Elantra HD (2006-10) :: Electric Side View Mirror Won't Go Up And Down
Jul 9, 2014
My mirror got banged and fell out. I put the mirror back on but now it won't go up and down. It will go right and left. I can't even push it with my hand. Perhaps electric mirror's can't be pushed by hand. I've never tried before. It's a 2010 Hyundai Elantra touring. Is there anything I can check or will I have to buy a new one.

So I noticed a while back when I bought this car that my driver's side side-view mirror was a little loose. I didn't think anything of it back then b/c it still worked fine. Then just a couple of weeks ago the driver's side side-view mirror fell & hung by the wires connected to it. I can put it back to how's is supposed to be but it's really loose now. So I looked at the plastic pieces that hold this thing in place and I saw this:
If I put it back where it's supposed to be it stays up there but is very loose!

My Elantra SE interior mirror has had an annoying problem from new: it rattles. Usually doesn't start until after many minutes of steady driving. Then gets loud enough to be a real distraction, and even to interfere with outside sounds - a safety issue. I've wiggled the mirror to all sorts of positions, but only touching it continuously damps the vibration - not good for a stick-shift.
Since it takes a while to begin rattling, it has never happened during regular service appointments. The mirror is not user-serviceable; a special tool is needed. (My dealer doesn't even have one; they get mirror work done during occasional visits by a specialist.) They wouldn't replace the mirror on my say-so, saying I needed to call Hyundai.

So I was just looking at my rear view mirror and noticed that it has the Celsius and Farenhite symbols where the compass is. Is there a way to display the temperature on the mirror? (I know it's right next to the clock already). I also found it interesting that if you hold the compass button down, the letters will turn into numbers for some reason.

How to pop off the side view mirror (just the mirror part, not the entire mount)
I know either the bottom slides in, and the top clips in, or vice versa. I don't want to pry off the wrong side and snap off tabs that slide in.

Planning on tinting soon probably with 3M Scotchtint color stable 35% on sides and back. I was wondering about what percentage tint would effect the automatic dimming rear view mirror and what percentage would render it an expensive brick?

This triangular piece of trim adjacent to the side-view mirror on my 2004 Lexus RX330 has several "wrinkles" and other abnormal markings on the trim piece. This problem only appears on the passenger side. Also, there are a few of these wrinkles on the window pillars.

Need to replace side views with wide angle lenses? How easy is it to replace them? I don't want to break anything, but it looks as if they just snap in and out, is that so?

The electric side mirror adjustment, L&R, (drivers side door armrest near window adjustment buttons) on my 2003 XC90 is not working. All other electrics are ok. Cannot seem to see a fuse for this circuit in the fuse box under the bonnet.

How to set the passenger side view mirror memory adjustment? I am unclear on a couple of things:
1) With the transmission in any position other than reverse, adjust the passenger side mirror as you like it.
2) Put the car in reverse, and adjust the same mirror to show you what you want to look at when you have the transmission in reverse.
3) Now press the appropriate seat memory buttons, to store that configuration as your 'driver preference', and the car will remember both settings.
Does #3 mean that you turn off the car leaving it in reverse? Leave it running - in reverse? And then you press "Set" and then the seat number button - and then "Set" again?

I just used it for the first time and I noticed it barely turns downward as far as it did in my 2004. Is this correct, or does it need some adjustment? It works just not nearly as well.

My Kia Optima side view mirror popped off when it hit a trash can and I was wondering if there was any way to reattach it? I was thinking of using some really strong epoxy, but I don't know where I would apply it since the mirror rotates when it comes in contact with other objects and if I used epoxy I might lose that functionality. I attached an image .....

I have a 2009 Honda Civic with powered retractable side view mirrors. Unfortunately one of the mirrors is broken and is perpetually trying to retract (or unfold). Aside from the motor constantly running the mirror functions fine. I looked into replacing the mirror assembly with a new replacement part but noticed that none of the replacement parts feature a blinker on the front cover of the assembly, as the original does. I assume that the wiring is not present in the replacement part so swapping in the old cover would not be sufficient.
Is the scrap yard route for finding a replacement part my best option? Is there an easy way to disable the motor without disabling the other features (the blinker and power tilt adjustment)?

I have a new 2015 RX 350 and the side view mirror quit folding when I turn off the car. The auto light is turned on. It will work when I utilize the manual switch and it will open when I use the auto switch, but it won't close when I park the car and shut it off. Is there something I'm doing wrong or some other item I need to set?

Firstly, when i put my car in reverse, my passenger side view mirror does not automatically tilt. is there some sort of setting i must go to?
Secondly, I was wondering if it was possible to AUTOMATICALLY fold the side view mirror when i off the engine, or lock the doors, and for them to automatically unfold when i start the engine or unlock the doors! Instead of manually turning the knob.
I went into the Menu, and there was an option under "locks .... ---> mirrors", and i selected sync. Does that have anything to do with my question?
Thirdly, The rain sensing wipers. I have to activate this by pulling the lever up ONE STEP to the intermittent mode right. I tested the rain sensing wipers with a bottle of water! and the sensor is at the rear view mirror. The question is that when i off the engine and leave the rain wipers under Mode ONE (one step up the lever from off) the car doesn't automatically activate the wipers if it rains. I have to push it down to off! then back to INTERMITTENT MODE! Is this normal?
