Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Replaced Tail Lights Now VSC / ABS Flashing?
Feb 6, 2014
I replaced my tail lights tonight once finished I clean up my mess and decide to go grab dinner.
Started the car, VSC flashing along with ABS light on... Did I blow a fuse when I turned the car on from the new tails?

2010 Corolla LE ... This started today, on the ride home from work. Mid 50 degrees, light rain, driving down straight road it started. Engine light also on. No mods in car. is this something the dealer has to se, or can I bring it to my own mechanic?

So driving home today cel came on and vsc started flashing.
The codes I got were pretty out there
P0420 - cat converter (this one I did expect)
B0cc0 ???
C3a32 ???
U0a8e ???
B3e1f ???
I'm wondering if this was poor communications between the unichip and ecu? As for the vsc flashing, people complained about this during rain. It is currently raining. But not certain this is the issue.

I just got an oil change, and my maintenance light is flashing when I start up. It has about 36 thousand miles on it. I don't know when the previous oil change was before the one I got two weeks ago.I have read about resetting the maintenance light, but this is my first car and I have only had it for about 8 months, so I don't want to ignore a potential issue here.

So I recently bought a used 2009 Corolla S. It came with the above mentioned JBL system. My issue is this. When I try and load a CD, I get a flashing wait message. I know the player itself is not hot, as mentioned in the owners manual as causing the issue. I tried it last night, got the wait error. Drove it with the A/C on for a couple hours, same issue. Tried first thing this morning, same issue.
My question is this. Is there any sort of way to reset the unit, possibly dis-connecting the battery for a period of time? Or am I best just to set a service appointment and let Toyota deal with it since it is Certified and under warranty?

I have a 2010 Corolla. The car is flashing the infamous VSC Off, trac, engine light! The car is still has the powertrain warranty. I was wondering if I should take it to a Toyota dealership.
But I read just getting the diagnostic itself is around $100. I don't want to end up paying for that if the repairs end up being something that's not even covered under the warranty.

So today I start my car, I get the check engine on (steady not flashing) and have stability control flashing with my traction control light on. I found out it could be the gas cap not on right so I removed it and screwed it on again, check engine light was still on though. However, after starting the car again after a drive it was gone .
I do turn off stability control sometimes if it's nice out?

My daughter has a 2011 corolla and when she first cranks the car the maintenance required light flashes a couple of times and goes out. I think last time I changed her oil, it was steady on. What is causing it to flash?

So I just bought new wheels, and had them put on. Went from stock 16's to 17's now. After I had them put on there was no issue.
Now after I was driving for about 30 mins, I noticed that the Low Tire Pressure Indicator started flashing for 20-30 seconds, then stayed solid.
And now the indicator has been there ever since. I've tried reinitializing the TPMS but it stlll didn't go away.

Driving home yesterday and my dashboard battery light started flashing intermittently. This morning it came on and won't go off.
So far I have...
1. Tested alternator and battery with a multimeter and the results appear to be within normal ranges.
2. Pulled out the alternator and had it tested. It went through 7 test cycles on the bench and passed all of them.
3. Swapped out the battery with a new one.
4. Checked the charging system fuse.
5. Thoroughly cleaned the battery cables.
6. Cleaned the battery to chassis and engine to chassis ground cables.
The battery light stays on no matter what I do. What am I missing?

I have a 2011 Corolla LE, about 58k miles. The latest work I did was replace the brake pads, rotate the tires and changed the oil a little over 2 weeks ago. Everything was normal so far. Yesterday I drove for about an hour, again everything was fine, but after stopping at a gas station and starting I have several indicator lights come on.
- Slip indicator, flashing
- TRAC OFF, constant
- ABS, flashing
- Electric power steering warning light, flashes but turns off after about 30 seconds.
I tried my OBD scanner with no luck, but figures since there was no Check Engine light.

