2012 Hyundai Elantra. My alarm goes off randomly. About 3-4 times a day. Is there an easy way to shut off the sound so it will never go off? Naturally, I don't want to lose any functionality of the remote/smart key or the push button start. Just to eliminate the beeps.

Now the trunk wouldn't open with my key fob, or the spare. So I thought maybe a shopping bag handle got in the way. On the way home from the store, the trunk open light popped on randomly. Trunk wasn't open. Okay, that's odd...
Now the alarm has been going off randomly. 3 times in the past 2 hours, I'm wondering if it's a massive electrical problem waiting to happen.
I have a 2013 Elantra GLS. Several times in the middle of the night the alarm that sounds when the door is locked just starts chirping randomly. Why that is?
View 10 RepliesI got my oil changed and tires balanced Saturday at the local shop around the corner. Now my alarm goes off randomly and when I use the clicker thing to lock the car, the horn doesn't make the beep sound it used to on the the second click. It never did this prior to having the oil changed, but how could that have anything to do with the alarm? I need to figure out how to make it stop, it's waking me (and my neighbors) up at night, and I have to keep leaving where ever I am to go out and see if the dang thing is going off again, which it is about half the time.
View 2 RepliesRecently I took my car in for an oil change, & after that when I lock my car it doesn't always make the beep noise to let me know the alarm system is armed.
A little while after that, my alarm started to go off randomly. This happens at random times, all my doors are closed and we even took the car in to get checked(they checked the wires or something I believe because they thought it had to do with my aftermarket remote start)
I've read somewhere about people saying it could have to do with my hood switches? But truth be told I'm not very good with cars.
So my factory car alarm has started going off by itself ; had to unhook horn wiring.
Bad hood switch issues are talked about ; seemed a little flaky when checked with meter so I changed it out, only $15. Hood pad already was made higher as a first try at fixing problem.
Still having alarm tripping sometimes. I read somewhere about the door lock actuators having a contact that tells alarm system when they are locked.
So I may have a faulty power lock assembly on one of the four doors. I have tried to open them when locked but they don't open. How to I tell which lock switch is bad , they are all pricy but the drivers rear is cheaper.
Is there any way to disable the alarm honk when locking the doors (2010 GTI)? The sound is obnoxious and I cannot stand it anymore. I took it to the dealer for my 90 day check-up and they said they cannot do it with this model.
I'm pretty sure it can be done with the VAG-COM........ but I don't have one. Is there a way to just unplug the unit that produces the noise.
We moved to a new home two months ago.My 2009 elantra alarm randomly goes off only between 9:30pm and 8:30 am and only when in my garage or driveway. Dealer "adjusted hood sensor" and it still activates. Seems the issue must be in my garage as didn't happen prior to moving and happens no where else. I disconnected the garage remote wireless sensor tonight to see if that could be culprit.

Quite annoying in early morning hours or in full parking lots with people staring at me. I'm looking to either disable the honking portion of the alarm, or just completely disable it.
View 4 RepliesMy 2010 Toyota Sienna alarm keeps going off randomly...there is no method to the madness. It happens after it's been running or not. It happens at all hours of the day and night. It can happen four times in a row and then not for days on end. It's literally driving me insane. I can stop it by pressing the unlock button on the remote. But it will often -- though not always -- do it a few more times after that. So, I open all the doors/trunk remotely and that usually puts an end to it for that period...but not always. But it always happens again...whether it's the next day or seven days later. The mechanic says they need to keep the car and hear/see it happen...but that means leaving my car with them for days on end, which I simply can't afford to do.

When I shut the hood, the car decided to simultaneously lock, and now the horn/alarm is going off and the key fob won't unlock the car or disable the alarm. And the keys don't work in the door/trunk so I can't get inside. What I should do?
View 5 RepliesI'm doing a project with my headlights & wanted to disable my dtrls so I can wire my led's to the parking light's so they are on when the parking lights are turned on, these will be on during the day with the parking lights. So it's not like I'm not going to have no DTRL 's the led idea I'm doing will be plenty bright to use as visible dtl's, I hate the old dull yellowish colour so can't wait to get this done so I don't have to always turn on my hids to hide the yellow!
View 9 RepliesHaving bought my Elantra just a few days ago. One minor annoyance however - on the dash next to the clock is a very bright, and very orange "Passenger Airbag Off" light. I commute by myself, so this is constantly on, and is pretty jarring vs. the muted and otherwise blue dashboard lights. Is there any way to disable this notification?
View 11 RepliesI have a GLS 2011 and since wednesday my car alarm seems to be working one out of five time. The doors locks but no horn chime and no corner lights flashing.
Checked all the doors and the hood and everything's closed. Also checked with my backup remote and nothing.
I have read all the answers about the alarm going off at random times, mine just started tonight and dealership is closed. Is there anything that I can do to keep it from going off and waking the neighborhood?
View 2 RepliesPicked up my brand new elantra last week, however alarm was not working properly. It arms ok (i.e., horn chirps after two clicks, lights flash etc)...but when we tried to test the alarm (as part of my delivery inspection), nothing happened. We tried opening door without key, opening from a half open shutter etc.
Dealer promised to resolve issue, they've been good so far, but it's worrying me a bit, brand new car, I shouldn't have to think of these issues and take my car and leave it in the dealer garage for a few days for them to diagnose this.
Having an interesting issue with my 2013 Elentra Limited ....
A couple times now the factory alarm will start going off by for no reason. This was confirmed by my neighbor, who was sitting outside when it started going off the last time with nobody around it. Also, when this happens, the alarm button the on key fob will not stop the alarm, only unlocking the car will stop it.
Also, after this happens, I can no longer set the alarm (pressing the lock button twice and hearing the car honk once) for usually at least a few hours if not a day. what happens is that i press the lock button and you hear the doors lock but if you keep hitting the lock button, the doors just keep locking, the car never honks.
Having issues with Elantra 2011 and their remote car starter? My car starter occasionally sets off the car alarm. I will be bringing my car to the dealer this week for the 5th time to try to solve this problem.

Today I came out of a store & my car started beeping the panic alarm. I don't carry the key fob with me, just a key. I unlocked the door, sat down, put the key in & turned the ignition. The lights all lit on the dashboard as normal but the car did not start. absolutely nothing. I was at a loss for what to do.
Fortunately, someone came out of the store & asked me if I needed a jump & explained what happened, and he said let me try something. He tried to start the car, then got out of it, locked the door, unlocked the door, sat back down & tried again. The car started right up.
The car is a 2014 Elantra SE with the Premium Package.
I just got my elantra on monday and on wednesday the usb connected great to my iphone 5s. Well on saturday I tried connecting my friends iphone 4s and the connection was horrible it kept going in and out a few times like it was trying to connect and eventually gave up. We thought maybe it was her phone so we tried mine but it did the same thing. Why its doing it? I just think its weird that it worked wednesday but on saturday it wouldn't connect to anything.
