View 3 RepliesI have noticed since I got the car( 6 months ago), when ever I have passengers in the back seats i hear a clunking noise coming from the right rear suspension area.
( I don't know if this is from the suspension or not and I only notice this noise when there are passengers in the back). The clunking noise is really annoying.
I've been noticing some new noises in my Elantra in the last couple of months.
First, there's a clunking noise that sounds like it's coming from the steering area. It usually happens when I back up and rotate the steering wheel, like when I back out of my parking spot. More often it's in the morning.
Second, when I turn the fan on there is a high pitched squeal. If you turn the fan off you can hear the squeal more clearly for a moment as the fans die down. This one only started happening in the last couple of weeks.
I guess I'll have to take it in and get them to take a look. Last year it was a squeaking in the pano roof which only happened when it was hot out. They seemed to have lessened it but it wasn't gone completely.
2010 Matrix XR, car drives great except while driving off of parking lot going slow over bumps I hear a bit of rattling noise coming what seems like the driver side dash area... it almost feels like its coming perhaps from the steering wheel but the steering wheel feels very tight with no play at all.. Other than that it's all good can not hear anything wrong driving on a smooth road or a highway...

When the tires spin (like taking off on a hill in the rain - that's when i noticed it) and I let off to let everything settle down, I hear a rattling kind of noise coming from the middle dash area, maybe on the engine compartment side of the firewall. It sounds like a rubber ball in a box being jostled around. What this might be?
View 3 RepliesI brought my 2011 GS350 in today for the dealer to fix the rattling noise coming from the dashboard after 2.5 hrs of waiting the car was fixed and I drove it to work and the rattling was minimal but tonight after work it was really cold I drove the car home and the rattling noise seem like it coming from the dashboard area near the windshield and the noise was more noticeable than this morning right after i left the dealer.
I just bought the car on March 3, 2015 so far loving the ride but the rattling noise makes me worry. The car is still under factory warranty until March 29th 2015 I am hoping they can correct the problem before the warranty expires.What should I do next?
I know this has been talked about. Knocking in rear right area, when driving over bumps and holes.
Read its sway and struts. As of 2010 Hyundai had no recall or solution to issue.
Will this correct the noise. When I push the rear up and down I get no noise.
2009 Hyundai Elantra GLS
I have a 70,000 mile touring SE which at low speeds( less than 20) has a rattling/clunking noise when hitting any small bump. Can not hear anything at higher speeds. Steers well noise could be coming from both sides. They did replace my transmission at 40,000 miles. Car does not bounce when pushing on it like a strut is bad.
View 5 RepliesA few months before warranty expired on my 2009 Elantra I began hearing squeaking noise from clutch (it is 5 speed manual). Three trips to dealer and finally they opened clutch to find bearing being dry and plate dirty - bearing lost seal and all grease leaked.
It was about 50k miles on ODO. Plate, bearing and disk (I said replace it since you are there - I paid for the disk) were installed new. All supposed to be fine... until I got home. Here is what happening.
Fork is "swinging". It does not simply seat in position when released, but you can see it moving.
Clutch - when idle speed, clutch released in neutral there is a loud rattling/grinding noise.
Now, diagnosis at the dealer. They put the car on hoist and claim the tranny is trashed as the wheels were spinning when car was off the ground with engine running and tranny in neutral.
The shaky fork - all car is shaking so this is normal - vibration from engine. Replace tranny and it should be good.
I have a 2009 Escape that has developed a clunking noise in the right rear. On any bumpy roads it sounds like the shock tower lost it's top bushing but it could also be coming from somewhere lower. It also seems like the truck drifts to the right on bumpy left hand turns, kind of scary.
View 1 RepliesI am having a new problem with a clunk when I brake my 2009 Sonata. It only happens the first 1-2 times I brake while going forward. In other words, I back my car down my driveway, no clunk. Then when I drive down my street, the first 1-2 times I brake it will start slowing and then suddenly I will feel the brakes grab and it feels like a clunk (although now real audible cluck, just the feeling). after the clunk my car continues to slow as normal. The rest of my ride I do not feel it. After I get out of work, it does the same thing as I am headed home.
I have never felt this before, and find it strange that it only happens after the car has been sitting a while and goes away after 1-2 brakings.
I have 2007 hyundai elantra se with hankook optimo h426 tires. I like the car, everything is very nice except, the tires. I'm driving a lot in the streets and when i hit a bump or pothole, the car making a lot of noises(rattling noise) coming from the suspension (all 4 wheels). The dealer check suspension and said that evrery thing is good.I also think that suspension working properly, because a can not believe that all four shocks not gonna work properly at the same time. Can be this from the low quality of the tires and if i change the tires ,this gonna solve the problem?

View 4 RepliesI got a 09 Elantra and my rear windows will not roll up.. unless I use the switches in the rear doors. So, from the front I can roll them down but not up. if i need to roll them back up I have to get out open the rear door and use the switch in that door.
I am hoping it is the switch.. but which one? the one in the front doors. or the ones in the rear doors?
I think I heard this noise before but I didn't pay much attention until a few days ago. I thought the garage door makes that noise when I close the door.
When the engine is off, whenever the last door is closed, the popping noise occurs. The noise gets louder if I close the door harder.
When the engine is on, it's the opposite. The first door opened causes the popping noise.
It's a 07GS350AWD.
Vehicle makes a rattling sound underneath (mid/rear end area?) when hit bumps and mechanic said may be the anti-sway bar (or front struts). What is that and how important is it to fix? Vehicle has 108,000 miles.
View 2 RepliesMy rear defroster on my sliding glass window doesn't work all the time. I make sure the window is completely closed. It sometimes comes on and other times it doesn't. Sometimes it comes on and immediately shuts off. The dealership says I will need a new window. The truck is 7 months out of warranty. I think a $52,000 truck should have a rear defroster that works a heck of a lot longer than 43 months, especially when it has only been used 3 times since I bought it. Is this a problem that any of you have experienced with you F-150's ? I love my truck and will live with the rear defroster not working before I replace it. I just feel that Ford should have better quality than that.
View 14 RepliesRecently blew the belt that runs the water pump, etc while on a vacation. Had to leave the car at a small mechanic in Winthrop, WA. He replaced the Water pump which had gone bad and the belt that shredded. The car ran beautifully for a week. Now there is this constant rattling sound coming from the water pump area. I attached a video with the sound. The sound will quicken as you accelerate. At cold start up it is usually not present then starts a couple of minutes in.
View 2 RepliesSo I got this rattling sound like a piece of tin rattling underneath the truck, it is coming from the front of the transmission area. About 6 months ago the same thing was happening so I took the truck in for some other warranty work and had the dealership check out this rattle. When I picked the truck up I asked and they said it was rocks/gravel caught up underneath and they took them out and the rattle was gone. The truck is a 2010 FX4.
View 12 RepliesOver the last few weeks I've been hearing what sounds like a failing pump of some sort when shutting off my '06 GX470. The sound lingers for just a moment after the ignition is cut off, and sounds like a loud, very fast tatatatatatatata. It doesn't always do this - sometimes I don't hear anything. I've been commuting in the GX for four years and I've only been hearing this intermittent occurrence over the last 3-5 weeks.
What this might be? Fuel pump? Air leveling suspension pump?
Its about 100 times worse and more annoying in person...this is after felting areas around the navi screen and around the windshield area. Are yours this bad? [URL] .....
