I have a 2013 Elantra w/tech pkg (bought brand new) and I have about 106k miles on it. Today I noticed this strange issue where when I let off the gas, it's like the engine doesn't notice right away and continues to apply power. It's only a delay for about a second or so, but it's noticeable enough that I'm writing this. It's really odd and I don't know what to make of it.
View 1 RepliesI'm getting pretty significant throttle response delay in my 2013 Elantra w/ Tech. It's pretty egregious in stop-and-go traffic when I attempt to accelerate, wait a second before my car responds, and then get jerked forward, only to stop a second later.
I emailed Hyundai and was told to speak to the dealership. I called up the dealership and they had no idea what I was talking about. I emailed another local dealership, and they didn't get back to me. Pretty annoyed at this point.
I did a search on this forum and found some threads discussing resetting the throttle system by resetting the ECM. Wasn't too confident in doing that myself and I didn't want to mess up my car's computer system at all. I'd like the dealership to take care of this under warranty, but if they haven't heard anything about this, then I'm not sure how to proceed. What my next move should be?
Have had some issues with some intermittent clunking when I shift or let off the gas. It only clunks when shifting from 1-2 or 2-3 or when I am btw 1500-2500 rpms and let off the gas to coast a bit. There are times when it won't clunk at all or it does it all the time, I can shift fast or slow doesn't matter. The dealership I bought the car from couldn't find anything wrong on my last service. Also when I put the clutch in sometimes I hear a bit of a clunk as well. Also I notice moving the shifter from gear to gear when shifting feels very notchy, but most of the times its smooth.
View 8 RepliesPicked up the car 5 days ago but noticed when I press the clutch and rev the engine, there's a throttle delay/hesitation and a simultaneous sound like "psshht". The sound is almost like when you're shifting a turbo car with a blow off valve.
Other than that the car is great. 2012 Elantra GL manual ...
Have a 2013 Hyundai Elantra that will sometimes not start . But after s few attempts it will turn over??
View 66 RepliesI am 1/2 way thru a 2 hour trip driving on interstate 75 in Florida doing about 75mph when all of the sudden I couldn't steer, had no dash lights with the exception of the radio plus the bluetooth still worked and braking was very difficult. I couldn't accelerate, nothing happened when I pushed the gas pedal. Neither turn signal worked but the emergency flashers did. Managed to get it on side of highway but then it got interesting; couldn't shift out of drive and couldn't turn the car off; I could turn the key but nothing happened. After sitting on the side of the road with my foot on the brake pedal for 30 minutes I tried turning the car off again and it magically worked. I sat there for about 10 minutes and thought I would turn the car on and see what happened; turned the key and it fired up like normal and everything was working just fine.
View 42 RepliesI have a 2013 Hyundai Elenatra 7 months old. the trunk opens by itself very often. I asked at the service department at the dealership and they say never heard of this problem. Also I came out yesterday the battery was dead even thought nothing was left on. I fell there must be some electrical or switching problem with this car.
View 4 RepliesI've had the car since the end of April. About 8 or 9 times I've had people come into my office and tell me that my truck is open.
If you own one of these you know that the word "hair trigger" does not come to mind with opening the truck remotely. You have to purposely work the trunk button. I really don't thinks it's because I sat on the key fob or bumped it so it accidentally opened the trunk.
As you can imagine I keep valuable things in my trunk so this is not good.
In the last two weeks, our 2013 Elantra (we have a 2014 also) has developed what I can only describe as a "hum" from the front of the car... only at speeds over 40 mph. It sounds like a electrical transformer hum/buzz. Other than the sound, the car drives and performs as always. It just went over 52k miles.
If you are going 70 mph and put the transmission in neutral, it's still there. Not a transmission sound. If you turn the A/C on and off, it's still there. Not the A/C compressor. It does not get much louder or more pronounced as speed increases, which lead me to believe it is not the alternator or a pulley, and you can't hear it when the car is parked and you rev it up.
The only other source I can think of is the electric power steering motor. I am taking it to the dealer in a few days to let them see if they can diagnose and correct this issue.
My 2013 Elantra won't shift out of park. I know that I should check fuses, but what fuses might be associated with this. (The brake lights are not affected)...
View 1 RepliesThe guage on my '13 Auto is always 3-5 mpg optimistic vs my hand calculated mpgs. I find this unacceptable since the guage on my '08 350z's always within 0.2 mpg , and some times it is right on the dot! How inaccurate is yours? And I do fill at the same pump, though i know this isn't an absolute guarantee the tank is being filled exactly the same every time, but still, off by 5 mpg?
