Elantra MD (2010-15) :: 2012 - Chugging During Acceleration - Misfiring

I am starting to have an issue with my 2012 auto transmission Elantra that just passed 100k miles. When under mild acceleration, as when gently leaving a red light accelerating to 45 mph, I can feel a distinct chugging as if a cylinder is randomly mis-firing once or twice a second. This is never felt during coasting with no power applied. It is also not apparent during full throttle or aggressive acceleration. Only during casual daily-type driving. Now I have had other cars in the past that once in a while would throw a CEL code if a cylinder mis-fired, but I have no Check Engine Light on. This leads me to doubt a mis-firing plug. What could be the cause of this?

Other possibilities would be perhaps the auto transmission is somehow momentarily interrupting power to cause the mis-firing effect??? Is that possible? Perhaps the fuel pump is going bad and getting intermittent? But then why is all good during full throttle?

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Losing Power - Misfiring And Chugging

I have a 1997 f150 lariat 4.6, at some point i started losing power, so of course I had my friend come by and check all the mechanics under neath the hood and besides needing caps and rotors all seemed well under there, so twice I've put it on a computer and it needs and o2 sensor, I've already checked my Cadillac coverter , and dropped and replaced my gas tank twice, I ended up having to replace a shock, it does run better when i put heat through it for a short time.

I've been checking my antifreeze and I am not losing none, I also did regular maintenance to it to figuring it was a fowled plug but still no good , so whats next ? coils ? I didn't replace my plug wires but I checked them all and they looked to be in good condition and I have a transmission filter kit to change that out I don't believe its been done ever ..

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: CEL Flashed / Engine Began Misfiring

So yesterday my car flashed a CEL so today I got it checked out early in the morning and the SA told me that my car had the old Engine Software for MY2011 Elantra's so the dealer updated it to the newest one with the TSB and CEL was gone and I was off with a newly washed car.

Then this afternoon my car the dilemma started after I picked up my friends kids. When I started my car, the engine began misfiring to the point it barely starts I even tried revving her a lil bit but to no avail. I had to drive it to the nearest parking lot since I was parked on the street but the engine was not cooperating at all. Good thing she let me move her a few feet away just to be in a safe zone with the kids.

Called my SA and told him about the problem and he told me to call Hyundai Roadside to get my car towed. 30mins later car was at the dealer but tech's are gone for the day so I had to leave my car. The dealership was kind enough to give me a rental until I get back my car. For now I'm driving a 2011 Nissan Sentra (base model) I'll update you guys tomorrow of what happened with my car.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Engine Light On And Transmission Misfiring

engine light came on 3 days ago....engine/transmission seemed to be "misfiring" a bit.....engine light went off after 3 days.....took in today, computer says some "transmission sensor/module" not working properly.....will take 3 hrs to repair but warranty covering it.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Wavy Acceleration Feel And Sometimes Hesitates A Bit

My car has the wavy acceleration feel and sometimes hesitates a bit. It is way worse when the a/c is on. I wonder if this is a octane or sparkplug issue. On my old cruze 1.4t the gap was wrong from the factory. It came with all four gapped under .022 but the manual called for .028. Everyone gapped to .035 with great results. Not checked the sparkplugs yet?

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Huge Plume Of Smoke On Acceleration

I have a fleeting issue that of course only happens on rare occasions. I have a 2011 Elantra Limited. I drive it pretty easy. On three different occasions, when I really had to get on it to get into traffic, I have left a huge plume of smoke. From what I can tell it's darker in color, but it's been usually evening so I can't really tell. If I punch it again, it's fine. I have mentioned to the dealer each time and they say nothing shows amiss.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Clunking Noise / Knock On Acceleration

For the last few weeks (about a month) I have been experiencing a clunking noise/ knock on acceleration coming from either in front of my feet or below my feet (drivers side) ONLY on acceleration and only then from a full stop. I can also feel the clunk as well which leads me to believe it is a transmission mount.....maybe an engine mount. I am taking her to the dealer after work today. we had some very cold weather and I was hoping it was just ice but yesterday and today were well above zero and it is still there and it is EVERY time I accelerate. Which is a somewhat good thing since I will be able to replicate the problem for Hyundai.....

Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Metal Grinding / Chugging Noise

I have a 2006 Elantra 4 cylinder with only 55,000 miles put on it.

Whenever I accelerate I hear this noise that sounds like a lawn lower under my hood, usually only there until around 45 MPH, then it dies down a bit. It as been getting louder and more....... screechy..... as of late.

Also, when idle, there is a sound that almost sounds like a metal grinding chugging noise. It comes and goes with no real rhythm or timing.

Additionally, there is a metal grinding noise coming from what seems to be my front right wheel area when I make wide right turns, as well as intermittently while driving regularly.

To my knowledge, neither of the motion noises seem to be happening above 45-55 MPH, or they are too soft to hear at those speeds.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Loss Of Acceleration Suddenly While Still Pressing On Gas Pedal

My Hyundai Avante (2011 model 1.6) suddenly loses acceleration while my foot is still pressing on the gas pedal. Every time that happens I have to raise my foot from the gas pedal and press it again to make the car accelerate. This thing happens randomly, but mostly at speed lower than 80 Km/h

I tested the car on an empty road once; I didn't raise my foot from the gas pedal this time when the car lost acceleration. The car speed dropped to zero and the RPM gauge returned to idle (i.e. around 1000 RPM).

The check engine never light up during or even after this thing occurs. Here is the list of things the mechanic tried on my car:

1-Cleaned the body throttle
2- Tested the car with another used body throttle
2- Tested the car with another used gas pedal
3-Check the fuel pressure and injection
4- Checked the sparks
5- Tested the car onboard computer.

None of the above worked!!! Here is the strange thing my mechanic discovered, if he unplugs the cable of the Anti-lock braking system in the car. The problem never occurs.

I have been driving the car for two weeks, with the ABS system unplugged. The loss of acceleration problem never happens. I am not sure what the ABS has got to do with the car acceleration.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Front Wheel Metal Squeak During Acceleration

My parents own a 2013 Elantra 4-door (sedan) and for the last few months it's been making a metal grind/squeak. Here are the following characteristics:

-It occurs only during acceleration from a full stop or low speed. It would then disappear if we drive it longer or get to 60km/h.
-We've diagnosed it to the front right wheel.
-It sounds like the squeak at you get when your break pads are almost used up - metal on metal grinding squeak
-It seems to be temperature related as the squeaking occurs less during cooler temperatures - it comes back once (I assume) the wheel / brake / rotors are sufficiently warm.

We have brought it to a mechanic and he did hear the squeak. He took of the pads and re-lubed (not on the braking side obviously). No change. BTW the pads are still very beefy and is the original pads that came with the car.

Searching online it seems this issue is fairly common and it seems to be the brake pads. Is this what's happening to my parents' car? If so is it as simple as replacing the brake pads with a different brand?

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: 2016 SE Running Rough On Acceleration Around 3000 RPM

So, I have a 2016 Elantra SE Auto w/ 26k miles, I have 1k miles life until my next oil change.

Since about Saturday, whenever I accelerate, around 3k RPM - 4k RPM it's running/ sounding really rough! Not sure what's causing that, I checked my air filter earlier that day & put it right back in, also put in some HID lights in. I thought maybe the containment cover or gasket around the filter wasn't seeded properly, but everything checks out. I'm pretty car savy, so I know this isn't normal for brand new cars. Doesn't seem like it's loosing power, I still get pretty quick throttle response when I really gas it!

Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Chugging And White Smoke Coming From Under The Hood

My wife just sent me a text saying she noticed her car (2005 Elantra GT, auto, 140k) making a chugging sound and then saw white smoke coming from under the hood on her way to class.

