I have a buzzy, vibrating speaker in my right front door. Is the speaker itself shot or is it just loose? Or does the plastic door panel vibrate against the steel door. Placing my hand on the door doesn't seem to reduce noise ( 2010 Corolla )

View 2 RepliesI had two 12" subs running in my 09 corolla. The front right door speaker and little tweeter speaker stopped working so I took the subs out. I figured the speaker was blown so I ordered new ones. When I installed the new door speakers, they didn't work.
I know for a fact it is not the speaker that's faulty because I tried them on the driver- side door and they worked. So my passenger side door and tweeter speakers aren't working. Do I need to order a new tweeter speaker as well? Like does the tweeter need to be working for the door speaker to work? And vice-versa?
What are the front speaker cutout dimensions. I think I read somewhere that it was 5 and 9/16" but how to verify this. I'm trying to put 6 3/4" speakers in there and was wondering if they will fit?
View 10 RepliesMy 2013 corrolla s speakers seem to be malfunctioning.
Symptoms:
50% of the time there is static coming from the front right speaker and all other speakers are mute.
40% of the time there is no sound.
10% of the time the speakers are fine.
Steps taken this far:
Cleaned the ground underneath the battery.
My dad who is a mechanic says possibly a stereo issue while I think it's a connectivity issue. How to diagnose the problem and salvage my speakers.
So my right rear stock speaker in my 09 corolla has started to cut out. some days it works fine, others it's a mess. I've never cranked them so it shouldn't be damaged, in fact it sounds a lot like when a wire is a bit loose. How to fix it?

View 2 RepliesYesterday, I upgraded my door speakers to Fosgate PPS4-8's. They Fit beautifully, and I just have them in the original hole, standing on 3/4" spacers.
Removing my fosgate power 6.75's, I found that there were droplets of water all over the back of them. When you are driving in the rain, water comes in the drain right under the speaker.
The new 8's have baffles that I made out of cheap paint buckets from lowes until the real ones get here. I'm kinda unhappy with Toyota right now. I had assumed that because the stock speaker didn't have any protection, that it would be good.
The PPS4-8's are a midbass speaker, not a woofer. They are good for 80Hz to 5KHz. I went with them because I had a huge hole in my midrange that I couldn't correct because I had no midrange drivers. All 2-way's.
So my passenger front door is vibrating inside somewhere ... tho' it could be the door panel itself possibly !?
I've removed the door panel hoping to find something loose inside that is causing this buzzing. All the door panel's locating pins are intact and secure the panel as they should. In other words... The door panel secures as it should and nothing looks broken at it's attachment points.
The noise does not occur on a smooth road surface...and only occurs on rougher road. So I realize the vibration is being transmitted by road vibrations.
I can hear/feel a lite jolt from the tire's contact with the road's surface irregularities and if the road surface remains consistently rough ... that jolt turns into a buzzing drone type noise. Well ... at least until I hit a smooth road surface again. Then the buzzing subsides. No, it is not an electrical buzz/noise.
Sounds more like plastic vibrating against the door's inner surface... But I don't see a scuff mark or anything giving me a clue as to what it could be !?
I've thought of removing the door panel...then take a test drive without it installed. Just to be sure it is not the the window glass support/channels... door lock/lever mech. rod or loose wiring. But haven't done that as of yet. With the door panel removed... I don't see anything that looks loose or could be causing this rattle/buzzing noise ?
It's difficult to say exactly where this noise is transmitted from... but if I were to guess... I have to think it's possibly near center... around the arm rest area. I see behind that is only some wires coming from the window control unit. But I don't see how those could be culprit of this buzzing noise ?
My '10 is still under the 36K warranty...

