2007 Elantra GLS won't start from time to time. Battery and fuel pump replaced and still won't turn over. It just sounds like it's trying then dies. I see similar posts but no real solution?
View 5 RepliesStarting yesterday, when I start my 2007 Elantra....I turn the key, everything lights up as normal, I hear the fuel pump turn on.....then there is no other sounds for between 1-3 seconds. Then the car starts and runs normally. I remember reading about things like this but of course can't find it now that i need it!
View 4 RepliesMy 07 Elantra SE (5 speed manual) without ESC is terrible in the snow. While traveling at almost any speed, and braking around a turn, the rear end (under icy conditions) will break free and the car is out of control. No warning was given. While traveling in a straight line on hard-pack snow (icy) with ruts, the rear end gave way and I ended up in the ditch. Didn't break or turn the wheel prior to this.I love the car but am afraid to drive it in the snow. Does ESC (electronic stability control) take care of this problem? I love the car otherwise; always get over 30 mpg (usually 33-34 mpg).
View 15 RepliesOk, so, according to my dad, his car battery died, and he had to have it jumped. After the jump, apparently his headunit will no longer turn on. We think it may be a blown fuse, in which case we need to know the location of the fuse (and probably the rating & label of it, for identification's sake). I have an aftermarket headunit in my Santa Fe, and the fuse for that is in the back of the actual unit itself, so I don't know if there's a fuse in the back of his factory stereo too...? However, we are not exactly sure what the problem is. My dad's car is a 2007 Hyundai Elantra with the premium factory audio system installed. He gets Sirius-XM and has an aux input (everything pertaining to audio is factory-installed).

Car won't start, Replaced Battery.
Have checked starter motor, its fine and cranking over
Have checked spark plugs and they are sparking.
Fuel pump wasn't working and after spending ages getting the back seats off and causing movement there, the car started. So fuel pump was replaced. Car went back to not starting after fuel pump replaced. Could this still be an associated issue with the 2008 recalls (Some components in the original fuel pump may be compromised by ethanol blended fuel.) Have checked relays and they seem to be working and fine. Have connected up and tried to find any fault readings come up and nothing is there.
My girlfriend went to start her car this morning only to find that it would not start and there is a click coming from the horn fuse. Went to try to jump start the car and the horn actually came on, but still would not start. I have researched a little and found this can be a common problem with the rubber bumper under the hood or caused by unlocking the door with the key and not not the remote start. She called hyndai and they suggested to charge the battery and then try to shut the alarm off with the fob.

View 10 RepliesDrove the car yesterday all was fine. Came home and shut it off. Went to start it about an hour later and the ignition key will not turn. Tried a second key and still no luck. Disconnected the battery and waited for about 10 mins. Reconnected battery still no luck. Wiggled steering wheel and shifter (automatic) still no luck.
View 16 RepliesMy 2007 Accent will not start. It doesn't turn over. All it does is beep when I turn the key. It is a long high pitched beep, followed by three sets of two shorter beeps. The engine doesn't turn over at all. The dome light works, as does the radio and dash lights, so I don't think the battery is dead.
I'm wondering if its a starter problem, but the beeping must be some kind of error message, right?
I have a 07 Elantra with 68,000 miles. I am having a cold start issue. When the car sits overnight and I attempt to start/place the car into gear (auto), the car will stall. This occurs whether the car is placed in forward/reverse and with the a/c on/off. The vehicle will start fine the rest of the day with no issues.

