I have this weird sound. Only does it when the car is at 5mph. The sound is like having a broken strut. Already changed on both sides Ball joint, Links and Struts.

I have a 2009 Corolla S. When I drive on the highway and the road dips and then comes back up, I hear a crunching sound as the wheels come back up. It almost sounds like springs. I thought maybe it was the cold weather but it isn't. The sound is in the front end.
At 53,000 miles, it seems early for this kind of problem and I never have had this so early in the life of a car. I do have the Toyota Extended Warranty of 125000 miles and 8 years. Would this be covered under that?
It doesn't really happen over bumps, it's when the car dips down and comes back up on the highway...50 mph or more.
2009 Corolla has both front suspension boots torn to pieces...Is this something that can be replaced without replacing the entire strut?
View 1 RepliesI just purchased my first Toyota Matrix We live on-top of a mountain with a 1+ mile rough gravel road leading to our house and I didnt quite think about the low ground clearance and hard suspension set up when I purchased the Matrix It looks like the regular Matrix has softer springs and more ground clearance then the (S) model Is it relatively straight forward to switch out the suspension and would it give me more ground clearance.
View 2 RepliesI took out coilovers back to stock struts and springs. before this, driving sound was normal. I know after the swap, alignment will off for sure. this morning when I first took it out for a drive after swap, I hear a humming sound while driving. note this tho, when I had my coilovers on, my tires were cambered about 2.5-3 degrees, not really that much. but now they are back to normal vertical stock angle. note: the inner tire wear, is not really that much off from the outer, but slightly noticeable.
1. do you think the noise is coming from cupping of tire from being cambered pressure to normal? like the tire shape is outta wack?
2. since the car is not bouncing up and down, its not a strut issue?
3. it cant be wheel bearing cos it was perfect before this morning when I first drove it.

I am recently experiencing some weird squeaking/creaking noises coming from my front suspension.. It manifests whenever I am going over humps faster than usual (or if the humps is not "perfectly sloped"). I seldom experience this during daytime but during nighttime, it is very evident.
this is the list of things that I replaced already:
2x ball joints
2x stabilizer links
2x shock absorbers
2x tie rod
2x rack ends
Did some wheel balancing and wheel alignment already...
I was able to replicate this by parking the car in a slope - parallel to the street with the wheels turned to right or left, and pushing the top fender downwards.
Driving along our streets, highway, and highway curved ramps is flawless.. Could this be bushings on stabilizer bars? or the control arms?
I have cd radio and aux all working on my 2010 corolla, the sound do not come from speakers. I tried another radio it works. I tried another stereo with tape in it it doesn't work. I tried my stereo on another car it works. What I don't understand is why only stereo with radio only works but if i have cd or tape player with it don't.

second sound system! when i use my 6 speaker oem radio, the sound is automatically adjusted when going to max, meaning the bass goes down ect(with asl off) is there any way to prevent this? and i was thinking of going subs and 4channel amp, but i still want to use my steering wheel controls! is there any 2din(full facia) radio with ipod control/touch and steering wheel controls out there?and for speakers is there any problem switching out the tweeters?(for the rest i am quite good :P)
Have a 2010 Matrix with the blulogic added by the dealer, has worked fine till last week when all sound cut out. Radio lights, shows station, volume, i even get sound for 5 seconds when starting, then nothing. If I play music thru my iPhone, it works perfect. What changed, seems like a setting of some sort?

View 13 RepliesI bought a Kicker 6x9 speakers rated 300watts for the rear of my Corolla 2009, i did not feel any changes in sound and power of the stereo, i tap the stock speakers too just to compare but it sound the same to me even on a 40 and above volume.
View 8 RepliesI have an '09 Corolla S with the non-JBL sound system, 6 disk in-dash changer and 6 speakers. I am getting no sound from the speakers except a small burst of static when I turn the ignition on and once in a while sporadic static. The Radio is still playing CD's, FM, Etc, but no sound. All fuses are good and the clock works. I disconnected the factory iPod interface and still nothing. I also tried a different aftermarket HU, but still no sound... I'm on the road all the time so I'm over 50,000k and there is no warranty left on the radio. I've also torn the dash out checking wires and connections and can't seem to find anything abnormal.
View 12 RepliesI bought my 06 Corolla LE last week and just started hearing a nasty squeaking sound whenever I applied the brakes. I took it to the dealer today and 4 hours later he calls me and tells me that he had to readjust my back brakes and lube them up and it should be fine..About a half hour into driving the car around town I start hearing this noise again. Now he's telling me to bring back in the morning to see what the issue is.
My question is besides the brake pads and rotors which were checked by another mechanic that said they were good what the hell could be the issue?
I recently bought a 09 corolla le and when the car is at 55-70 mph and probably other times too, a clicking sound starts. It sounds like a relay picking up and dropping out. So at this speed if I lift my foot it stops or decreases in frequency. When I press accelerator it increases in frequency.
It sounds like it is coming from passenger kick panel or behind glove box. I looked behind kick panel and did not see any relays. I could've over looked it.
There's a lot going on behind the glove box but didn't really see many if any relays. One thing that got my attention was a white cube with what may be a red led at the top of the dash behind the glove box. I also have not taken the time to drive and investigate.
I am having an issue where when I turn my car on after its been sitting up for several hours, it makes a noise similar to if you held something to a fan blade or bike spoke while it was turning. The sounds last a couple seconds and only happens after the car has been sitting for several hours.
View 7 RepliesTook my 2010 Corolla in to have it looked at since it has recently developed a clicking/thumping sound when I make a sharp right turn (it's intermittent, but frequent enough to be noticed).
The shop I took it to said the source of the noise was the CV axle, but that after inspection, they didn't see anything really wrong with it, so they recommended simply putting up with the noise to save money, and to keep an eye on it and replace it if/when it actually begins showing signs of significant wear.
I have just purchased my first Toyota. Formally a Subaru man. It is a 2009 corolla XLE with 95,000 miles. It is a one owner car in excellent condition and I have all the service records from the Toyota dealer where the work was done.
When I start the car most of the time there is a rattling sound that comes from the engine compartment and lasts just a couple of seconds. In my manual there is something in the ABS section about noises from the ABS system. Could the ABS system be the cause of this noise?
I have a corolla 2009 and i noticed a whistle or a chirping sound every time i tap the gas pedal or if i cruise around 2000-2500 rpm , it looks like it's coming around the air intake.

The new problem now is that I hear a ticking sound while driving as if something is touching.. The Technician at Toyota said there was still 70% on the pads and 80% left on the rear shoes.. Encountered a ticking sound while driving along?
We got a 15 F150 yay for her but I got stuck with her 113k.
So the engine makes a chain grinding sound on cold start ups and the tranny is slipping pretty hard.
Can I swap a 2.4 with a 5spd without doing a bunch of wiring?
So while I was driving I thought I heard a rattling. I checked under my front bumper and there is this piece dangling kind of on the driver's side in front of the radiator. What is this piece? It is initially connected towards the front bumper.
