I have a 2012 Hyundai Elantra and I have had it for almost a year. Its been snowing here in Tennessee. I went to start my car and wont start. All the lights come on, radio, etc.I have tried jumping the car and wont work, even tried changing out battery. Not sure if theres any known issues going on or if it has to do with it being cold.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2012 Elantra limited. About 2 weeks ago I've started to hear a clicking noise coming from the gearbox when brake pedal is pressed and let go. This only happens when the car is at standstill. I took it in for service today and sales rep said its a normal clicking noise and his sisters car makes same sound. He said its an actuator motor engaging to allow the car to shift when brake is pressed. The thing is, the clicking was never there before or maybe not so loud. So what should I do? Car is still under warranty, should I demand for them to replace the actuating motor? Maybe call Hyundai and complain that they said the noise is normal ?
View 4 RepliesOur 2012 elantra gls with 112k miles on it decided to freak out yesterday.
Car wont turn over at all. there is also a clicking sound coming from the interior fuse block. I popped the hood and smelled sulfur. I put the volt meter to the battery and it shows 12.8 ish. I checked all the fuses and didn't find any blown. I also pulled the starter relay and tested it and it checked out.
Trying to turn the car over some times the dash light will flicker and the wipers will turn on by themselves. I also had a clicking sound coming from the fuse block under the hood. Interior lights come on but are dim and the parking light flicker a bit and fade. I downloaded the manual but am not sure what to look for at this point.
I had my vehicle in last week due to a sticking in my steering wheel. An alignment was completed, however the issues still persists. When driving at 60 mph+, and when having to correct the wheel, there is a slight stick in the wheel. On a side note, my CV joint already had to be replaced!
View 20 RepliesI have an 2012 Hyundai Elantra. I've been having an intermittent issue with startup. When I go to start the car it cranks and just when you'd expect it to start it just drops out. I'm not letting up off the key too early, this happens as I'm still turning the key. All the dash lights stay on. When I try it again it starts right up. I did mention it to the dealer last time it was in and they said they looked it up and discovered the cable to my starter was loose so they tightened it. Clearly that hasn't fixed the problem.

View 4 RepliesMy 2006 Hyundai Elantra will not start. I went out yesterday to start it to leave for an appointment and I heard the battery try to engage and then only click, click, click. Is it the battery? I've thus far had no issues or problems with this car. I'm going to try and get it jump-started this morning to bring it to the mechanic. Could it be the starter?

I found same issues on the Sonata forums but I just wanted to know if we elantra users had the same problems like me. Its annoying & I don't find it normal. What can be done ????
View 3 RepliesI just started hearing a loud click when I change from park to reverse and from reverse to drive. If I keep moving the knob between those three spots with my foot on the brake and hand brake off, I hear a loud click at each spot. Hard to describe... anyway, this only happens when I first start the car, by the time I get to work if I try doing that when I park there is no loud click sound. The thing is, I don't know if this was always happening and I just noticed it now, or if it just started.
View 14 RepliesSo fairly recently, I've noticed a metallic-ish click like noise from my back rear driver side wheel. I hear it on occasion when sitting down in my car and the car tilts slightly. I can reproduce the sound when I take my hand and rock the car just a little bit. What that might be? Or if I should be concerned?
View 9 RepliesThere is a medium sounding clicking coming from the gear selector area. I understand this must be the mechanism that prevents you from accidentally going into reverse when you are driving. However, the sound really is irritating and the car did not used to do this. I have taken it to the dealer, which states it is normal and there is nothing to fix. I have been doing some research online and it appears an easy fix is to just grease it back up. It appears over time the grease comes off or something. That being said, how do I get the initial gray plate off? (see picture)
View 6 RepliesSo my 2014 Elantra makes a tapping/ticking sound on cold starts which stays audible after the oil gets up to temp for at least until about 10 minutes of driving. I've heard this noise since I bought the car and of course kept searching all over the forums but everyone seems to have a different opinion as to what causes it and if it's normal or not. I finally decided to drop my car off at the dealer overnight so they could start in the morning and diagnose it. They listened, ran some tests on the engine and said everything was fine, nothing was damaged and that the sound is from the second fuel pump that is located over the engine.
They tested my fuel and said it's making the sound because I'm using a heavy fuel quality, then the tech told me I should run a fuel cleaner every other time I fill the car up. This seems excessive to me? I only fill my car up with Shell gas and avoid discount places which the tech agreed that Shell gas should be fine. I only have 22k miles on the car do I really need to be running cleaners every other tank of gas? Also wondering if using non ethanol gas would fix this problem. I did run 1 tank of non-ethanol but didn't notice a difference and since non-ethanol costs more than premium I went back to regular. I will try a fuel cleaner though?
I have a 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS... Few months back I refueled my tank with degraded fuel (of course i did not know about it and some refueling stations in our country mix oils) and the problems started to arise with my car.. initially it all started with jerks and cracking sounds from the engine.. I then took it to the dealership and cleaned everything except the injectors but the jerking and cracking problem was solved.. but it still had a pickup problem.. whenever i tried to accelerate from 40km/h to above, the transmission seems to give a jolt make a clicking sound when downshifting.. and the acceleration compared to before has degraded.. I took it to the dealership again and their answer was drive it for 300 km more everything will b fine.. but i have driven the car for 1000 km more but the problem is not solving.. I don't know.. my warranty period is over.. in our country they only provide for 12000 km or 1 yr warranty.. now i have checked online and it seems Elantra transmission has bugged a lot of ppl..

