Elantra HD (2006-10) :: 2009 - Jump Start Triggers Alarm?
Feb 10, 2013
So the situation is my battery died on my car and whenever I go to jump it the alarm goes off as soon as the cables connect. I let it sit for a minute and the alarm goes off for a period then turns off, then it starts going off again then turns off repeating this. The car wont turn over and I can't figure out how to turn off the alarm. How to get it to jump/turn off the alarm while it charges? I wont take it to the dealer to get it fixed unless its 100% something I can't do at home.

Ok, so, according to my dad, his car battery died, and he had to have it jumped. After the jump, apparently his headunit will no longer turn on. We think it may be a blown fuse, in which case we need to know the location of the fuse (and probably the rating & label of it, for identification's sake). I have an aftermarket headunit in my Santa Fe, and the fuse for that is in the back of the actual unit itself, so I don't know if there's a fuse in the back of his factory stereo too...? However, we are not exactly sure what the problem is. My dad's car is a 2007 Hyundai Elantra with the premium factory audio system installed. He gets Sirius-XM and has an aux input (everything pertaining to audio is factory-installed).

We moved to a new home two months ago.My 2009 elantra alarm randomly goes off only between 9:30pm and 8:30 am and only when in my garage or driveway. Dealer "adjusted hood sensor" and it still activates. Seems the issue must be in my garage as didn't happen prior to moving and happens no where else. I disconnected the garage remote wireless sensor tonight to see if that could be culprit.

I have a '97 VW GTI. My battery died, I left the lights on, but when I went to get a jump, the minute the cables were connected, my car alarm went off. Fortunately, we cut the power and the alarm ate up what little juice was supplied, but my car would not turn over. We tried to pop the clutch to get it started, but nothing. What can I do?

I have a 2009 Entrant, lately I've started experiencing no crank starts, I try a couple of times and then it starts normally. The car has new battery and terminals so am thinking it might the starter. I've looked online on a how to change starter for a 2009 starter video but no dice. I've found every other Hyundai but not the 2007 to 2010.

One morning my 09' Elantra didn't start. It sounded like it was only the starter running. I checked the spark and there wasn't any. I checked the fuel injector pulse and got nothing. Occasionally I could get it to start just by trying a bunch of times but never more then once in a row (or day for that matter).
I decided to replace the Crankshaft Positioning Sensor. The first time it took a bit but started up and ran nicely, till i turned it off. Now I'm back to a no start car and again with no spark or fuel injector pulse. It does feel like it's trying to turn over just a little bit now that i replaced the sensor.

So I just bought a 2002 Elantra with 72k on the clock (legitimate) and I'm having issues where the car will start fine in the morning and idle normally, however, say I come back to go somewhere else about two hours later, when I start it the car will rev up to 3k and stay there for about 3 seconds and jump down to normal idle speed. What's the issue?

Love the car, but in the last 2-3 three weeks it just randomly refuses to start. Turns over fine but seems like its not getting fuel. It is most likely a relay that needs replacing. This relay apparently controls the computer and the fuel pump. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place. I hardly dare drive my car anywhere now for fear It will not start when time to go home.
In the meantime, I seem to be able to get the faulty relay to function (if that really is the problem here), by making sure lights and radio are turned off, and by turning ignition key just one click (listening to be sure fuel pump has loaded the lines) before actually starting the car. No point in running battery low cranking engine over and over, waiting for that magic moment when the car suddenly starts like there was never any problem at all.

First time here with my 2008 Elantra. (Bought new - Now 140,000 miles) Just started having a problem. Car alarm going off by itself?? Would a low battery in the remote cause that? Where would I go to find info?

I have had my 2010 Elantra for about 2 months now, and 'all of a sudden' the car alarm starts going off - lights, beeps, at random. I have read a few places it has to do with a 'hood switch' - so where do I find it and what do I do with it once I find it?
Dealership has not been too friendly so far (not surprising - it IS a dealership), if I can find a quick and easy (and cheap) fix I can handle myself, I would rather do that. I prefer NOT to disable the alarm as I do want it to work.

Recently I took my car in for an oil change, & after that when I lock my car it doesn't always make the beep noise to let me know the alarm system is armed.
A little while after that, my alarm started to go off randomly. This happens at random times, all my doors are closed and we even took the car in to get checked(they checked the wires or something I believe because they thought it had to do with my aftermarket remote start)
I've read somewhere about people saying it could have to do with my hood switches? But truth be told I'm not very good with cars.

