there was the problem, some leaves had fallen into the fan when I removed the old filter. Took out the leaves , and all is well.
I replaced the OEM filter with a Fram Fresh Breeze filter which interesting enough only had half as many folds. I figure a big company like Fram must know what they are doing?
First Hyundai my 2014 Elantra SE. Love it to death. Used this forum to start doing my own car maintenance,
Changed the oil (using Hyundai OEM filter).
Cleaned the throttle body to stop the rough idle.
Chirpy fan getting replaced with new blower motor tonight so while I am in there:
And the reason for my post: Had a smell coming through the vents that just smells like rotten leaves. Changed the cabin air filter. Smell still there.
Where does the cabin air filter air intake go? I want to make sure there are no obstructions or smell inducing things living in this intake.
I guess my question is..Where does the air come in to the cabin from and where best can I make sure its unobstructed?
Where exactly the cabin air filter is located and how to replace it? I bought a filter, It came with an instruction sheet that says the filter is in the passenger side foot well. I pulled off the cover under the dash and the cover on the side of the dash, no filter.
The top of the inside of the glove compartment has an allen wrench on the top of the compartment, (what is that for?) It looks like there are some phillip screws on the top inside of the glove compartment, but I thought I'd seek advice before I tore the entire car apart!
I know the cabin or A/C air filter is to filter out pollutants, etc. like the ones in home A/C so you have more comfortable & cleaner air into the car.
But is it really necessary to have & replace or just a nice convenience (and thus extra hassle to maintain) in modern cars? I believe old cars 2 decades or more back didn't have these right?
Just asking this because
(1) I don't care that much about really clean air coming into car, and more importantly
(2) I just replaced the cabin air filter in my Suzuki Forenza. I didn't know it had one until I did some research. Manual didn't really point it out, and the dealer & mechanics never mentioned it whenever I brought in for service. So all this time, I think I've been using the original filter for 7 years (60k miles), or if not then at least half that (assuming dealership did their part to replace the filter at the right time for 30k or other interval service). The original filter mentions to inspect & replace as needed and using a dirty one can damage the blower or something like that.
So what's the worst that can happen if you just keep using same old cabin air filter and never replace it? Will it kill your heating & A/C system or parts of it? Or just really dirty air over time?
How do you replace a/c cabin filter on a 2009 Toyota Avalon Limited?
View 3 RepliesI know this has been covered many times before but I know how to remedy the problem. My question is that I have an 09 which is still under warranty, is replacing the cabin filter/charcoal filter due to bacterial odor covered under my bumper to bumper warranty? I found some posts where people said it was but I want to double check before i waste time that I don't have with the dealer since I've been really busy with school.
View 10 RepliesMy 04 Elantra GT hatch is my lifetime favorite car. Especially like the rear seats that fold flat. It has 104k miles, but I want to keep it going.
Day before yesterday the blower started making loud noises. I took car back to Pepboys who replaced the cabin air filter they put in a month ago. They had installed it incorrectly, and it shredded with a 6 inch hole in the middle, and paper everywhere. When I left, the fan was not making any unusual noises.
Yesterday I drove 20 minutes on freeway, stopped to shop, started driving, and turned on fan. Immediately the check light went on. Back to Pepboys, service manager said check was P0501 and was a transmission speed sensor that couldn't be related to the filter mess.
Last night I found the Hyundai forum and I read in a post that this is a wheel speed sensor that would be located in the right front wheel and well not far from the cabin filter. Is it possible that the debris from the fan/filter collision has affected this speed sensor? Or is this just a very untimely coincidence?
I know nothing about automobiles. What I should do next and thereafter? Is it safe to drive this car as usual until the problem is fixed?
I just recently replaced the cabin filter on my 2012 rx350 and now the A/C doesn't work. I checked under the hood and the compressor doesn't kick in. What caused it? Or should I take it to the dealership to have it checked out? It only has about 20,000 miles too..
View 6 RepliesI am having a problem in changing the cabin air filter in a 2011 RX450h. I can remove the shelve in the glove compartment, but can not remove the L shaped cover plate to the filter. What is the correct procedure to remove the cover plate without breaking it?
View 1 RepliesWhen I replaced the cabin air filter recently, I noticed the little latch loop on the left hand side bottom was broken. I just put it together and it does not rattle.
View 2 RepliesHow to seal my 2011 elantra sedan more efficiently? I feel like the AC works so hard just to stay somewhat cool. I have to keep it on Max all the time. My thoughts are, the cabin isn't sealed efficiently and has a lot of leakage points and air just flows out of cracks.
View 8 RepliesAbout a 2 weeks ago I took the 2011 in to Hyundai to get the oil changed. (For the record I brought my own oil and Bosch oil filter). Anyhow, yesterday, noticed a nice pool of oil under the car after the first stop on errands. Looked underneath, and sho' nuff, there was a good little stream of oil. Made a bee line to the same dealership to drop it off. On the way we could smell burning oil and it was running like crap.
The service dept is open on Sunday so they called to tell me it was just the filter, he said probably a "burr" ?? and it can happen. My questions are Why did it take two weeks to start and should I be worried more damage happened? Supposed to pick it up tomorrow so trying to be prepared.
I've never done it, not even sure where it is located.
View 11 RepliesSo, I just dropped a bit more money that I wanted to for an oil change at a drive-through place. The tech offered to replace my dirt cabin air filter. I figured that I could do it myself for much less (or even just tap the dirt out of my current one). How to access the filter, and how easy or difficult the process is?
View 17 RepliesI have already seen the post which shows a diagram from the B5. Exactly where the access is. In my car I open the glove box and there is another pull down compartment that holds the manual. Does this compartment need to be removed? If it does how do you do it. I dont see anything that looks like the diagram given.
View 3 RepliesSo I was looking around...I'd like to upgrade my headlights to Silverstars, PLUS change my amber turn signals out to white. Is this as easy as the 11-14's, or because I have different headlights, do I have to pull the entire assembly out?
View 9 RepliesJust purchased a 2012 Prius a few weeks ago. if cabin air filter preinstalled in the new cars?
View 19 RepliesMy cabin filter is getting pretty dirty. I have been looking around at the different types of filters and was wondering. Is there any advantage in replacing the normal paper pleated filter with one that is lined with charcoal? What do you think of filter that is coated with charcoal and baking soda?