I noticed my tail light isnt working, so I decided to change the bulb. And bought a 7443LL Sylvania bulb from Oreilly. Fits perfectly but noob that hasnt opened a car before. Old bulb is greyish, I guess its blown out or something. I change both bulb because you buy them in pairs. Anyhow, I thought its the bulb is the problem but now its not. Since both break light and tail are of the same bulb but tail light isnt working. So I figured the bulb isn't the culprit. I called a friend and he says its the fuse. Found the fuse, bought and replace the fuse. I turn on the car, tail light is still not working. Check the new fuse, its blown, put another one, the same thing happen. It keeps blowing my tail light fuse everytime I start the car. Im quite sure I got the right 7443, its dual filament bulb (I can see 4 wires at the base and 2 string that would light up for tail and break.
Is there 2 fuse for the tail light, I only found one by the break pedal, its just below the turn signal/hazard relay.

We got a lot of snow here in the last 72 hours and so driving on the roads has been a bit more slick than usual.
But last night I found a patch of snow that I thought I'd test my traction on (lots of room, nobody around, etc.) and while the ABS worked very effectively and I stopped with full control... I noticed my exterior lights dimmed a fair bit.
Is this a normal thing? Never seen that before.

My center console, gear lights, and steering wheel control buttons are not illuminating. Could it be a fuse? If so, which one would it be? I looked through the fuse section in the manual and could not find anything about it.

I got a 2009 Corolla LE and I am wondering if the a/c dial lights up with the dash lights? Its been a while since I've been inside the car but I have this feeling that the dial used to light up. The dial has an on/off push button to activate the ac. That ac button does light up when depressed, the rest of it does not. if the dial does indeed light up, how would one fix this? is there a fuse or something just for the dial?

I have the code P0500 on my 2009 Matrix. The odometer doesn't function, all error lights are on, the power steering is not completely out but it's reduced. Also, the rear windshield wiper is constantly on. I replaced the vehicle transmission sensor today because I thought that would fix it all. It had absolutely no effect.

At night, when I turn the key to "on". The stereo light (orange)'s illuminated but no light coming from the dashboard. Other lights on the dashboard -- e.g. engine check, oil, door indicators are fine. When I start the car, the stereo light's gone away and I still have no dashboard lights. I tried to change the channel, put in a CD, increase/decrease volumes but none of those activated the light. All other functionalities seem to be working fine.
I checked the fuse box under the dashboard console. All fuses look good to me. What might be going on or I just simply have bad dashboard light bulbs? What's about the stereo lights?

We just purchased a used 2010 LE model a couple weeks ago and for the first time actually drove it during the night. So I decided to check out how the fog lights look. Problem is, when I turned them on it didn't light up any of the road between the low beams and the front bumper of the car. In fact acted kind of acted as high beams. They are currently aimed higher than my low beams!!!
This doesn't seem right to me.
- Were the lights installed upside down?
- They should be lighting up the area on the road between my low beams and front bumper correct?
- Is it possible that they are able to be aimed that high if installed correctly?

Just purchased a 2009 Matrix XRS Manual transmission with 67,000 miles on it. I can't get the VSC Off and Traction lights on the panel to go out.
During our test drive, I had turned the system on and off to make sure it was working, and didn't seem to have any trouble with it.
I went to have it inspected yesterday. During the test, they hook up to the ODBII port to check emissions. The tech had trouble getting it connected the first time, saying the connection was going in and out. Eventually, they were able to get it connected properly and passed the inspection.
After they pulled the car out of the bay, the VSC Off and Traction lights were solid on, and they have been every time I've started the car since. Checking the manual, all I should have to do to turn the system back on is press the traction button, but that doesn't seem to be working at all. I also tried holding it down for 30 seconds or so with no luck.
The lights aren't flashing, so I don't think this is an error, I'm wondering if the computer got confused somehow with the ODBII port issues.
Stuff I've tried:
1. Followed these instructions for the Highlander Hybrid thinking maybe Toyotas will generally do this. That just caused most of the lights to flash on the panel and didn't bring up any VSC diagnostic messages.
2. I pulled the panel from the dash out to check to make sure the button was working, and I do get connectivity between the two outside pins while the button is pushed in.
how to get this to reset, or what the problem might be?

The LED Daytime Running Lights are at maximum brightness when the headlights aren't on. When I turn on my headlights, the LED Daytime Running Lights dim down drastically. Is there a way to make the LED Daytime Running Lights not dim down when I turn my headlights on?