The alarm on my 07 Elantra is going off and I tried disconnecting the battery to no avail. What can I do to stop it from going off an keeping me from driving the car?

I have a 2008 Hyundai Elantra. When it's windy out the alarm keeps going off. Especially if the vehicle has been locked with the remote. If I manually open the vehicle and lock it manually the alarm is fine. I have had it to the dealer and they say the system is fine and that the sensors are fine.

So my factory car alarm has started going off by itself ; had to unhook horn wiring.
Bad hood switch issues are talked about ; seemed a little flaky when checked with meter so I changed it out, only $15. Hood pad already was made higher as a first try at fixing problem.
Still having alarm tripping sometimes. I read somewhere about the door lock actuators having a contact that tells alarm system when they are locked.
So I may have a faulty power lock assembly on one of the four doors. I have tried to open them when locked but they don't open. How to I tell which lock switch is bad , they are all pricy but the drivers rear is cheaper.

I got in the car to start it and everything looked dead. After everything appearing out (no lights in the cabin/dash) and trying it a few times, once (this is the weird part) it gave me the "no key detected" (I had the key of course) and I saw the ignition button light flash red. I needed to be somewhere and replaced my fob battery while out (I knew that was a longshot). When I came back, I tried again and never got anything.
My lights were on the parking light postilion (I must not have twisted all the way), and I hadn't driven the car the previous day, so maybe that drained the battery (though I would have thought I would have noticed the lights were on, as I went through the garage a few times). Wipers were not off either, but that likely doesn't matter.
So I tried to jump it with a Sequoia (12 V in the trunk - used my physical key to open the trunk for the first time). Nothing. As in no electrical activity at all. Repeated process with a jumper unit. Again, I never got any sign of power at all. What replaceable fuse might be worth trying. It would have to be one that knocked everything out.

2006 prius. Yesterday gave a jump to a friend with a motorcycle. After I got back in the car, no electricity whatsoever. Jumped my prius using another car, started fine and drove home, no warning lights. Same thing though after turning the car off, no electricity at all, can't start it.
Eventually figured out that I had blown the 120A fuse, so replaced it and the car starts fine now. But... I get the triangle with the exclamation point, and the car with the exclamation point on the mfd. What might be causing this? Battery reads 12.5v with car off. I find it a little strange that I didn't get any warning lights when I jump started it, but do now that it starts from its own 12v battery.

Having an interesting issue with my 2013 Elentra Limited ....
A couple times now the factory alarm will start going off by for no reason. This was confirmed by my neighbor, who was sitting outside when it started going off the last time with nobody around it. Also, when this happens, the alarm button the on key fob will not stop the alarm, only unlocking the car will stop it.
Also, after this happens, I can no longer set the alarm (pressing the lock button twice and hearing the car honk once) for usually at least a few hours if not a day. what happens is that i press the lock button and you hear the doors lock but if you keep hitting the lock button, the doors just keep locking, the car never honks.

I have a 2003 Hyundai Elantra with about 96,0000 miles on it. A couple of days the car wouldn't start and I assumed the battery was dead. Also, every time I would turn the key, the alarm would do these short successive beeps. After AAA came to see about replacing the battery, he saw that the alarm would beep when the key was put in and told me the anti-theft system was preventing the car from starting, and that a new battery wouldn't fix it. At the time, the battery in the key fob was also dead but I got that fixed and the key fob is working.

I have a 2008 Elantra SE. The anti theft alarm gets triggered for no reason on occasion. At first I thought it was only on rainy days, but now it happens in full sun as well.
I don't need the alarm, as nobody pays attention to them anyway. Is there a fuse I can remove to disable it?

I have a 2006 Acura RSX with an auto transmission that is having problems starting. The electronics work (ie lights, stereo, auto-locks etc) and the engine starts to crank when the ignition is engaged, but it sputters out and doesn't turn all the way over even with a jump start. The battery tested positive and none of the fuses are blown, how this could be fixed?

Today I came out of a store & my car started beeping the panic alarm. I don't carry the key fob with me, just a key. I unlocked the door, sat down, put the key in & turned the ignition. The lights all lit on the dashboard as normal but the car did not start. absolutely nothing. I was at a loss for what to do.
Fortunately, someone came out of the store & asked me if I needed a jump & explained what happened, and he said let me try something. He tried to start the car, then got out of it, locked the door, unlocked the door, sat back down & tried again. The car started right up.
The car is a 2014 Elantra SE with the Premium Package.
