A friend of mine is giving away its head unit (it has video) from a toyota tundra 2008, can it be installed without too much trouble on my corolla 2013 L?
View 1 RepliesI have a OEM base model head unit and today both front speakers stopped working out of nowhere I pulled the head unit out to see if everything was plugged in and it all was snug.. I checked all the fuses too. Is there any other way to check to see if its my head unit thats bad or the speakers? And I guess my second question is if I replace my head unit with a aftermarket one do I still need to retain the stock unit? My sunfire had that problem I needed to put my oem radio in the trunk and hook it into my new aftermarket one. I did try adjusting the fade and all the setting too with no luck.

View 1 Repliesknow where the Oil Pressure Sending Unit is located on a 2011 Corolla. I am planning on taping into that so that I can attach a bypass oil filter that will slow filter the oil down to 2 microns. Although in doing that, I will not ever have to change the oil again, but only change out the filters and top the oil off. I will occasionally need to send in an oil sample to make sure that there is no degradation in the oil.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2009 corolla XRS with the JBL speaker package and recently received a new stereo GPS unit from eonon, the GM5169.[URL] Their website says its suppose to work with the model car and year, but did not say anything about not working with the JBL speakers.
When I went to install it yesterday the wiring harness did not match up with the set up that was already in the original stereo. The only one that did connect was the controls for the steering wheel.
I just installed BC BR type coilovers on my 2010 Toyota Corolla S and now even driving at 55 on a smooth highway my car is a bit bouncy. Its really bouncy if I hit a dip or hole. The dampening setting is still at factory setting which is 8 clicks from full hard. I haven't lowered the car anymore than just putting the coilovers on so its about .5-1 inch lower than stock I would say.

Yeah, like what I said on other thread (what did you do....) I installed new set of tires. I know most of guys here prefer not to have light on their dash, but I was worried because after I installed it the light did now show up even my new tires doesn't have TPMS sensor.

The song/radio station will automatically switch on its own randomly without my intervention.
I emailed the company, and they said to have me ground the unit to the chassis (had it grounded to same ground as aftermarket Kenwood radio), which I grounded it to the factory radio bracket screw (didn't change anything). I am using the 8011 Metra harness, which they said works for 2011 Corollas.
They suggested using the harness that comes with the unit (which you would need to splice into factory wires to do, messy, undesirable, did not do).
So far, what I've done was replace JUST the control unit with a new one, and now it is less frequently switching (1-3times every other 45min car ride, as opposed to 1-3times each car ride). So the frequency is much, much less, but still occurring.
The company suggests trying to replace the harness with another 70-8114 harness (have not done).
What else could be the cause? I was thinking about putting aluminum foil over the unit to stop interference. .
I have a 2010 Corolla (purchased December of '09) and just recently the radio has started acting up. Since it got cold last year, it seems after long periods with the heater on, the radio unit display will go haywire. Today, the display did the same thing after my car sat in the sun for a couple of hours (and it was pretty warm inside). Obviously it doesn't make any sense to me, but I thought the display was trying to tell me that it's "too hot" Buttons on the unit will intermittently malfunction as well.
For example, hitting "2" will turn the unit off, pressing another preset number will switch the radio from FM to AM. Keeping the unit off while driving doesn't seem to fix the issue - but it does correct itself after a while.
I would like to install a usb power cord that would somehow run out from the front of my dash (near the windshield). How difficult is this and have others on this site done it (links)? I would like to route the wire to either my GPS or cell phone mount and not take up a cigarette lighter plug.
View 1 Repliesmy 07 Camry has about 80k miles on her. I got fed up with the boring stock head unit and decided to get a new 8" headunit that would match the interior touch screen and all. Anyways I'm a fan of my AC as I normally use it. I took it to the audio shop to get my new headunit installed. I drive a couple hours enjoying it and decide to put on the ac. My problem is The air conditioning is only coming out of the passenger side now very cold and stale warm air is coming from the driver side vents. I can't figure it out. I got upset and went back to the shop to see if maybe they did something wrong and didn't hook something up correctly.
So they did everything they could and showed me that it wasn't any of there doing and that it's extremely "coincidental" that this happened immediately after they installed it. Anyways I'm also noticing that the light pointer above the dial on all 3 dials on the AC unit are not lighting up. And the light I am talking about is the pointer light that points and which measure of heat/cool comes out. The middle buttons still work and are lighting up as well as the off/on ac portions night back lights are working properly.
Also I have only the standard AC unit. Not dual climate. All my vents are set correctly as I never really mess with them. is there a possibility they could have damaged the Blend Door actuator. And know where the blend door actuator is located on a camry?
After installing a new audio system to my corolla (front/rear speakers, amp) all of my power windows stopped working. None of the controls from any of the doors will work. What could be the problem? A blown fuse perhaps?
View 4 RepliesOk so i just installed the trd front strut as my first"upgrade" on my 2009 corolla LE 2 days ago. Immediately i noticed when taking corners there was muchhh much less body roll which i love and i can take corners at a faster speed. BUT i have noticed at highway speeds it feels like the car is "swaying" left and right even if the car is moving in a straight line.Mainly the back of the car feels like its moving back and forth especially when its uneven roads while the front remains "even" Its quite unsettling as it feels like the back of the car will fishtail and lose control at any second.And yesterday it seems even at low speeds around 20 mph it feels like slight swaying. My question is, is this normal simply because everything else suspension wise is stock while the front has a strut bar? Maybe something else is wrong? Maybe its my imagination and its just the uneven roads?
View 14 RepliesI currently own a 2010 Toyota Corolla LE with around 30,000 miles. Recently, I noticed a bit of rattling from the passenger's head rest. At first, there was rattling when the head rest was up, but went away when I pushed it back down. Now, the rattling appeared again even with the headrest all the way down. I attempted to switch the actual head rest from the driver seat to the passenger seat, but the same problem is there. I'm guessing it's the actual seat which is holding the rods to the head rest? I also tapped both seats and the noise from inside the passenger seat sounded a lot loose.

View 5 RepliesI am looking to install a rear view mirror gps system with built in backup camera on my 2011 Corolla S. I have been searching for various different types and so far I have found these two links which look to be suitable.
will the wireless camera work good or is it better to get a wired one? Sounds like the gps system included maps for Canada & US. I am not sure if the camera will fit properly on this car or will it stick out. Also whether running a wire from the mirror to the camera will be challenging.

Managed to break loose a corner of the plastic air shield under head lights bracket is broken. Does epoxy repair kits will work ok on this.

I thought it was a relatively easy install, but then after putting the airbag in place, I find that the horn no longer works. I test out the cruise control, and the green "Cruise" lights up on the dashboard..but it doesn't actually work.