I'm at work, so I'm trying to pinpoint the problem from my office, but I'm guessing the white smoke is the result of a coolant leak? Bad seal somewhere? What would cause the chugging that's related to a coolant leak? Or maybe it's not coolant-related at all.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Ticking Noise Under Very Light Acceleration / Engine Seized At 60,000 Kms

2013 Elantra manual. 60,xxxkm, owned from new, purchased in August 2013. Oil changes always done within 5-7000km. Was 2000km over my oil change due date when this happened (haven't had time to get it done, been driving my motorcycle mostly). Driving around today I dropped my wife off, then I heard a quiet ticking noise under very light acceleration.

The noise would go away under normal acceleration, no noise while revving, and no noise while engine braking. The noise got worse after about 5km. I was in traffic and engaged the clutch into first gear, the car stalled violently. Turning the key results in a click, then nothing. In 1st gear the car will not roll forward. In reverse the car will not roll back. It still rolls in neutral. Had it towed to my local Hyundai dealer and got a rental. Waiting on the results.

Never saw a drop of oil on the ground while parked, and never smelt any oil burning. I run between 87 and 91 octane, whichever is available. I have the extended 160,000km 8yr warranty, hopefully this is covered as I still owe about 15g's on the car.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: 2016 - Rapid Deceleration Or Sometimes Sudden Acceleration And Moves Unevenly

When driving, if I let off on the gas, my 2016 Elantra kinda coasts for a second or 2 and then does a rapid deceleration or sometimes sudden acceleration and moves unevenly instead of coming to a smooth stop or slowly coasting at a constant speed. The car jerks just enough to feel like I'm braking a bit. Not smooth like it should be.

I have been using my Elantra 2016 since end of last year. It has mostly been like this since the last few months and lately it has increased. Also, lately my fuel economy hasn't been great as well. Why my Elantra has been behaving like this?

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Acceleration Drop To 1000 / 1500 RPM Very Rapidly When Gear Shifts In 2nd

I have only done 18,000 Kms on my 2013 Elantra GLS. Whenever I am in traffic driving real slow, and whenever the gear shifts in 2nd, the acceleration begins to drop to 1000/1500 RPM very rapidly while pressing and releasing the pedal, and it becomes jerky...

I will try posting a video, but meanwhile, it gets really annoying at times and I need to maintain a very feather foot to make sure it doesn't jerk especially when there are passengers on board..

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Squeaking Noise On Hard Acceleration - Rear Spring Mounting Direction

I took my rear springs off for some cleaning and lubing because they were making squeaking noise on hard acceleration, but I forgot to note which direction the springs should point...

I kinda remember the top and bottom. If I got this right, the end with a smaller loop is on the bottom.

Is there any difference between left and right springs? Also, the spring mounting pads is not symmetrical. Which way are they suppose to face? Does it matter?

For a few years now my 2012 elantra has been pulling to the right. I got new tires and a alignment yesterday and it hasn't seemed to fix the problem. Now I think it must be a bigger problem than just the alignment. What the problem could be? I will probably take it into the dealer and see what they say.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: 2012 Dash Rattle When Driving

I have a rattle in the dash up in the middle of the dash kind of in between the two sides of the car and between the window and front so basically right in the middle of the dash, if I slap it with my hand I can make the same sort of rattle so something is loose, bad thing is I dropped by dealership and it didn't do it when I was in the car driving with the service guy but I slapped on the dash and you could here a something loose sound rattle same kind I hear when driving. He said that is normal for things to make noise in there when you tap the dash. About a week ago I had the dirty sock smell coming from my vents so I took out the Cabin Filter and sprayed Lysol in the intake the put a new filter in. This is about the same time the rattle started. I wonder if the Lysol might have made something come loose in the vent system.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: 2012 GLS Engine Will Turn Over But Won't Start

I just got into my 2012 GLS Elantra and tried firing it up, and the engine will turn over, but wont start. Power windows, radio, lights, everything works. Earlier in the day, I moved the car from the garage to the driveway and turned it off about 30 seconds after I turned it on..

I've read things from checking the sparks to the fuel pump..is it possible that it could be flooded? I am leaving it alone right now and I plan to try to fire it up in an hour or so with the accelerator fully pressed down in case this is the case, hopefully that does the trick..