View 30 RepliesI have an Elantra 2013, the issue that I face is that when I turn OFF the A/C, the recirculation turns off by itself which I don't want as it will allow dust to accumulate through the open vents when the Car is parked overnight.
So each time I turn off the a/c, I need to press the recirculation button as well so I can turn off the car with recirculation ON. Doesn't happen in other cars..
Picked up my brand new elantra last week, however alarm was not working properly. It arms ok (i.e., horn chirps after two clicks, lights flash etc)...but when we tried to test the alarm (as part of my delivery inspection), nothing happened. We tried opening door without key, opening from a half open shutter etc.
Dealer promised to resolve issue, they've been good so far, but it's worrying me a bit, brand new car, I shouldn't have to think of these issues and take my car and leave it in the dealer garage for a few days for them to diagnose this.
I have a 2013 Elantra GLS. I use a USB stick to listen to music. Sometimes it would reset the center console/radio if I leave the USB stick in, but this time it didn't turn back on.
View 5 RepliesOur 2010 Prius jerks at speed of 15-20 mph and or when letting off the accelerator. I changed the spark plugs & filter. Also, cleaned out EGR tube, throttle body and intake manifold. thinking these might be it. These did make minor improvements, but the issue remains. No codes.
View 18 RepliesEver since the first week of owning my 13 Elantra I've noticed my steering wheel isn't centered when driving straight not just by a mm or 2 it's pointing slightly to the left, I would guarantee most of you would hate this as much as I do! I went in to an alignment shop and they said during transport over rough sea's they're strapped down tight and the violent sea can cause them to shift which causes my issue, thought that was a bit of BS but surprisingly enough the dealer said the same!? I'm at 3000kms at the moment after 3months and was instructed to put at least 20,000kms before bothering with it! This is the only new car I've ever bought it only had 8kms when I took it for its test drive and never noticed this and there were about 3kms put on since the test and pick up and that was them filling the tank and getting it ready!?

When I turn the key to on (engine not running) The stereo turn on normally.(NON -NAV) Start the car and it turns off, no screen, no audio, just like i hit the power button. Load up the electrical system, max A/C, headlights, Etc. It turns back on like nothing happened. Voltage on the battery is 14.3 with no load and right around 14.0 when everything is loaded and i finally get it to turn back on. Do these head units have an over voltage protection? 14.3 doesn't seem that high to me.
View 2 RepliesMy Elantra has about 5,500 miles on it now. I went on a road trip up to Washington D.C. during spring break about two weeks ago.
Anyway, it has been making a squeaking noise when I turn right at around 15-20 mph. It makes a sound similar to a swing when its swinging. It's slightly high pitched and sounds like it's metal on metal. It's getting kind of annoying and I think I might take it in to have it checked out.
Picked up my brand new 2013 Elantra 2 nights ago. 51 Km's on it when I drove it off the lot. Immediately noticed it was making a very loud noise whenever I hit any road bumps, potholes, sewers, train tracks, etc.
I can't tell if it is coming from the front, or back of the car. Many of the threads on here seem to be talking about a common rear shocks issue? Also read a lot about faulty struts? Swaybar?
After 1 1/2 weeks I finally took the new Elantra out in the night time for a quick look see to check out the headlights. Immediately I noticed that the stock headlights have a definite cutoff down the road in front of you. That's kinda cool and Ok, BUT, in driving only 35mph, I felt like I was already overdriving the headlights. I'm thinking about tweaking the lights up a bit and counting the turns of the screw if that's still the way it aims. Have you noticed your headlights seemingly aimed a little low? Seems like and extra 50 feet would go a long way, but I don't want to aim them in other's eyes either.
View 8 RepliesI had a new trailer hitch installed on my 2013 Hyundai Elantra Coupe last month...after a couple of days I noticed a vibration noise in the right rear...I took it in to the dealer, they said they hitch didn't fit right and the vibration was caused by the hitch...they recommended I take it back to the installer (e-trailer). So I took it back to e-trailer...they looked at it and said they work with the dealers to design the specs for the hitches and there shouldn't be an issue...so they say they found a piece of styrofoam that was loose in the fascia and that was causing the vibration...so tomorrow I'm going back to the dealer to have them see if they see the same problem...so far I'm getting the old 'it's not my problem'...I really don't care whose problem it is, I just want it fixed!