View 1 RepliesToday, I replaced the flexible coupling in my steering column. All went well and seemed great until I realized my turn signals were not working. I tried the hazards and promptly heard the 10amp fuse blow. I took the paneling back off and realized that the wire bundle to the turn signal was being pinched above the steering column.
After lowering the front of the column down and removing the wires, I noticed that there was some damage. One wire (blue) was cut and a few others had damage to the sleeves. I repaired the sleeves and fixed the broken wire. The turn signals now work perfectly fine, but when I activate the hazards all the signals go dark. I cannot find any blown fuses and the relay appears to be working just fine for the turn signals.
I have a 2009 Elantra with a hair over 107 000 km. Recently I have been having an issue whee the EPS (Electronic Power Steering) has been randomly turn off while driving. This has occurred anywhere from once a week two twice in 10 min. It has happened immediately after starting the car or after driving for half an hour. There is no visible or audible sign when the EPS shuts off other than a small warning light on the instrument panel.
I am very worried about the safety risk this poses to me and the vehicles around me as when the EPS turns off the car is very difficult to steer, so I would like to get this fixed ASAP. What I should be looking at? Is this something I can fix myself (I'm not very car savy) or should I be taking it to a mechanic/dealership?
When I turn my wipers off, they park or stop in the up position on the windscreen rather than lie flat at the bottom of the windscreen. Why this is happening and what the solution might be?
View 3 RepliesI was away on a trip for a week after coming back my 03 hyundai elantra wont start. Everything seems to be good when the key is in the on position. The stereo and the lights are on. But when I turn the key to start the car everything shuts off and the car wont start. Then the lights or stereo wont even turn on. Its not the battery I took the battery to get checked they said the battery is fine.

View 1 RepliesI'm having with my 2008 Elantra. In short, the car stalls when I'm at a stop, and then for a period of time, I cannot get the car in park or turn it off. When I am eventually able to get it to do so, I turn it back on, and it restarts like nothing ever happened. The full details are below. The dealership is clueless, and I am so upset/frustrated.
Three weeks ago, I was slowed down at a yield sign, and when I tried to inch forward, my car stalled. The radio, AC, etc. were all still on, but I could not move forward. I noticed the EPS light on on my dash. I also could not turn the wheel or shift the car into park (could only get it into neutral), and therefore, could not turn off the car/get the key out.
After cops pushed me into a parking lot, the car sat for a bit (still technically "on"). Eventually, a friend got in and forced the wheel to move a bit in each direction, and was able to put the car in park and turn it off. When we turned it back on, the engine started and everything appeared fine. I canceled the tow and drove it home.
I took the car to where I bought it and was told there was a technical service bulletin related to the powertrain control module, and they recommended I take it to the dealership to be fixed. The first Hyundai dealership I took it to said they addressed the TSB, and also recommended I clean out the fuel line as that may have been affecting it ($150). Because it had been awhile since I'd done anything like that and the work was relatively in expensive, I said sure, got my car back and went back to my life...
Fast forward to this week. I'm driving in rush hour traffic, and the SAME THING happens again. I immediately tried to move the wheel around to get the car in park and restart, to no avail. I called a tow. After some time passed, the same thing happened again -- we were able to get the car in park, turned it off, turned it back on and it seemed normal again.
I had the car towed to another Hyundai dealership, explained the situation and they tested and drove it around a bit over two days, but because they are unable to recreate the issue and no codes appear, they can't do anything for me.
Car is a 2007 elantra, auto trans. this car is not on hand and is not my car - i will be able to do some testing when i get the chance at some point.
this is an intermittent problem which makes diagnosis difficult. when the car is turned off, sometimes the doors will not lock and the door chime keeps going - if the doors are open or not.
Suspected that a pin switch in the ignition might be sticking (had this with my old accent) so some graphite lubricant was used to try and loosen it up. idea is that it might think the key is still in the ignition. didn't seem to do much.
What I recently found out was that it seems the car needs to be started again and then shut down to reset this fault. what i'm suspecting now after going over the wiring schematics is that the body control module (BCM) may be faulty - such as a relay sticking inside it. appears that the door chime is integrated into this part making testing even more fun.
The difficult part of this is that not only is this car on on hand to do some testing, but i have almost no information on the logic input/output of the BCM...so even bench testing might not be possible.
I have a 2009 Elantra with 150k miles. It has recently started making a squeaking noise when I make left turns. It only does it when the car is moving and only when the turns are moderate to sharp (not on gentle turns). It seems to be coming from the engine bay but I can't really tell for sure. I had the steering column replaced last year. I haven't had any warning lights or adverse driving effects. I have posted a video on youtube with the noise.
View 1 RepliesI just got into my 2012 GLS Elantra and tried firing it up, and the engine will turn over, but wont start. Power windows, radio, lights, everything works. Earlier in the day, I moved the car from the garage to the driveway and turned it off about 30 seconds after I turned it on..
I've read things from checking the sparks to the fuel pump..is it possible that it could be flooded? I am leaving it alone right now and I plan to try to fire it up in an hour or so with the accelerator fully pressed down in case this is the case, hopefully that does the trick..
