The alarm on my 07 Elantra is going off and I tried disconnecting the battery to no avail. What can I do to stop it from going off an keeping me from driving the car?
View 3 RepliesRecently I took my car in for an oil change, & after that when I lock my car it doesn't always make the beep noise to let me know the alarm system is armed.
A little while after that, my alarm started to go off randomly. This happens at random times, all my doors are closed and we even took the car in to get checked(they checked the wires or something I believe because they thought it had to do with my aftermarket remote start)
I've read somewhere about people saying it could have to do with my hood switches? But truth be told I'm not very good with cars.
So my factory car alarm has started going off by itself ; had to unhook horn wiring.
Bad hood switch issues are talked about ; seemed a little flaky when checked with meter so I changed it out, only $15. Hood pad already was made higher as a first try at fixing problem.
Still having alarm tripping sometimes. I read somewhere about the door lock actuators having a contact that tells alarm system when they are locked.
So I may have a faulty power lock assembly on one of the four doors. I have tried to open them when locked but they don't open. How to I tell which lock switch is bad , they are all pricy but the drivers rear is cheaper.
My 2007 elantra has been rumbling when i change gears occasionally and sometimes when stopping at a stop sign the car just dies. The car starts right up though as if nothing happened. It only happens like twice a week but i really want it fixed. I already changed the motor mount next to the engine block on the left. Could it be the motor mount connecting to the transmission?

View 2 RepliesI have had my 2010 Elantra for about 2 months now, and 'all of a sudden' the car alarm starts going off - lights, beeps, at random. I have read a few places it has to do with a 'hood switch' - so where do I find it and what do I do with it once I find it?
Dealership has not been too friendly so far (not surprising - it IS a dealership), if I can find a quick and easy (and cheap) fix I can handle myself, I would rather do that. I prefer NOT to disable the alarm as I do want it to work.
First my check engine light came on and is still on now my alarm keeps going off and not stopping. The alarm even went on while i was driving. Whats causing this to happen???
View 3 RepliesI have a 2008 Hyundai Elantra. When it's windy out the alarm keeps going off. Especially if the vehicle has been locked with the remote. If I manually open the vehicle and lock it manually the alarm is fine. I have had it to the dealer and they say the system is fine and that the sensors are fine.
View 4 RepliesWe moved to a new home two months ago.My 2009 elantra alarm randomly goes off only between 9:30pm and 8:30 am and only when in my garage or driveway. Dealer "adjusted hood sensor" and it still activates. Seems the issue must be in my garage as didn't happen prior to moving and happens no where else. I disconnected the garage remote wireless sensor tonight to see if that could be culprit.
View 8 RepliesSo the situation is my battery died on my car and whenever I go to jump it the alarm goes off as soon as the cables connect. I let it sit for a minute and the alarm goes off for a period then turns off, then it starts going off again then turns off repeating this. The car wont turn over and I can't figure out how to turn off the alarm. How to get it to jump/turn off the alarm while it charges? I wont take it to the dealer to get it fixed unless its 100% something I can't do at home.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2008 Elantra SE. The anti theft alarm gets triggered for no reason on occasion. At first I thought it was only on rainy days, but now it happens in full sun as well.
I don't need the alarm, as nobody pays attention to them anyway. Is there a fuse I can remove to disable it?
So my battery is dead dead.... Looking to charge it, but of course, the alarm goes off. How do I turn it off?
View 2 RepliesI am having an interesting sound coming from my rear brakes when I stop from reversing, for example, when I'm pulling out the drive way or a parking space. It kind of sounds like a loud "hum" that lasts a spit second, until the car actually stops. I changed the rear brakes and rotors about 1500 miles ago.
2006 Elantra Limited, 88,XXX miles.
I've had 2013 Elantra for a month. Love it, but a week ago, the driver's seat started squeaking when stopping, accelerating, and going around curves. Crazy making! I took the car in today. Svc mgr said its a weight issue. The two driver/owners weigh 150 and 160 lbs! Exactly, he said. Apparently, we do not weigh enough to prevent squeak. The only fix would be to replace the seat and there's no guarantee it would work. Also must be approved by regional svc mgr so have to go back in a.m. Told them similar issues posted online (Genesis and Sonata) and was easily resolved lubricant issue. They could at least try what appears to work. No going.
Have other Elantra owners experienced this squeaking? If Hyundai knows this is a recurring issue with their products, at what point do they make engineering changes to resolve the issue? Don't want to, but I am rapidly losing my love for the car as it sounds like a cheap tin can when it squeaks.
I have a 07 Elantra, with 300k km. most times coming to a stop it will almost stall with a few maybe 1 in 10 will actually stall if I would let it. I can control this with not actually stopping, but almost stopping, and let my foot off the brake slightly and let it move ahead slowly before coming to a complete stop. I have searched the Internet for quite a while and all I could ever find was try shifting to neutral when stopping. If I shift to neutral there is absolutely no sign of stalling, but they never said what it would be or how to fix it. Other than the stalling or almost stalling upon stopping, it idles perfectly and always starts right back up and runs fine.

Daughter's 2007 Elantra has ABS symbol lit for a week, I took it to a car wash and used the high pressure spray to clean the wheel hub areas and that may have fixed the problem but interested if ABS fault codes are stored and can be read.
2007 Elantra GLS won't start from time to time. Battery and fuel pump replaced and still won't turn over. It just sounds like it's trying then dies. I see similar posts but no real solution?

Woke up yesterday car wouldn't start. Engine would try and crank but no ignition. Came home for lunch tried it again, no luck. Let it crank 2 or 3 times about 30 sec. each no luck. Then all of a sudden it started right up. Shut it off and started right up again. Did this 5 or 6 times, it started right up each time.
After work I came home, tried to start it. No luck. Pumped the gas a couple of times let it crank for a while. Nothing. Then after a couple of tries, it started. Went to Autozone had the battery and charging system checked, all good. Put some gas in it and came home. All this time it started right up each time.
Later that night about 4 hours later I went to try it and no go. After about 5 minutes of repeatedly trying it came on eventually.
This morning I went out, pumped the gas twice and it started right up. Shut it off and started again about 5 times in a row. It seemed to run a little rough. Just slight shake that seems like miss or something.
What could be the problem. No check engine light. Fuel system, ignition system, some sensor??
My rear defrost is not working. The display light on the push button switch comes on and I do hear a click when I push the button (I am assuming the solenoid) but no defrost.
I have not checked the fuse box yet but wondering if I hear the click, is it a fuse?
Also, if it could be a fuse where is it located?
When braking, my car seems to break/slow down just fine...but right before the car comes to a complete stop, i hear a, dare i say, scraping/grinding noise. I found it odd. When going really slow and braking, it does it too. Otherwise, I'd say the brakes work ok. It doesn't make the sound every time when coming to a stop, but i'd say more times then not.
View 5 RepliesI'm wondering if it is OK to shift into neutral while coasting (engine on). I've read varying arguments back and forth on whether or not it hurts it. I've done for a while in my 99 suburban and the transmission still shifts just fine. I've tried it once in the elantra just to see how it affects my fuel economy, and it boosts it about 100mpg (coming off a freeway ramp). Braking and steering controls don't seem to be affected by the lower vacuum.
I can see why its not advised while the engine is off (i.e., towing), but if the engine is on, torque converter turning, transmission fluid pumping, I can't see where it would hurt.