They are Single Voice Coil 4 ohm (wired at a 2ohm load)
I wired the red hot wire (4 gauge) from the battery to the trunk. The ground wire is on the shock nut (4 gauge). The amp has power. The speakers are wired to a 2 ohm load. Now how do I get signal to the amp? This is my first car with a stock head unit. My amp has speaker level inputs and an auto detect feature so it turns on whenever signal comes through. So can I splice into a rear speaker and run the wire straight to the amp correct or would it be better to get a line converter and run RCA cables?
I am finding the physical location of the alarm speaker that beeps at the driver in the 2009 Corolla. I'd like to know because I want to rip the thing out. I don't need a device annoying me while I'm driving or just listening to music with the door open . I've partially taken apart my dash and could not locate the speaker.
View 10 RepliesI have a stock 2010 Corolla with the standard circle speakers in the front, 6X9s in the back. I bought some speakers that do not have the tweeters built into the woofer for the front speakers so where to put them, etc. The speakers that I bought are 5-1/4" two-way loudspeaker components (Infinity Kappas) [URL] can mount the woofers in the door no problem, and I can wire the crossovers that came with it... WHERE DO I PUT THE TWEETERS??? I have to drill in the metal of the door... and poke holes in the actual door panel cover for sound to come through it?
View 9 RepliesSo what is the deal with this whole steering wheel vibrating over 70mph? I have new balanced tires and the alignment has been done already. The steering wheel has a very annoying mild shake over 70mph on the highway. When I went back to the tire shop I saw the guy rebalance all 4 tires correctly. They told me to look into getting all alignment done. The car has 123,000 miles and had the 2 front struts replaced at 83,000 miles.
View 6 RepliesWe all know the front door speakers on these are horrible. I am changing them out all the time under warranty for being blown. In doing so I decided it was time for a video on how to remove the door panel without damage to get at the speakers and swap in aftermarket etc.

2010 F150 XLT ... Front driver side door speaker goes from working fine, to crackling, to cutting out. It`s been doing this since the day I bought it. I've had a local audio company tell me they have seen a few new Ford with that problem.
View 7 Repliesi have an 09 corolla s auto.i wanted to change it so it would not unlock when you put it into park. i read the manual Page 42. it says to
step 1: turn key to on position (engine off)
step 2: shift the lever to p or n(for stick). and press the the lock button for approximately 5 seconds and then let go to activate or deactivate the auto locking. or if you push and hold the unlock it activates or deactivates the auto unlocking.
well they don't say to wait for the seat belt chime, when you hear the chime push and hold the lock or unlock button depending on what you want and release just prior to the end of the chime. -- they don't say this in the book, but this is the only way to get it to work.
My driver side door locks by itself when I was washing the car. Is this normal. Happened to me twice now. Once when I was working in the garage. I just heard the car beep.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2013 Corolla with about 6000 miles on it. The drivers side door mysteriously locks after my wife gets home in the evenings. We do not lock it at the house, but when we get into it after she gets home to go somewhere, the driver side door is locked, but none of the rest of the doors. Is there a recall for this problem? Or is it something new that Toyota has not discovered yet? It's the only problem I've had so far with this car, so far it has done this four times in the last month. I just turned in an 07 Tundra with 250,000 miles and had only one problem with where it went into " Limp" mode because of water in some emissions control box at around 160,000 miles, so I hope to get as good service out of the Corolla. It is not the auto relock feature, as I'm familiar with that function on the Tundra.

View 2 Repliestry to view the Scion Xd website. there it gives a few video instructions on altering the settings of the door locks. i tried it myself and it worked on the corolla too.
the default with the corolla is when you start the engine and move the shifter from P to D/3, all the doors lock. in the Scion Xd site it gives a video instruction where you can have the door to lock up when the car reaches a certain speed.
what i dont like about the corolla door lock up default setting is when you stop and put the the shifter to P again, all the doors unlock. im kinda paranoid about having the doors unlocked while i am inside the car. so for me the 2nd video instruction is most suitable.
I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla, and the door open indicator will intermittently turn on and off. I isolated the problem to the trunk, and unplugged the trunk latch assembly so that the trunk dome light doesn't drain my battery. Before I unplugged it, my key fob could open the trunk remotely. I can still manually open my trunk using a key or the lever next to the drivers seat. Is there something on the latch assembly that I can check if it's triggering?