The push start wouldn't work this morning, the car will make the annoying clicking sound, the dashboard is lit up but bunch of icons are active, the brake is very hard.
I saw few people had same issue and they said it could be either 1) dead batter 2) starter kit issuue.
My car is parked on basement garage, not sure how it can be towed. I wish a simple jump start would fix it and maybe I can bring it to nearby shop for checkup.
I have a clicking sound coming from the front right wheel, happens while driving straight or turning. My guy checked the cv boots, axle bolt, various other connections that seem fine. Then he takes a phrase out of Satan's handbook and says "take it to the dealer". I saw the horns on his head and the red eyes while he was saying it. So I made apt for next week. I don't think it's anything serious , Orr maybe it's something to do with the rotor, caliper, break pads ? Everything else seems tight.

It's definitely much louder with the hood up--doesn't seem quite as drastic when sitting in the driver's seat.
I've come across the thread here on the engine rattle/knock fix, but I'm not sure if this is the same thing. Would this be considered a knock?
It's a 2011 Elantra with about 82,000 miles on the odometer. It has an extended warranty on it, in addition to the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty on it, so it's at the dealership this morning.
I have a 2014 Elantra, today it would not start, only loud clicking noise and lights flash. I moved gear shift to neutral same results, moved back into park same results. Do not think its a battery issue.
View 11 RepliesI have been experiencing a crazy problem, my vehicle makes clicking noises from door area, this happens when car is moving or sitting. when i left my car parked for two days the car would not start. My mechanic thinks the door function is acting up and had a remote at one time on this vehicle, for which I don't have now. I just use key to open the door, he will remove door function and clicking should stop. and stop draining battery.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2012 limited (non tech pkg) and I want to see if my speakers are the only ones that have a buzzing to them during cold mornings? Once it warms up, the speakers tend to be better. I have the power bass on low and I usually listen to AM radio in the morning. Kind of hard to explain but there is a buzzing rattle noise when the sound reaches a high point. It isn't a constant noise but rather dependent on the sound.
View 1 RepliesI just got into my 2012 GLS Elantra and tried firing it up, and the engine will turn over, but wont start. Power windows, radio, lights, everything works. Earlier in the day, I moved the car from the garage to the driveway and turned it off about 30 seconds after I turned it on..
I've read things from checking the sparks to the fuel pump..is it possible that it could be flooded? I am leaving it alone right now and I plan to try to fire it up in an hour or so with the accelerator fully pressed down in case this is the case, hopefully that does the trick..
At many, but not all, gas stations, as I try to fill up the gass flow cuts off very shortly after I start. No matter how I position the nozzle it cuts off. if I squeeze the trigger just barely so the gas flows slowly, then it will remain on, but takes forever to fill up.
Again, doesn't happen at every gas station, but a lot. Based on that, I'd assume it's not a malfunction in a valve, filler neck, evap canister, etc.
